The Long Version: My sister-in-law got my husband and I tickets to a show at the Studio Theatre for Christmas (she also got tickets for herself and her husband as well as my husband's other sister and her husband, so the six of us watched the show together). The theatre is not that large. I do like the seating arrangement though. They have two seaters on both side along the walls, then a big block of seats at the centre. Since we were going with others we sat in the middle block, but if it was just my husband and I, we would have sat in one of the two seaters along the wall. The lobby is small and they have a small concessions stand where they sell candy bars, drinks and cookies (individually put in ziplock bags, it kind of reminded me of my highschool bake sales, lol). The performance stage is upstairs. There's an elevator for those who need it. The hallway that leads to the actual theatre space is lined with show posters from last shows. We went to see The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged. It was a fun show. The look and feel of the theatre as well as the performance we saw all have a community theatre vibe. The ticket prices reflect this. Our tickets were $24. I saw that if you're under 30, tickets are only $12, what a great deal! We had a lovely time at this charming little theatre. They do not have their own parking lot, but they are literally next to a paid parking lot, which is free on weekends. Review #40 (2025)

The building is right on the main street, an old stone structure that used to be someone's house! While we have new construction happening all around us, and people sometimes complain that huge houses are not practical for heating and cleaning, we also have to bear in mind that big houses are not a new idea! Three glorious floors of history greet you on the main street of Perth! A group of several fibre artists spent 3 days in the kitchen - not cooking food, but knitting, crocheting, spinning, weaving, and I think someone might even have been doing some rug hooking - generally doing things that were fibre related. We also had a wonderful display of hand made products. It was truly something to see! On this particular day that I went, the staff was baking scones in the outdoor fireplace / oven, dressed in the style of fashion of the day. What a great idea, and such a treat! I would have loved to be able to see and smell this house in action the way it would have been when the house was built. Things were more difficult without refrigeration, running water and electricity, but they did manage. This building is open to the public, and you can take tours. Pretty gardens and walking paths make it a very nice location for a meal or special occasion. Games provided should you stop by the tasting room to have a drink and relax. Dinner is served by reservation only Friday-Sunday. We arrived a bit early but were seated right away. Our server Matt was attentive and took care to make sure we got what we needed. They are a wedding venue and the menu is limited to 4 main course selections (chicken, beef, salmon or vegetarian). We had some appetizers, the chicken, salmon and short ribs. All were cooked nicely and the portions were large. We all wanted more seasoning, the food was bland and unimaginative despite the menu descriptions that suggested otherwise. We went expecting a fine dining experience and the flavors simply weren't there. I'd be remiss not to mention the wine. The Pinot Noir was young but decent for an east coast red. They offer a decent selection of red and white wines and also serve wine slushes that seemed to be quite popular. All in all it was a pleasant experience.

It's a lovely place - big and inviting, with a lovely outdoor seating area (not today though, with the damp rain and cold). They have an inside area available for wine tastings for weddings. However, there were no tastings planned today, and now that they're closing, likely never again. No bottles are open now that they're closing. To celebrate their closing, Jabulani is offering what is left of their various wines at a discount. This is what enticed us today. I look forward to enjoying the wines we chose, and we wish the owners good luck in their retirement from Jabulani. Also good luck to the new owners, when they take over.

Upon arriving, they will give you a menu of their wines. You can select six to try for free. If you want food, you have to buy a bottle (they said it has to do with laws regarding serving food since they are not a restaurant). My favorites were the Frontenac Blanc, the MCM (a red wine on the lighter and fruitier side), and the Rose. This would be a great place to hold an event such as a wedding, but you would need to reserve a year ahead of time. They said they are already booked up for all of 2018!
