They were arrived on time, even when scheduled with short notice. They moved all of our furniture very quickly and packed the trucks efficiently. All of our large items were protected with blankets and wrap. The only item that had scratch was our bedrail from being slid into the truck. Overall very happy with their service. We hired Portland Movers Ready yesterday to move our 12K hot tub and other furniture. Upon delivering the hot tub, the mover broke a side panel. When my husband called the owner he got upset and said it was not his fault as it was cheap plastic. The movers demanded to be paid in cash and no receipt. My husband managed to write down what happened and had the foreman sign the paper. I called from my phone and the owner picked up the phone and I told him I would obtain a quote for the repair for him to pay us back. He said ok send it to me and then we will see. He has yet to respond to our calls, text or emails. I would not recommend hiring this company as they do not provide a contract or receipt and zero liability. Fernando and his crew worked their asses off to move a very heavy, very cumbersome sauna from one side of my yard to the other. They were all super friendly and hardworking, and went above and beyond to get the job done despite the circumstances. I cannot say the same for the owner, Jeff, who was one of the least professional business owners I have ever worked with. When we contacted him to get a quotes, we told him what we were moving and asked if he wanted to come to the site to make sure it was doable, he said no, that it was fine and they do this all the time, and should take well under their 2hr minimum. The crew that showed up did not even have shovels or a decent jack to lift the structure, they had to use my tools! Flash forward to 2.5hrs in and the sauna has moved 1ft and the workers are packing up their tools. I call Jeff to see whats going on and he immediately starts berating me about how complex the job is, how I'm not going to pay, and how his crew should have told him that it was more than a 2hr job. I said that sounded like his problem, not mine, that I never threatened to withhold payment, and that I am probably not the one to be yelling at. It was like trying to negotiate with a toddler. His wife had to call me back and settle on a new plan because he was in such a fit. Original quote was $400, ended up paying $1000 and tipping his men because I doubt Jeff pays them well enough for how hard they worked. He's clearly only concerned with money. He had the chance to come to the site and decide whether his crew could do the job or not, but instead he said no problem, signed his team up for more than they could handle, and then got angry when it didn't go well. I would like to preface this review by saying the crew that helped move our belongings was curious, friendly and funny, they just suffered a bad break. We were in contact with Jeff on 5/6/19 to get a pool table, piano and a few other miscellaneous items moved. We were able to get fit in the next day after an 8 am move he had previously scheduled. Around noon we had called to ask about ETA and Jeff said he doesn't guarantee moving times because jobs take longer/shorter than expected - understandable. He called later saying he would be here between 2-3 and we said you need to be here by 2 or we will reschedule - we didn't want to pay for the truck to sit in traffic, he agreed. The movers showed around 2:15 and got to work right away. Loading went smooth, though they did not remove the slate from the pool table and struggled to get it in the truck. From Happy Valley we headed to Vancouver to drop off the pool table. It needed to go up a flight of stairs the guys had a really hard time getting it up there but made it happen. Unfortunately, the table had been damaged on the corner and the skirt. The crew of 4 spent about 30 min looking at it agonizing about calling Jeff. They did come in two vehicles and while hind site is 20/20, I should have had the other guys go to the next house to deliver the piano and other small belongings. The phone call with Jeff seemed to go as expected, he was yelling into the other end of the line. We told the crew that the company needed to take care of it and they agreed. Got to the house in DT PDX and unloaded everything without incident. Jeff was so busy arguing to get us to agree to pay for 2/7ths of the damage to the pool table that the piano wasn't moved where I wanted it and I could've used some help with moving a couple dressers downstairs. Anyways, I withheld payment, Jeff wasn't happy. I told him he'd get his money less the cost of the repair for pool table. We scheduled a pool table professional to come in today. They don't make parts of the table any more and the repair proposed would still be noticeable. Jeff again tried to split the costs with myself and uncle, we rejected again. Jeff claimed that I could have caused the damage when I helped them get it up the stairs. Honestly, this guy is so argumentative and just too much energy to fight. We have a permanent eye sore now and Jeff got his money less the repair bill of $150. He didn't even offer any discount to compensate us for the inconvenience. One final note, Jeff does make his workers pay for items they damage or lose in the course of normal business. CASH ONLY business but he did offer to take a check or CC. If I had a connection in the IRS, I'd have them sic an auditor on him. read more

