We came here on a Thursday morning around 10, they said they were full and we couldn't do a walk in. We came back at 12:30 after making an appointment when we first were there in the morning. We came for pedicures. Tina was the person who did my pedicure. She was okay. None of the staff were that polite. She wouldn't repeat herself if I couldn't understand what she asked. They had a decent selection of nail polish. Probably the best part was the massage chairs, though two thirds the way through the pedicure, Tina turned off the massage chair. After the fact, when I was looking closely at my nails, I noticed that she didn't cut my toenails evenly--which was odd. The pedicure was okay--not the best one but still okay. read more

They seriously damaged my nail. Two months ago the man was very rough and damaged my cuticle. I began to lose the nail. It looked horrible and I had to keep a bandage on it for two months, mostly because of the pain if anything touched it and also it bulged and looked gross. A couple days ago the top nail came off and the new one is waaaay below the quick. Very painful and awful looking. It will probably take another month to grow out enough to quit hurting. The woman who did my pedicure was also very rough. I am very angry that I have been disfigured and in pain for two months. Getting a simple manicure should not result in losing a nail. I don't like to hurt someone's business but I don't want others going through this. read more

I went on for a fill and a pedicure. the fill was terrible, i think the technician thought if she puts a really thick coat of polish on it will cover a really messy fill. my nails look awful, the edges are rough, and the polish doesn't cover the edge of the nail in some areas and so thick in others. I will never go back to this place. read more

The employees took there time even though i was the last customer. They massaged but my legs/feet and hands/arms for a long time. I wish I had a place this good close to home. I am new to the area and decided to give Portobello Nails a go! I had a pedicure and gel manicure done on 1/12. My nails were done by the gentleman (HA HA). My pedicure was fine. The gel manicure was quite thick and started peeling on 1/15. The gel manicure continued to peel off. I called the salon and made an appointment for Friday, 1/22 at 9:30 am. On 1/22 I drove to the salon and was told that HA HA wrote down the wrong appointment date. I stated that the mistake was not mine but the salons. I was told I could come back later. Unfortunately, later was not going to work since I was going out of town. Poor business on the salons part. This is not the way to gain new clients and treat customers. Since the salon made the mistake they should have rectified the situation. Time to find a new salon. read more

My experience at Portobello Nails & Spa was wonderful!! All the employees were very nice and the salon was super clean. I called ahead and made an appointment, the woman on the phone was very friendly, and they were ready for me right when I got there. There were a few other people there, but it was not too busy. There was a wonderful selection of colors and I found the exact color I was looking for! The manicurist I had was named Tina, and she was great! The people I was with had Tami, Bella, and Holly and they were all excellent as well. They all took their time, did a great job, and were very friendly! I would also like to add that we brought my 5 year old cousin, and they were very nice to her and painted her nails, and were willing to paint her toes, for $5 while we got our manicures. Very sweet! Holly pulled her cuticle nippers out of her drawer not a jar of barbacide water solution and while I was getting a mani I watched them"clean" the pedi spa I just used with my dirty foot towel and some generic pick dish soap! No bleach. Hospital grade should be used to clean the spas nothing less. I was shocked they get away with this Also I was asking her something and my answer was "later" a few times? I've been going to Traci for at least a year, probably more, and I absolutely love her. The salon has reasonable prices, the best pedicure massages, and tons of SNS/dip color options. Traci is always nice and funny, and she always makes sure her customers are we'll take care of. I recommend calling before you come in because they will accommodate you if at all possible, but they do get quite busy sometimes. I came here on a whim because it was close to where I'm staying while in town. I made the mistake of painting my own toenails an hour before I was to go through TSA security and putting socks on. Needless to say when I arrived at my destination and took my socks off I had pieces of black socks stuck to my pretty Bright Orange toenail polish, fail! So I called this nail salon around 9:30am and they had a full book until noon, I didn't want to wait that long because I wanted to get on the beach! We decided to get our spa pedicure while on vacation in St. Pete. We made a reservation and luckily we were given a spot right away. Their service was good. The salon interior and pedicure tools were clean. We were given a complimentary drink. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The instruments used for the pedicure are sterilized by the autoclave (the safest way to make sure the instruments are sanitized.) Call for an appointment and your time is respected. This has become my new salon in the past few months. I left my old salon because pedicures became less than 20 minutes per visit. At Portobello, I'm able to relax and enjoy a 45 minute experience and not feel like I'm being pushed out for another customer to take my place. Also, I switched to doing powders before coming here and was very disappointed. Since coming here, I am very happy with the SNS dipping powders. My nails are growing and are stronger than ever. Staff acknowledges customers quickly and provides a detailed spa menu. The pedicure chairs look inviting. They offer the up and coming trend for manicures, SNS Dipping Powders. SNS is marketed to be healthier than gel nail polish because UV lamps are NOT used in the dipping process. However, this salon used an electric nail drill to buff my natural nails before the dipping began. I personally do not like electric nail drills, especially if they hit/knick your cuticle, ouch! The process also takes a bit longer than the gel polish manicure. Once the dipping is complete, the nails are thick, almost like acrylic. They feel much less natural than gel nail polish. If super strong durable nails are what you are looking for, SNS dipping may be right for you. However, if you prefer a more natural feeling nail, stick to regular polish or gel polish. I am usually able to get 2 to 3 weeks wear out of either a gel polish or SNS dipping powder, especially if I select a french manicure. Hope this information helps! read more

I went here for a pedicure yesterday and they were very accommodating with the appointment time and promptly seated me and the service was great. However my pedicurist was aggressively trimming the cuticles on my big toe and accidentally cut the skin, not once but twice and I flinched the first time but actually had to move my foot from her hand before she stopped. She apologized when she realized and I didn't think much of it but it was still hurting after I got home. And today it was bothering me all day, so I uploaded a picture of the dried blood and inflamed skin on my big toe that I now have after visiting this place.. Beware of pedicurists that are on autopilot when using sharp objects on your feet. Lame. read more

Horrible! If you are traveling or even live here don't go here. Horrible service and quality. I asked for schallac and the did gellish instead. Then the polish bubbled up and came off within 2 days. Also they mangled my cuticles and filed the tops of my nails so thin they split and tore. My nails are still healing and this happened a month ago already. The reason for the 3 stars is they are in need of new pedicure chairs and fresh towels. Some chairs don't operate properly & the towels are worn with threads. What a nice little surprise this place is. I was visiting from another state and in desperate need of a mani/pedi. I called first thing in the AM and they got me right in. Traci, the manager, is awesome. She did my shellac mani while I got a deluxe pedi to save me time, even though I didn't even ask her too. She did my nails exactly how I wanted and was very caring to ask how I was doing and if I was enjoying everything. I watched, as all the customers who came in as I was finishing my pedi, just seemed delighted to see her. She's a terrific manager and nail tech.
