PortAventura World is honestly a blast if you love rollercoasters and don't mind big crowds. The theming is really well done, with different areas that feel like mini adventures, and the rides--especially Shambhala and Red Force--are absolutely insane. That said, it gets really busy, so unless you want to spend half your day in queues, get the Express Pass. Food's nothing special and pretty overpriced, but overall, it's a fun, high-energy day out that's worth it if you're into thrills. W 99/100 read more

We just arrived in Barcelona and the kids were hankering to get to the park so they can ride the rollercoaster. OK - let me just say, it was INSANE. The ride rockets out and goes straight up - that's right- straight up and does a nose dive down. Really great for the adrenaline junkie. Luckily, there wasn't a line, so the kids went on it multiple times, yes, that's right, multiple times. They dragged my husband on it before we were ready to leave and my husband said it was just sheer insanity. The park is really easy to get to - just hop on the train and get off at the appropriate stop and walk over to the park. The kids want to go back the next time we're in Barcelona. I think that's something that can be arranged. read more

Long story short, this is a pretty stand up amusement park! If you want the absolute truth, it's pretty far away from most things so that's rough, but if you're going from Barcelona I recommend the train if you aren't taking a car, which is the easiest way. They do have lodges which you can stay at, which I won't talk much about because I've never stayed in them, but from the outside they look nice. The entrance price is expensive, but that's normal for amusement park entrances. The water park entrance is less expensive. The food inside is next. Well let's see, it's typical amusement park food, but it's pretty good on the scale of amusement park food. It's not complete junk, but it is pretty expensive. This may sound negative, but it really isn't meant to be. The food is okay, which I find kind of extraordinary for an amusement park. Anyways, the rides are brilliant. I'm a hard-core amusement park goer, and the things I look for are security, adrenaline and fun. Port Aventura has all those things. Dragon Khan and The Shambala are my favorites, but all the roller-coasters are pretty great, and they have a great kids section. The lines on a sunny day can be unbearably long, and, in the Summer I've seen waits up to 3 hours long for some of the most popular rides which can be a real pain. There's really no way to get around this unless you stay later, which can be a good idea, or you buy a Fast Track Ticket which is more expensive, but puts you in different lines for the rides with only the people who bought the Fast Track Tickets. Outside some of the water rides there are drying stations which I kid you not, you pay for and then you stand there while the machine blows hot air at you, and it works! They have cool decorations inside that are different culturally themed, from The Wild West to China, and I found that the decor was generally inoffensive. All in all, Port Aventura makes for a pretty nice day as far as amusement parks go, and I would recommend it to anyone! read more

I've been to this theme park many times and I never get bored of it. It's AMAZING. Spain's equivalent to Alton Towers. It has rides for all ages and is a great way to spend time with family and friends whilst abroad. You can get great family and school deals and it's not too far from any hotels. The food available is also great and there are plenty of ice-cream stands and cold drinks to keep you going through the day. I'd DEFINITELY recommend this theme park when visiting Spain. I am such a sucker for Theme Parks and Port Aventura has a place in my heart. No doubt. This theme park got me hooked to adrenaline and extreme rollercoasters from a really young age. This beautiful park, located in a warm, nice area 1 hour from Barcelona, has a unique design. Divided in, 5 "countries", you will be able to travel to the beautiful Mediterranean, Polynesia, the Far West, Mexico and China. The detail, cleanliness and ambience is spectacular and it has everything you want in a theme park. Water rides, rollercoasters, arcade, game areas... The only thing I do miss though is that a lot of the visual effects and some really good rides have been removed. The detail put in the earlier Halloween Seasons or Christmas was unbelievable and I feel it has been lost though. Quality has been a little compromised, but it still is a REALLY good theme park. I wonder why the changes though...different management? I would bring back the street performers, music and effects that took place around the park and would open rides during the Autumm season, because closing them during the week is a little bit cheeky right? I absolutely LOVE PortAventura. I've been here loads over the last 15 years and I always have an amazing time! The park is massive and split into different 'worlds' such as Polynesia, China, The Wild West, Mediterranean etc - the is so much attention to detail and it looks fantastic, the park is well maintained and spotlessly clean. It's really easy to spend an entire day here. Each world also has restaurants and food stalls in line with the part of the world they represent. I went there expecting a mediocre theme park that I would see in every big city, and I was shocked by the Disney/Universal size park in Europe! And the quality of everything is very high, and they only have international brands wherever you look. The characters are all very well known to us, the ice cream and chocolate booths all are selling top brands. The quantity and quality of rides is very high, I would for sure come back here whenever I am in Barcelona again. read more