GARBAGE!!! Would leave ZERO stars if I could I called and made an appointment for them to move my apartment to a storage unit. The man who answers the phone said they can do it if I can be flexible on the time. I agree since I work from home currently. The day of the move arrives, I call and no answer but receive a text. I ask if they know what time they will arrive since it is the day of and I anticipated the schedule would have been set. The same man responds advising that they don't have time but it will be after their 8 am jobs. 1 pm rolls around and still haven't heard anything so I text and ask for a ETA, I receive a response of they still aren't sure. I wasn't worried at this point since they were at least responding. The man texts me at 4PM ADVISING THEY WONT BE AT MY HOME UNTIL 9PM, because he had no IDEA they would be working a 15 hour job. I call absolute bullshit, either you don't know how to plan or you purposely jerked me around all day, knowing I was leaving the state the next morning. Luckily, I was able to find labor using Oregon Trail Movers and found a Uhaul last minute, and managed to get it all sorted. To top it off they didn't have any consideration for the situation they left me in, and the guy treated me like I was inconveniencing him. He did call me back at 5:30, and advise a crew became free but at this point I had already scrambled to find an alternative solution. Use these unprofessional jerks if you can afford for them to abuse your time, or if they can give you a confirmed time. I ALMOST booked Portland Movers Ready for my move, and I'm glad I didn't. I emailed to get a quote, and there was a strong emphasis on the fact that the business only accepts cash. Suspicious. Anyway, I emailed to find out what the pricing would be, and then mentioned that I wasn't ready to schedule yet. It didn't matter. I received a call the day before my move and it turns out that the person I'd emailed didn't listen and scheduled me for a move anyways. I was really confused since I knew I didn't double book my movers, and they started trying to haggle the start time of my move. First, the movers we had were excellent. They were on time, professional, hard working, positive attitudes, and very communicative. Despite some challenges fitting our stuff into the size of truck, and needing to make an extra trip, they completed the work in less time than planned. And the price seemed great in advance... The problem here is the owner. When it came time to pay, the price changed. The cost of the truck and per hour rate were a couple hundred dollars higher than what had been previously discussed (we had been quoted $1100 for 10 hours, but ended up being charged $1200 for 8 hours). Though I provided screenshots of the initial conversation and quote from Yelp, Jeff insisted that he had told me the updated price in text messages, which neither of us had. This was a terrible experience and Jeff put his team in the middle of it. He was completely not professional in how he spoke to my wife and his movers. He was unbending, and unwilling to consider any other perspective even when he could not produce any evidence of his own quote (note truck prices are not on the website). My wife ended up paying them because she felt bad for the movers, but I would have preferred to just not pay Jeff and have given the movers the cash. The price is a bit too good to be true, and so I would consider going with someone else (we have used Comfortable Movers without any of these shenanigans, and they would have been less than what we ended up paying). read more

I called these guys to see if they do small moves. I was looking for somebody to transport a refrigerator from one house to another. They quoted me $175. I said, oh, I didn't think it would be that much. I then tried to continue the conversation, saying I would let them know if I needed them to do it, but before I could get two words that they had hung up on me.I then texted them letting them know that they had horrible customer service and that I would be letting other people know that. I am shocked at their Yelp reviews. Google review showed almost 5 stars with 500 reviews. These guys are amazing. I called 2 other companies before them and got quoted at $800-900 on the weekend. This company is a third compared to that. They came with all the necessary moving blankets and tools. Got in and out within a little over 2 hours. This was the worst experience. The movers were unprofessional, they were rude and they were not prepared. They didn't leave enough room in their truck didn't get HALF of the stuff! Then told me their boss was a d&$@ and there was nothing they could do drove away, began to unload before I even arrived at the location dint put the legs on my couch or love seat didn't put my tv back up and lost the screws. Portland Movers Ready was my second try after my first movers didn't show at all (see my review for the name of the other company). Unfortunately, they came without a truck. That's absurd. I sent them away. What good are a couple knuckleheads and no truck??? This was miscommunication and the owner did follow up to apologize... although, he did try to tell me that I declined a truck-- I assured him I would not have done that since the truck was the critical element. All in all, it was a major inconvenience that will end up costing me in both time and money. read more

These guys are good. Honest, professional, and efficient. We have used Portland Movers Ready three times this year moving from house to rental and to our new house when it was completed. They show up on time and ready to work. They packed my entire 12'x30' storage unit with boxes, totes, furniture, and random stuff in storage, in 1 26' U-Haul truck! I cannot tell you how impressive that is and how much money that saved me to not make a second trip back to storage to get 2 pieces of furniture and a couple of boxes. These guys did a great job moving all my heavy furniture, loading it in to my rental truck and unloading at the new place. They even managed to get a huge ikea cabinet up the stairs by threading it through the kitchen. Nothing they can't do! I had only a week's notice to move my apartment, and I was already scheduled to be in a different city during my required move. I reached out to Portland Movers Ready, and they responded in less than 24 hours on a Friday. I had to trust them to work with my property management so they could access my old unit and move all of my belongings to a new unit in the property. They called me when they were on their way, and they even finished early. None of my belongings were missing (hey, I wasn't present, and no one was really there on behalf to supervise), and they were all unscathed. They broke down my bed frame, moved it, and reconstructed it. When I followed up with my property management on their opinion on how it went, they said they were impressed with the movers--they were early, polite, and finished ahead of time. Martine and Jesus helped with the first move and I liked their performance so well, I requested Martine (this time with Anthony) the next time. I needed a heavy upright