I was lucky to get to be a preview customer at the new Portillo's Denton! Having been a fan of Portillo's since 2016 this was exciting for me since I knew what it should be about. They did not disappoint. Consistently delivering excellent food, atmosphere and quality service. I specifically love the new self serve refreshment center. I had the beef bowl per usual it was on point with taste, portion and temperature. The sweet peppers are my absolute favorite thing to go with it. The onion rings were perfect as well. The fries, hot and crispy. The chicken sandwich was hot and crispy but took about 5 minutes longer than the rest of our food. If you remember the old whataburger Whatachicken and miss it then here ya go!! It took me back to the good ole days. Then they honored us with a little sample of their famous chocolate cake mmmmmmm so yummy. Probably the best cake around. I'm excited this location is here and ready to rock! read more

Love the Italian beef at Portillo's! We were on the way to spend the weekend with family and had to pick up lunch for everyone on the way. We asked for gravy on the side to keep everything fresh. Everything was packed up nicely and bagged to ensure no leaks. We had our two cats in the car as well, and the drive thru team members made our day by drawing a cat on one of the napkins for us to discover after we arrived at our destination! Nice to live in Chicago for five years and would eat from them all the time and then every time I go there and visit I eat up there at it. The food here does not taste the same and I know they're working on it and hopefully they can make it taste as close as they can to the restaurants in Chicago Was good but the burger meat was a little burnt I went there again the other day the hotdogs taste the same the Chicago dog. I haven't tried the burger yet. I'm gonna give them a little bit of time so they can train their staff a little bit better before I buy a burger from there again the fries don't taste the same as Chicago, hopefully they can work things out we will continue to keep going there often on I still like the Chicago dogs read more

First of all, I have to say that I got a free bacon cheeseburger for my birthday, which could bias me to some degree. At the same time it was really good and the bacon was excellent and the hamburger had a little bit of crunch and was really tasty. I had been to the one down in the loop in Chicago in the past and didn't quite realize the degree of their expansion. I will go back here as it was probably the best fast food type hamburger I've had in a long time. PS: I was going to eat it in the car but after going in, I ended up staying inside as I like the ambiance and the spread out size of the interior. Havent had Portillos in about 10 years now and let me just say, better than i remember. the restaurant is so nice. the manager Geoff was also great. I made a rookie mistake and didnt get extra gravy for my beef sandwhich but it was still delicious tender melty beef. 10/10 experience will be coming here very often. read more

I had the salad. It was chopped really fine and tasted mushy. My husband had a loaded hot dog and said it was good. We also had a large fry, it was very small for a "large" and a little under cooked. Nice atmosphere, lots of options to go. We will try again. read more

Traveled from Oklahoma to Denton to try this place! First off the jumbo hot dog was an 8.5/10 and the cheddar croissant was a 9.5/10. The French fries were pretty average which wasn't an issue. On the other hand the Cake in a shake was a 4.0/10 which was rather disappointing. The rest of my party stated the same thing and claimed it tasted completely different from other Portillo locations. To me it tasted like an incredibly cheap Walmart cake and didn't settle right with me. Other than that the service was really great and I will be going back again when I have the chance. had to try the new Portillo's in Denton. Ordered a hamburger and italian beef sandwich with fries for both at the counter. Our number was called after a short wait but only received the burger and sandwich. The lady at the counter said she would bring our fries out shortly. We waited 20 minutes and still no fries. I finally went back to the counter and asked about the fries. They checked my order and handed me 2 large orders of fries. They were warm not hot. At this point we were ready to leave anyway. Might give them another chance in the future but not impressed on our first visit. read more

Ok, I had to give it another try since I don't want to base a bad rating on one visit. I tried it again tonight and I got the sausage and beef sandwich with extra gravy. Well, the sausage was burnt all around. It was literally 1/8" layer of burnt sausage casing all around. This made the sausage dry as a chicken bone and I can't tell you if it had extra gravy since it took every ounce of moisture in the sandwich to get the dried out sausage down. That's it. I was craving a good burger late tonight, checked the local open spots and this popped up, as Ive heard the name before I had never tried it myself. I ended up getting there 20 mins before close, and NEVER have I been so accommodated and taken care of so thoughtfully! I was dreading coming in so late, most places would make it very known how upset they would be (Im in the service industry too so I get it but I really wanted to try the hype!!) they lived up to the hype and then some. Had my meal ready within 10 mins, fresh and hot and it was SO yummy!!! OFFERED me extra free sauce on my way out, even asked if I would like to dine in, they were all so friendly, it made the whole experience amazing , cant wait to return back!!! read more

Our first time in. Impressed with the restaurant in that it did not look like so many fast food restaurants. Nice, attentive staff at the counter. Received our food. The sandwiches were quite good and very filling. Served hot and delivered exactly as ordered. The fries were hardly warm and must have been made well ahead of our order. Other reviewers mentioned this shortcoming but should be an easy fix if attended to by management. Will definitely go back to try some of the deserts. read more

Cake and Drinks are great, Sonic has better Hot Dogs. Went back to check out the special sandwiches that they offer. Bread for sandwich seamed to be frozen and thawed in microwave oven. Trying to look and taste like beef places in Chicago. Misses on all accounts. The first week was a mini-disaster with a sign board used to tell what was ready impossible to read from the perimeter, cash register on the Fritz and many more oddities which should have fallen under to management care. Franky I attempted to talk to a manager but he didn't know what to do. Owners fear openings and demonstrated why. Wait a month and the fuzzies should clear out. The recipes will take longer. read more