What a fantastic theme park! So cute, kitch and mega fun! They are currently celebrating their 20th anniversary, so they have a special parade and ribbons and balloons everywhere. Plus really addictive and annoying songs. Happy Birthday to Port Aventura! Standout attractions at the park include: the adorable Sesamoaventura kids area. (The magic fish ride is simple but oh so much fun), the mine ride - le tren mina and the red giant rollercoaster. The food is average but the ice creams are awesome. I would grab a jambon sandwich and avoid the hot food options! Take a photo with Elmo and Betty Boop! Elmo is so cute! The park takes about two days to explore fully. We stayed at the Port aventura hotel which was right next to the entrance of the park- very handy. I highly recommend going here! It was so much fun! read more

This is an amazing theme park. We like to visit theme parks every summer and had yet to experience PortAventura. We were well impressed. There were plenty of rides for adults and children plus lots of lovely places to eat including some really good restaurants. The prices were reasonable for a theme park and we were impressed with the food. We went for three days but you can do it in two easily. The queues during peak season can be long, so plan your trip accordingly. read more

This amusement park was amazing i must have started going when i was really young. The rides are amazing. They have fair prices and lots of gift shops and ice cream and refreshment places to go to, as it gets Very hot in Spain walking around the amusement park all the day. They have very up to date rules of safety on the rides, you have to be a certain age and height to make the ride safe and enjoyable. We walked to this amusement park from our hotel so it is within walking distance of hotels. At about 11pm at night they have a amazing fire works display for all to watch, it left me amazed and stunned as i thought it was nothing but a beautiful sight. There are toilets everywhere and fountain in case you get to hot and need to cool down. They have water rides,roller coaster rides, scary rides they possibly have every ride you could imagine. read more

Great theme park. I came here a few weeks ago on my visit to Salou. I find this place great for value, and the rides are fantastic. I definitely recommend Stampida, it was my favourite ride. There is quite a variety of rides, such as family rides, thrill rides, spinning rides etc. Definitely recommended for a visit if your closeby And it was open till midnight during the season that I went! Awful experience! The information desk doesn't care about our problems and doesn't listen. The seats on the rides are too small for some people but they don't put it on the site. We paid at least 200€ for the four tickets for the two days + FerrariLand and we couldn't do any of the rides but still didn't get our money back. They told us they didn't have a manager in the park and they refused that we speak to one. It was a waste of money and time! Couldn't be more disappointed by the hole experience! If you don't fit in the " mole " you're not welcome. I wouldn't waste my money here. And on top of things we were thirsty and wanted to drink something and we put money in the CocaCola machine and it ate our money. Just and awful day. I don't even have the words to describe it. read more

The hotel is fine for a family trip. The food is not good and definitely not traditional Spanish cuisine, (think tuna from a can on toasted bread and trays of packaged deli meat at the buffet). But, the proximity to the park is great and if you are looking for an affordable place to stay this is it. Just be prepared to get a car to get off property to see the real Spain and enjoy great local cuisine. read more

This was my very first holiday outside of the UK. I first came here in 2001 and then again with some friends for my 13th birthday in.... thinks 2006! The Dragon Khan is a must! The thing is sooo huge I could see it from my hotel. I went on it first with my mum because my cousin wasn't tall enough. I thought she was going to die lol. It's fast and it's quite a long ride. I went in the middle of October so you could just walk through. No queues. The second ride I recommend is the Hurakan Condor. It's like a sky drop. Don't want to spoil the rest for you. You'll find out when/if you get up there! Do not go on these rides if you have a weak heart. Please :) And don't forget to get your photos! read more

