I went to Porto with a group of friends and they wanted to do this activity, but I wasn't too keen on it at first. I'm not afraid of heights per se, but am not super interested in seeking them out LOL
We got to the stand for my friends to buy their tickets and the guide they were going with was very funny/nice. As he went through all the info about the ease of the climb, I was sold and decided to join in!
The climb itself is steep but it is just steps that you slowly walk up in a line, on which you are all tethered together.
We were with a group of all ages, so I think this would be classified as a very easy climb for all, if anyone is worried about that.
We had been walking around Porto all day so my legs weren't at their best during this climb, but the guide was very patient and didn't get annoyed at my slowness or stops to catch my leg composure as we walked up.
Once we were at the top, we got to take photos and the guide had some celebratory chocolates that everyone got to enjoy.
At the top, you have a very nice view of the whole river, but on our climb day it had been foggy so we didn't have much visibility too far out to the views. It was still a good experience and I would definitely recommend it, especially on a more clear day! read more
