I brought my son here for potraits a few months ago. Portrait studios are totally not my thing. I cannot stand posed or staged photography. I prefer to take my own photos of my child and I think they usually turn out better than posed portrait crap. In all honesty, the only reason I came here was because I had a gift certificate. Oh, and also because my entire family thinks I'm a terrible mother for never getting lame portraits of my child. The horror! That said, I had a decent experience here. The photographer was really nice and did a pretty good job with the tools she had available. Or maybe it really helped that my kid is very photogenic? She even said at one point that my kid was one of the cutest she had ever photographed. Maybe she was trying to sell me. Either way, I was happy with the photos. My favorite part was that they didn't use those horrific backdrops with trees and foliage and other ugly crap. As for pricing, I am sure they are a bit more expensive than say JC Penney or Kmart. However, those other studios use one of those stationary cameras and Portrait Innovations does not. They are free to move around with a handheld camera. Use your judgment. read more

I feel they are not professionally trained photographers. Looks more like someone showed them what needs to be done and based on that they just take pictures. We went there for our family portrait with our 2 month old son. A big mistake. The session was so long and the photographer took pictures where my husband and kid faded into the background. The brightness was too much. Also part of the head, leg etc got cut off. The photographer took pictures of my baby in bucket and basket. My baby barely fit into the one day old baby props. The pictures were not of good quality. I requested for a retake of the session and they agreed. We reached on time for the session. We had to wait an hour and some to get to the picture session. By then my 2 month old was too tired. This time the pictures were not bad. This photographer was a good host apologized for the delay and made us feel better. Also she provided the new prints at no cost. By the time our photo session was over it was into closing time. The staff started cleaning up and vacuuming. I am highly allergic to dust. Staff seemed very unprofessional. If you are going to spent this much money then I suggest not to choose this place. Not worth your money. read more

The whole process took 3 hours with an appointment!! These people are scam artist!! They said the cheapest package was $350. I would recommend going to a place where they show you the packages up front so you don't waste your time and money. Alona (or something like that) was our photographer. On Dec. 20th 2019 my daughter and I took holiday pictures. My appointment was scheduled for 5:50pm, didn't even get our pictures taken until around 8:30pm we were rushed and the photographer didn't get many good poses to choose from. At the end of the session I was not able to take my pictures home because the printer was down, then the next few days they gave me the run around about the pictures, still didn't get them ....still don't have them and today is Jan. 2nd. I working in Media/Advertising, dealing with photo shoots often and when my Grandmother told me we were going here for our family portrait, I was slightly enthused because of the non-traditional photography studio environment they provide. Wow, was I wrong. The session was horrible. The photographer-- only a professional because he is paid to take pictures, not because of his skill, was horrible. The store manager, horrible. Get the idea? These people do not know what they are doing and have a difficult time posing and shooting a group. If you are taking your kid to them, it might be better, but don't go to them for a group-- that not in their wheelhouse. Unfortunately, my family does not live close, so we will have to wait for year to try again- I think we will just hire a wedding photographer to take the photos, at least they will have some skill with groups. read more

I have been getting my children's pictures taken here for many years and this last time was THE LAST TIME! It's the holiday season so of course they are busy but one of the things they are known for is the fact that you get your photos back the same day! So this time "their printer was down", ok I can understand that but when I sat down to choose pictures the quality on the screen was horrible that's strike two! Then they also explained how they went up on their prices SIGNIFICANTLY! That was strike three! Also they would usually send us an email with the pictures we purchased and that also did not happen! This place is horribly managed. Photographer was very inexperienced. They were running behind on all appointments, took half of the photos that they promised, took 2 hours to get photos printed and they were over cropped! For $237, I have photos with my daughter's feet cut off and her head on the edge of the photo. Not even frameable. They also didn't have the background that they advertised for spring, they ask you to choose something else. Customers were leaving angry because they were running hours behind. Terrible experience. We had a 5 pm appointment for our 6 month old. We walked in the door and there were at least 30 people waiting for their photos. We didn't even get called back until 7:30! 2.5 hours after our scheduled appointment. We live 40 minutes from the studio and didn't want to miss his 1/2 birthday pictures otherwise I would have walked out the door. The pictures were only ok. My normally happy baby was fussy and difficult to get to smile because he was so tired and overstimulated by the packed room and noise. The entire process took 3.5 hours. The photographers told us that corporate books appts 10 minutes apart and refuses to change it despite constant complaints. I will never, ever return here for portraits again. Disgusting!! read more

I enjoy this place...they take tons and tons of photos for you to choose from...they do only have 2 studios for shooting but it wasn't a big deal..the staff was super friendly and extremely helpful with my 1 year old daughter..our pictures were done after 20 mins and turned out amazing..but I will say they are a tad bit pricey but worth it. read more

