This is my 2nd favorite location. It always looks packed but the lines move very quick. The freshness of the food and pastries is always on point. Their drinks as well. Customer service is always friendly and professional. I don't think I've ever had a bad experience and we come here very often. Took my mom to Porto's to celebrate Mother's Day! Since it was on a Thursday, we decided to celebrate a little early. She had always heard about Porto's and had tried their cakes before, but she had never actually been there in person. The food here is always delicious, and their desserts always hit just right, they're not overly sweet and have great flavor. When you first get there, there's usually a line you have to stand in, but don't worry! It moves pretty quickly, so don't feel intimidated by the wait. The workers are also always helpful when taking your order. Despite it being busy and loud in the bakery, they always have smiles on their faces that make the atmosphere feel welcoming and comfortable. Overall, my mom was genuinely happy and really loved the Red Velvet cake I got her. It was like watching a child walk into a candy store with the huge smile she had on her face. I've been coming to Porto's Bakery for years and have never had a bad experience there. The prices are also reasonable considering the quality of the food and desserts. I love this place. We were down in LA and wanted to have lunch before we went home. The one close to us had a line down the block so we came to this one and got in. It had a shorter line and I think this one is bigger to. The staff here are amazing and work hard getting us through the line. There was a parking lot in the back. It was packed but we were able to find a spot. The place is really big inside. Lots of spots to eat here. They have lines going in both directions of the front counter. Two counters in a large L shape. We went to the left. We waited about 12 minutes so not bad since the place was packed. We ordered a lot since we are not down here that often. The lady at the counter was so nice and friendly. Very patient since we were looking at everything to order. Didn't want to miss anything We ate some of the stuff there and of course took a bunch home with us to eat at home. i was in a craving for tuna fish so I got the melt. It was so yummy and hit the spot. The wife got a Strawberry pastry. It was amazing. We got the cheese bread that we love. and some other pastries for home. Everything was great as always. This was my first time going to Porto's. The lines were fairly long, but don't be intimidated - they move very fast. The gal taking our order was very sweet and made sure our order was correct since we ordered quite a few items. The other service members were very kind and attentive. My husband ordered an ice coffee, it was mostly milk with a splash of coffee. He wasn't a fan of the iced coffee. However, I ordered the iced matcha latte and it was wonderful. I love coming to this place, when I'm in the area. This is a special treat for me since there isn't a Porto's in my city. We like their pastries and food. The place is very busy almost all the time. When you walk in, there are two lines. One line is for food and pastries ordering and the other is just for pastries orders. After you order you go and stand on the side you order from and wait for them to call your name to pay. If you ordered food, when you go to pay, they will give you a pager to pick up your food, on the side you pick up your food. It was a little confusing at first, but after you do it. You get their system. We ordered a bunch of pastries to take home and some lunch. For lunch, we both order a sandwich and soup. Both items are pretty good. The clam chowder soup was loaded with ingredients. It had really good flavor. The sandwich I got was the Cubano. It was supposed to be like a panini, but it wasn't warm enough. The bread was toasty, but it was not warmed enough to melt the cheese or heat up the meat. I only ate half and saved the rest for later. I heated it up the next day in the air fryer and it tasted better. My husband ordered the tuna melt and that one tasted really good. They are pretty known for their cheese rolls. They are so good when they are fresh and warm. I really like the cheese rolls. We also order chocolate croissants, strudels, and a strawberry custard croissants. They were all so good. I recently came in to dine on a weekday morning because I was in the area. I have had the pastries and bakery items from here a bunch of times, but rarely have I came to dine in or for their lunch/dinner food!So first, I've never had any of their drinks before but I tried the Porto's House Cold Brew and oh my goodness it was actually so so good!! I loved it, I will definitely be getting it again. It wasn't super sweet at all, but nor was it bitter! I also tried the seasonal corn/bean poblano pepper soup. 10/10! I really liked it. You can get it in a bread bowl or in a cup. I chose the cup, and it still came with a piece of bread which is cool. I do know if you order the bread bowl to go though, they'll give it to you separately instead of placing it together! Side note, I picked up some bakery items while I was there as well, but a worker let me know that if you don't plan on getting any bakery items and only food you can just go straight to the register instead of getting in the line. Someone I was with didn't know that so thought I'd share! The girl who helped me was really nice, she answered my questions about the coffee and didn't make me feel rushed or bad for asking at all! If you're from Los Angeles, you know about this place. If you don't, you've probably been living under a rock. I've been to three of their locations. I come here the most since it's the closest to where I live. On any given day, it's going to be packed with customers. It's common for the line to extend way past the entrance. No one cares about the lines. Why? You consistently get delicious food at a reasonable price from extremely efficient and pleasant staff. This place is famous for their baked goods, but they have other stuff too. My favorite items include the potato balls, guava strudels, Parisian chocolate cake, fruit tart, Cubano (Cuban) sandwich, and strawberry smoothie. There's a bunch of other stuff I like, but I'm going to stop here since I'm trying to keep my review relatively short for once. There are so many reasons why I love Porto's. But here's one final reason. Tipping culture is getting out of control. Not at Porto's. They don't even give you the option to tip their