Drove 5 hours to come seem Brooke. I've been seeing her for 16 years and she's the only person whose done my hair "right". Since she moved to Minnesota I tried to find a new hair lady in Wisconsin but after a few failed attempts it just wasn't happening. So thankfully my husband agreed to let us come up! Okayyy 100% love this place! The decor and layout of the salon is so open and beautiful and trendy and you don't feel crowded or like you have to yell over people at all. Jaz worked with my hair and I can honestly say this is the best hair experience I've had! She was so patient with the fact that I have very very thick hair. I did a cut and balayage color. While it took a long time (due to my thickness) she was thorough and listened to what I wanted and gave me my favorite hair color ever! I was trying a new cut style today too and she did a great job! I tend to come out of most salons with the same haircut and just kind of shrugging my shoulders because the stylist never seems to quite grasp what I'm wanting. Poppy Salon has been completely the contrary. I've never left a salon so consistently happy withy hair, and this being with three different stylists now. I sometimes can't believe they actually listened and got it right, I've been so disappointed in the past with other places. It is rather expensive, and that frustrates me, but you get what you pay for definitely applies here. They have really nailed the whole 'look happy you're at work thing' which is cool to the point I want to work there even though I'm unskilled in the cosmetological sciences. The space is comfortable and modern with its open floor concept. Make sure if, when, you fall in love with a stylist to book out a session or two as they're quite busy. When checking in tell them that Fed sent you. Then they'll say 'who?' Then you say 'yeah, Fed my Ex sent me' Then they'll smile politely and say you saw that one yelp post didn't you.' Then you can say 'sure did.' Then you both share the awkward silence. 'So do you have an appointment?' Then with eager enthusiasm for the best hair reduction session ever you say 'yes.' read more

Stylist didn't have much experience. I asked for a haircut and touch up to my roots. After applying hair color, she left and didn't come back for at least 45 minutes. I told her at the beginning of the appointment that my hair takes color in 25 to 30 minutes. She never once came and checked to see how my hair was processing. When she was done I had blonde streaks in my hair but the color we chose were in the browns. As for the haircut, she never really cut my hair. She took her scissors and snipped off the bottom in the back and made little snip cuts throughout the rest of my hair. She never gave me a haircut, so I still had all these dead ends and stringy hair. After I complained, she did offer to prewash & cut. I had already been there for 4 hours, was disappointed in the service, and just wanted to get out of there. When I called the next day to speak with the manager, she didn't even bother to ask me if I wanted to come in so that it could be fixed. She just offered to refund my money and told me to find somewhere else. After fifty years of getting my hair done, this was the worst experience I have ever encountered. read more

Which is always encouraging. They really listen to what you want/need. I have been to numerous high end salons in town no comparison seriously. I had Courtney she is a sweetheart and did a banging job on highlights and hair cut. I got my eyebrows waxed by Abigail and she did great! She took her time to make sure she didn't mess up and to get all the extra little fine hairs that don't come out with the wax. I wanted to switch things up and try a new hair stylist so I went to Poppy Salon in St.Cloud MN. My stylist was Scarlett and I explained to her I wanted my hair to be lighter. She asked how my hair reacts in the past times I've dyed it and I said I take color well and and have been happy with the outcomes. She recommended we do a full set of foils and do some balayage technique to my roots. She mentioned the Olaplex strengthening treatment was kind of an insurance for your hair and it was an add on of $50. I told her to do whatever she thinks is needed and that if she thinks I could use it, to use it. She said I have healthy hair and didn't think I need it. the problem is I HAD healthy hair and now I don't. When I went back to sit down in front of the mirror I realized that my hair was a knotted up rats nest. I thought that was odd because every time I've had my hair done it never looked like this. As she was brushing out my hair, my hair was coming off in clumps! I started to panic! She was completely mellow, almost like she was mildly sedated. I kept pulling out my hair and saying there is something wrong here and that this was bad. She said NOTHING. Brushing took forever and she was not gentle at all. It was almost like my hair was a rubber band and as I would pull it gently it would snap off. Scarlett then cleaned up all of my hair that was in the brushes and on the floor and had Alex the owner come over to look at it (to try to reassure me everything was fine). They were looking at my hair and said everything looks good and I explained to her the amount of hair breakage I had and she said "yep, that's normal." I kept explaining to her that you may see this happen a lot here but I have NEVER had this happen and I have had my hair lighted for 18 years. I lost so much hair it is crazy. I used to have thick healthy hair. There was so much breakage to my hair it is now the thinnest it has ever been and looks so unhealthy. The thing that makes me more upset is that both Scarlett and Alex were so mellow and had no worry about it. No sorry or realization that they should have done it a different way. For Alex to keep telling me that this is normal I feel that they need to rethink how they do things there. Will never go back there again and now I have to really care for my hair to get it back the way it was before. Big Mistake! read more

The decor of the salon is beautiful, the best in St. Cloud. The stylist was very friendly and I enjoyed conversing with her while she cut my hair. I wanted a trim and received more than a trim, a little too short but I will take some responsibility for it as I should have been more concise as to what I really wanted. The strange thing about this is I have received very positive comments from others regarding my "short" hairstyle so even though it is shorter than I wanted I'm still pleased. read more

Easily the best cut and color I've had. I have very difficult, not-typical hair, and most don't know how to handle it. I had it done by both Alex and Sam, and they knew exactly what to do. I also had my hair dyed there multiple times, and it was exactly what I wanted every time. The people are SO nice, you can tell they really care. The salon is BEAUTIFUL.