I just had a session at the Mayfield Heights Portrait Innovations for my son (4 y.o.) and daughter (2 y.o.) earlier today. The experience was terrible, there is no other word for it. After arriving home and looking at the QUALITY AND LIGHTING of the pictures, I. am. LIVID. Beyond livid. I had an appointment set for my children at 12:40 PM on Sunday. I arrived at 12:30 PM with my children in their "nice" coordinated picture outfits - my son in dress slacks and a pressed button down with suspenders and bow tie, and my daughter in an ironed dress. By the time 1:20 PM came around, after my children had effectively ruined their carefully done hairstyles and rumpled their outfits, I approached the front desk to ask when I could expect to have the photos taken. Another customer was at the desk complaining that they had been there since 10:10 that morning.The not-so-friendly employee told me they would "rush the photographers" and that we would be up in half an hour. Fine. An HOUR later we finally get into one of the studios. The photographer was nice enough, and apologized for the wait. (Note: Her name was Kathleen. I honestly do not believe she is even a professional photographer.) My daughter, aged 2, was getting hungry and tired (she missed her nap waiting to get pictures taken). Each pose felt very rushed and amateurish, with the photographer taking pictures without paying attention to detail (any decent photographer notices if bow-ties, are crooked, if part of a shirt gets untucked, etc). Abruptly, the photographer told me that our session was over because she had to adhere to a ten-minute limit... a TEN MINUTE LIMIT to photograph a 2 and a 4 year old who had been waiting for roughly 2 hours in clothes that they weren't allowed to play in. I felt more time should be spent to get some decent pictures because their moods surely affected the quality of the pictures, but the photographer insisted she had gotten great pictures and I would be happy. Bear in mind that I still had no idea what the price will be... After I made the appointment online, I called the store and asked for a price range of what I could expect to pay. I was told that they were not allowed to talk about package prices over the phone because they were all so "customized" that they couldn't know until we come in, and that specials displayed on their website were decent indicators of their prices. There was a deal on their website for a $19.99 "33 portrait package" which included 33 prints, plus copyright release, which led me to believe the prices would be reasonable, even if not transparent.) I then go to sit and choose which pictures I want printed, what package, etc.To my surprise, the PHOTOGRAPHER sits with me to go through the purchasing process...mind you there were plenty of people waiting for their sessions. Apparently their photographer also works as a sales associate. I sat with Kathleen for roughly an hour looking at the pictures and watching her show me all the "professional effects" PI could do with the pictures, such as adding a "misting" effect around the edges. I got through all the photos and asked her for the price range of the packages available, but she would not provide a straight answer. FINALLY, she told me in order to have just the good photos printed and to receive a CD, would be $569. Plus tax. After more than three hours of waiting, with two hungry and overtired children, and after having to watch this incompetent saleswoman/"photographer" play with filters I could find on Instagram, I was told that I would have to pay nearly $600 to get everything that she had told me I would be getting the whole time. It took another 20 minutes before I weedled the price of the cheapest package containing a CD with copyright to the images. $150, plus tax, for 10 prints plus the CD. I grudgingly agreed out of sheer exhaustion. I didn't want to walk away from this terrible experience empty-handed. I didn't look in the envelope at the pictures until I got home, and now that I have I am beyond upset at the quality. It literally looks like I took these with my cell phone and printed them at CVS. The lighting is terrible! Some are SO DARK while others were lightened to the point that they look like a beauty filter was placed over it. These pictures are a JOKE! I cannot reiterate it enough - DO NOT GO TO PORTRAIT INNOVATIONS. Their methods are akin to fraud - they conceal info that should be revealed (price and quality) to get people in the door, and then refuse to disclose lowest price until HOURS have passed. Had I known of PI's shady sales practices, I would have booked elsewhere. I relied on the statement that the prices displayed on the website were a good indicator of what to expect, and because of this I spent more than a total of 4 hours at Portrait Innovations, and did not hire another studio to take the pictures I need before tomorrow. I will be pursuing this with corporate. PI's practices are NOT okay. read more

We had 1 month old pictures taken here about 1 month ago. We still have not received our photos. When we came in for pictures they explained that the printer was broken and that it would be fixed by Tuesday the following week so that we would be able to obtain prints. When we called to check the status the printer still remained broken. Three weeks later we stopped in the check on the photos. The photo books we ordered were available however the prints were unavailable. We were told that files were lost and they may not have a way to print the pictures. After spending over $300 on a picture session this was unacceptable. We were supposed to hear back from a manager but never did. Finally they told us there was a glitch in the system would need to reconfigure the order and reprint the photos only because we stopped in to complain for the third time. After all of that they offered us a $75 credit that we have to mail in and wait longer to receive back. If I could give zero stars I would but yelp won't allow me so this is what we get! read more

