The service was very nice and efficient and the food we ordered was great: the penne with ham in a creamy sauce was copious and very fine and tasty, a nice touch being the fried rucola on top. My soon to be daughter in law had a vegetarian dish, a salad which she was very pleased with and my stepson had a typical northern german dish ( I think) a 'sauerfleisch', 3 big slices of meat in gelly which he found excellent. A place to recommend, and as we live not far we will definitely return there when we are back in this lovely harbour town next to the danish border.

Having tried many steak houses around the world, I can say that this one ranks among the best. Of it does always depend on what you are looking for. The meat is excellent and cooked to the point. It doesn't matter if you like your steak english, medium-rare, medium or medium-well. You'll get what you order. The service is (again) excellent. It's friendly and always attentive, but never pushy (if thats the right word). In short, it's how how I picture the perfect service. The restaurant itself is an all around nice place, located in an old storage building. (hence the name alter Speicher, meaning old storage facility) Almost every table is nice to sit at, so you should have no trouble finding a nice spot.

The menue is made up of several meat dishes, most importantly black angus steaks, rump-, sirloin-, t-bone- and fillets in the usual 180 - 250gram categories with a green hot or average peppers riding on it and very delicious seasoned. Served with grilled potato, salad with loads of ingredients. Also options like corncobs, or -grains with ham are available. The pricing starts at little 10euro fees for small meat dishes or huge salads towards 20 euro for the big fillet. Prices are affordable. Quality is good. Service is always around and pleasant. My recommendation for steak. I've seen lamb as special offer at our table, which looked good. The other table had the 'large' or all-you-can eat spare ribs, which also looked quite delicious. The taste of the meat is really good. I took the ribeye which was tasteful and very juicy. The meal was very filling so you should consider taking a starter or not. There are many funny details in this restaurant. They have their own knives and pepermills. There is a towel on a hook under the table. Last is the way to order. You fill in a paper with your table and wishes for your piece of meat. This to make sure your piece is cooked as you like it.

The staff are super friendly and the food is delicious. I recommend getting a reservation, if you go for dinner. We went for lunch and it is the same menu as dinner. I ordered a local Dunkel beer and the currywurst sausage plate with spicy fruit sauce and a side salad. It was probably the best currywurst I have ever tasted. Even the side salad was carefully assembled with a nice dressing. My husband ordered the breaded and stuffed chicken with spinach and it was also very good. The muesli was excellent. It was served with quark, milk, and dried and fresh fruit. I'd never tried quark before, but it sure does beat the traditional American yogurt! My hubby got the big breakfast. I had some of his bread with the jam and it was divine. Service was friendly and spoke English.