piano moved from one room in my house to another. I also needed a cedar chest and a table loaded into a borrowed truck. I called the morning before I wanted it all moved and they were able to accommodate me. They showed up on time, moved the piano with a dolly to avoid scratching the floors and picked up the piano several times so that the coasters could be placed correctly under the piano legs. Furniture was loaded into the truck, and we were done in about 20 minutes. Nice young guys, efficient and careful. No, they don't provide a truck, just brawn. They have a 2 hour minimum. We just moved from Santa Barbara and we had a 16 foot truck filled with stuff. It took us two hours to load the truck but Portland Movers Ready was so fast and efficient that they helped us unload in 1.5 hours. We had Emanuel and Jesus and they were kind, professional, and very detail oriented. They even stuck around for a bit after to make sure we had all our furniture where we wanted it. I moved in February and I was told one price on the phone and how much it will be per hour which is fine . 3 guys showed up which I requested,but the oldest one smelled like alcohol very strong he was in change looks like. These guys are really good at furniture tetris. Correspondence with Jeff was easy using the contact form on the website and via email, and when I told him I needed two guys who were willing to go up about five flights of stairs he said it was no problem! Though I have a feeling he didn't tell the guys about the stairs because it seems that when I reiterated it to them they seemed a little surprise. Oops. Poor buggers. But they were awesome and efficient and took it like pros, even after they carried my giant couch up the stairs only to find out it didn't fit through the stairwell door. Worked while being personable and cared for all the goods during the move. It was nice to see that good work was not limited to just the first time we used them. We called Portland Movers Ready when we recently moved from our rental home in Portland to a home that we purchased in Gresham. From the beginning of my communications with Jeff, I knew this company would deliver on quality service, punctuality, and careful attention to detail which was precisely what I was looking for when moving my family's precious belongings. Come moving day, the crew that arrived was friendly, energetic, clearly experienced with moving, very considerate of our concerns regarding delicate items/furniture, and they were ridiculously strong! My body was thanking me profusely as I watched them work while I barely needed to lift a finger. ;) At our destination, Jesus and Martin safely delivered all of our belongings in one piece, and the gentleman even brought furniture and boxes to their appropriate rooms, and reassembled pieces they had disassembled for careful transport. Honestly, I felt like these were family members moving my belongings since these guys truly care...and it shows! Not to mention, they even hauled away some junk for us (a $50 cash minimum, well worth it!), which added another layer of "awesome" to this experience. In short, I highly recommended Portland Movers Ready. BEWARE. Our son used them and they were OK a couple years ago. I don't know what's happened, but they have changed. I don't know how they have 4.5 stars. They stiffed us! We reserved a MONTH ahead of time. They accepted our reservation for noon on Saturday. We called as the date neared to confirm they were ready. We sent them a text yesterday. Today when we called at 11 am to confirm we were told that they would be there when they finished their 8am job. We called at noon to assure they had the right address and were told that they didn't know when they would be here. We asked for an estimate and was told that he didn't know WHERE THEY WERE! When they finish it could be a few minutes or an HOUR AND A HALF before they would get to our location. We had no choice but to start moving ourselves because we had a deadline to return the rental truck. THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO CARE! Finally around 2:45 we called again and told them that we were having to move everything ourselves and wanted to know if they would be coming at all. WE WERE TOLD THAT IF THEY ARRIVED AND THERE WASN'T A MINIMUM AMOUNT OF TIME NEEDED, BECAUSE WE HAD MOVED SO MUCH THAT THEY WOULD STILL CHARGE US $225. So they want to show up late, force us to do most of the work and still charge us like WE stiffed them. THEY STIFFED US. We couldn't finish as scheduled and ARE STUCK WITH AN EXTRA DAY ON A RENTAL. If they had any honor or desire to protect their reputation they would have sent their people when they were available and worked for no more than their HOURLY RATE with NO MINIMUM. Don't expect these guys to show up, but expect them to still charge you if they are late because they over booked. Very disappointing. read more

Although the scheduler guy was very brusque and hard to get to listen before he hung up quick after scheduling - everything seemed ok. Pretty quickly moving morning there were a few mishaps (not calling the same phone number they confirmed with to say movers had arrived, new guy they were training - difficulty with elevators (building Super offered to "lock" one set of elevators for the movers so they wouldn't have to fight the doors opening and closing (they told him no, not necessary -even though it was making it all much slower) Didnt bother to use the hand truck in the moving truck but rather carry box by box . To prevent or possibly avoid a problem when it exceeded the two hours agreed upon, I respectfully let the company (same scheduler guy - he said his name was Seth) know that i would be very hesitant to pay for over two hours as the move was very small and things weren't going well. This waste of a human started screaming profanities at me - saying i agreed to pay and now i was saying i wouldn't pay (Never did i say that.) He continued to scream hysterically - call names - said i was a "f - - - ing dumb bitch. Bragged about how he "abuses stupid customers." I have never experienced anything like it. He seems dangerous and in need of professional help. Movers themselves were nice enough guys. I have screen shots of his comments. Would not give them any business. read more