Having heard so many positive reviews from friends and online forums, I had great expectations for the park and the customer service. The park was very accessible by train from Barcelona and the walk to the park from the station was around 5-10mins. There's plenty of rides for thrill-seekers like Furius Baco and Shambhala. Definitely worth returning for the roller coasters. The park is also child friendly as there is a small kid's park and the food is average in quality and price, however, this is expected from most theme parks. My only and biggest concern is their lack of proper training in customer service. After living in North America for many years, I am accustom to their customer focused attitude. This was a total opposite in PortAventura Spain. For example, my friend had lost his hat on the Silver River Flume while descending on the last slide and after reporting the incident to the staff working at the location, they responded by directing us to the customer relations booth to file a lost & found form. We did just as they told us to, but from the vibe we was getting from the staff, we had a feeling they wouldn't care enough to even look for it. So we came back to the site to scan the surroundings for the hat. The colour of the hat was bright red, so it can be easily found. We spotted the hat (not in the water) on the rocks in a "staff only" path on the side of the ride. It was visible and easily reachable by the staff (we even pointed out the hat to one of the staff members) and we asked if they could return the hat to us after the ride/park closes, so they told us to come back then. After coming back to the park during closing time, the staff members quickly changed their mind and refused to get my friend's hat, and complained that it was getting dark and it's not their responsibility to find the hat. We asked if they can contact a security guard or their manager and they refused even further. Finally their ride manager, Emilio, came and told us the same thing, file a lost and found form. We explained that we followed the procedures and the location of the hat and that it can easily be spotted and returned. He showed no sign of care and was reluctant to even help or follow up on the issue. He kicked us out of the park. So, we waited for customer relations to contact us and after waiting for 3 days, we called their customer relations office and explained our situation. They responded by saying it's not their responsibility and that they don't know when they will search for it (it may takes weeks or even months!). They were also reluctant to give us their name for the purpose of following up with the issue and instead, they rushed the call by hanging up on us. After a week, my friend receives a email writing: "Dear Mr. _____, We are sorry to inform you that the lost property required has not been found. Thank you for your understanding. PORT AVENTURA ENTERTAINMENT S.A.U." In no way explaining whether they even try to look for the hat at all. They sent my friend an automated response to shut him up. Hence, why their customer service ruined our overall experience of the park and why we refuse to go back ever since. We are extremely disappointed by the way they handle this situation and how they just brushed this problem off. I hope you don't encounter the same service or problem during your visit. read more

This exciting amusement park is located approx. 100 km south of Barcelona. There is a bus service, but takes 2.5 hours and is not direct. Train or car is best option. The main attractions are of course the rollercoasters (Furius Baco or Dragon Khan to name some). Furius Baco is near the entrance, so the line quickly fills up. It is best visited in the afternoon after the crowds have dispersed, so head straight to the back of the park and try Dragon Khan. There are a couple of water rides as well, so wear appropriate clothing (or ride at the end of the day). A separate water park is adjacent. Food is always available. The fixed meals are a bit expensive at 15 Euros, but you can mix and match for under 10EUR. One day is probably to short to see everything, unless you only concentrate on the top rollercoasters. A special tip to the Hurakan Condor: there is a separate line for single riders (once you get to the roofed waiting area), so this can shorten your wait. read more

There are plenty of fast thrill rides, lots of spinning rides and a few family type rides. There are also plenty of attractions for small children. The park is quite large, but it is easy to walk around without wearing yourself out. It's split into different areas, each with a theme of a different country, including China and Mexico. There are plenty of places to eat, mostly fast food, and it's quite pricey. There are also lots of souvenir shops which are well stocked and have goodies to suit all budgets! This is a great theme park, with a water park right by it. It gets very busy, but as we stayed in one of the three hotels, you get passes for free front of the queue rides. I have been going to Port Aventura for the past 4 years and still think it's great. There's something for all ages to do and see. Each year they have different shows. I always buy my tickets online before I go, usually google port aventura tickets and compare prices. We've always bought the 14 day pass as it's the same price as the 3 day ticket you buy when you are there. We usually go to the park every other day when we are there so the 14 day ticket works out great and even cheaper than two days at a theme park in this country. Excellent theme park! read more

Port Ventura, owned by Universal studios is one of the biggest and best theme parks in Europe. The Spanish climate makes it a much safer bet than planning a British trip to Alton Towers and the theming based around five different `worlds' is both fun and interesting. There are plenty of white knuckle rides including dragon khan, the 8 loop rollercoaster, Stampede, the racing wooden roller coasters and the new ride Furius Baco which is an inverted rollercoaster. Alongside these there are many water based rides, thrilling rides, family attractions and kiddies' rides. Over 20 shows are also performed every day some such as the temple del furgo are particularly spectacular. The park is complemented by the newer addition of Costa Caribe which is a water park with various swimming pools, slides and water features and there are two hotels to choose from if one day is not enough. This is an amazing park, suitable for all ages and is well designed and planned. Food is in abundance and not quite as pricey as Uk outlets but there are places to eat if you wished to bring a picnic. Port Ventura is accessible all the way from the south of France down to the Costa Blanca via train it is about 1 hour from Barcelona and is situated in the popular resort of Salou. read more