employees (even though they will bring food to your table if you dine in and clean your table after you leave). They have several locations but their bakery has so many options for everyone, from savory to sweet you'll find something during your visit. We ended up taking several pastries to go. My favorite thing here is the potato balls you honestly cannot come here without trying them! If you can, try all of them. If you can't, then you for sure have to try the original (papa rellena). The seasonal turkey one in November is amazing too. They pack so much flavor. I'm a huge mashed potato and ground beef fan, so that combination together is just sooo good. The chicken croquette isn't bad either, but not my go to order. The matchas and coffees are pretty good too. If you like sweeter drinks, you'll love it here. If you're not big on sweet drinks, you can always ask for it a little less sweet or add an extra shot. Parking can depend on the location and it can get a little busy because they're popular, but the inside is always nice, spacious, clean, and there's plenty of seating. Porto's is sooooo organized! They are always busy but somehow they are quick and efficient! I normally order online but I didn't plan in advance this time, so I went in and once I entered they had someone in the front greeting and directing us to the left or right side based on their lines. They have multiple people taking orders and ringing us up. From the time I was in line, to when my order was taken and when I was rung up, it was less than 5 minutes, I was very impressed! Ok, This place is crazy. I mean crazy good! Do not expect fast service because they are so busy! And that's good! That means everything is fresh. They have 2 pastry lines and still both lines are busy. There is a nice lady who directed us to the shorter line. I was unsure if we could order coffee along with pastry or separately. But we pay for everything at once and then pick up the coffee at the coffee bar. So to clarify, the process: You go to the pastry line. They write down your order. Then they go and gather your pastries. Then you pay for your order, and if you have sandwiches or bread to be sliced you will be given a buzzer. Drink orders will need to be picked up at the coffee bar with your receipt. They will yell out your name when the drink orders are ready. I bought so many things but I have not tried all of them. I have tried their popular potato balls which is 10/5 And their iced mocha (mix it first don't be like me and assumes it's been mixed). 5/5 I will add more reviews of the other pastries when I get to them. I spoke with Alexander on the coffee bar area and he is so nice. He was so efficient in getting everyone their coffee. With the number of people waiting I was impressed with the team at how fast they got their coffee orders done. He suggested I tried their seasonal stuff because it is amazing. I can't wait to have it soon! The sandwiches took awhile but I think that's because they're all made fresh to order. No doubt I would go back often if I live closer by. All the staff we interacted with were super friendly and did not seem annoyed. Parking was easy to find around the area. You can never go wrong with all the pastries that Porto's have. A friend had work in the Downey area and any time he is anywhere near Porto's he stops. He loves Porto's. On his return home he stopped by the local watering hole where a bunch of us gather to have a beer after work. With him, he brought a box of Cream Rolls from Porto's to hand out. (Traditional puff pastry made with European-style butter with Porto's signature cream cheese filling, topped with sugar). Holy shit! Absolutely delectable. Perfectly flaky, dusted with crystals of sugar, and that cream cheese filling. Wow! That is definitely not the Philadelphia stuff found on a bagel. This was next level cream cheese! Creamy, smooth, sweet but not too sweet. Perfectly sweet. I had never before had a cream roll, now that I have, I'm not sure I'd be satisfied with anything other than Porto's. The bar was set high. The best bakery in town. Portos is worth the hype everything here is delicious. It has become a tradition in my family to get a Porto's cake for everyone's bday and we always enjoy it. We have tried most of them at this point but some stand outs are the Tres leches cake, mango mouse, and the chocolate raspberry. Additional, the cuban food is also very delicious and actually tastes home made not overly processed or greasy. Some stand outs for the food are the plato de pollo and cuban sandwich for me. The plato de pollo is a tender chicken breast in a citrus lime marinade it's sooo good and definitely my go to. Ambiance is always loud and busy which can be a lot and service takes a while because it's always busy (but honestly it's worth the wait and you can order ahead) the only thing you cant order ahead is the food plates so that's kind of a bummer. The only thing I don't love from here are the drinks they matcha is too sweet and doesn't taste like matcha and the guava lemonade didn't seem to mesh well imo but ive heard the coffee is great so maybe stick to that if you want a drink. The service was super friendly from the moment I walked in, and the wait time was quick. I ordered the steak torta and a hot vanilla latte, and both were excellent. The torta was so good I ended up finishing it in my car before even driving home. The space itself is lively, clean, and welcoming. I originally came here years ago for desserts and a birthday cake (which was beautiful), but I was honestly surprised by how good the savory food was this time. Got two orders of the grilled citrus chicken plate, a soughdough french baguette, some potato balls, chicken croquettes, chicken empanadas, two baked ham & cheese croissants, a churro croissant, and a tiramisu cup. Came out to like $60...Even if this place is affordable, it'll add up cause you'll probably by a lot lol. Quality has always been really consistent! Haven't had an item I didn't like here. Perhaps I'd skip on the churro croissant next time because I felt it was fairly hoo hum. Good, just not spectarcular and I didn't want to get it again after trying it once. While I was ordering, Natalie went above and beyond with my order and let me try samples of the pumpkin cold brew matcha since I was hoping that they would be able to do a 25% sugar on the drink. Natalie offered me a sample of the milk and matcha to try in order to see how the flavors would be. The milk for the pumpkin matcha is sweet and the matcha was a thick premade matcha foam.