The idea is great portrait services in short order. But, we weren't seen until a good half hour or more past are appointment time. While our "photographer" was pleasant enough she was clearly not a well-trained photographer. She made no adjustment of lights and it shows in our photos and there are some deep shadows, odd crops, and parts of faces overexposed. What she was really there to do was sell photo packages and it's all about upsell, upsell, upsell. As I said she was pleasant enough and knew how to take "no" for an answer so that annoyance was avoided. Overall, however, the quality is just subpar. While they were all in the photo room taking there big family shoot I noticed how the employees treated the customers...it was awful... Never ever use this facility.The photographer was very inefficient.She couldn't make us sit aligned even though we showed her a portrait they had hung on the wall for her reference. When we complained that pic was not upto our satisfaction, the manager (who was also the photographer) told "You can chose not to buy if you don;t like." When we said we came her and spent time to get a portrait,she told "Hey,I spent time too!" Very very rude approach. All of our pics were hazy and out of focus. We've had several family photos taken over the years at the Mayfield Hts portrait innovation studio. This was by far the worst experience and we won't be back. After weeks of planning, we scheduled an appt for Saturday 12/28 @ 2pm for 18 people. We arrived on time- but studio was an absolute mess and very unorganized. Staff seemed very inexperienced and had a hard time seating us for portraits. While looking at photos and picking out best photos, we were told that the printer had just gone down and we would need to come back to pick up. Sunday we drove 45 mins to pick up pictures/ website said open until 6pm. We were there at 2pm. Manager was in the studio- was very rude and stated she didn't care what website stated "they weren't open today"- pictures were not available and some were not able to be uploaded to the system. We could try to come back on Monday. She would be there from 8a-10am. we showed up Monday - other customers were also waiting to pick up pictures. No on showed up- no one called. It is now Thursday 1/2/2020. I paid for portraits on the 28th of Dec (Over $300) I have returned to my home State of Texas and still don't have my photos- nor will anyone answer the phone. At this rate, the studio is guilty of theft- I paid for a service/ product I never received. I want a full refund- but can't get anyone to answer the phone. Frustrated that manager who was at the studio did nothing on Saturday- this issue was not new as others had portraits taken earlier in the week and didn't have photos either. Wasn't provided a contact number for higher up personnel just a customer service email- that no one has responded to. Please tell me how to get my money returned. read more

Went to take pictures and was basically forced into paying for more pictures with the reward of a free canvas. I was promised by an employee that they would call me when the canvas was available but never got a call. Long story short I never got my canvas. After multiple and I mean multiple attempts I was finally given an email for corporate. They don't take calls which is idiotic because trying to type out a complaint is harder than you think because there is no verbal dialogue or ways to ask follow up questions and etc. Not only was the photographer racially insensitive to me and my daughters braided hair but she received numerous complaints that day. It was extremely crowded & after a long wait I let her take my pictures out of desperation. When I finally emailed corporate I was basically left with the responsibility of checking my receipt which isn't presented until the end of the conversation & had nothing to do with the photographers promise. I assumed she was trying to do damage control from previous complaints & because she made my child cry because of her insensitive comments but she was only worried about her commission. After spending years patronizing this company, spending hundreds of dollars I was treated like shit and only after the 2nd complaint email I sent was I offers a....wait for it...$15 gift certificate! I wasn't looking for a hand out but instead the gift that I was promised and paid for. The policy sucks and this company should be held accountable! Period. read more

Never do business with these people. I brought my family in from 3 states and they ruined our photos. They weren't just poor quality. They cut people out of the pictures. The canvas photo had my mom and daughter in law and grandson wrapped around and cut off the canvas. I tried to get them fix. The manager was so rude I refused to set foot in the place again. They never sent me the corrected photos which they claimed they did. Btw I live 40 min from this place and they couldn't be bothered to simply put them in the mail / assuming they really did it. They never sent the "package" things we order (calendar and Christmas cards) and best of all no one from corp would ever return my calls. Run the other way. These people are bad photographers, rude, and don't fulfill the items you paid hard dollars for. I paid 400 dollars which I will never see and never get what I paid for. I prefer a non-traditional style of photography. This place is o.k., but if you have an appointment, and your kid is in a bad mood, like mine was, then you can forget about good pictures. Photographs and photographer were wonderful. However, I was led to believe that when I made the $300+ purchase that all the images from the session would be released to me in high res. After I got home and downloaded the disk, I realized that only 15 images were in high res. Called back and spoke with a very rude and unprofessional associate, Ashley. She told me that I mis-heard what the photographer said. I know that I specifically asked the question, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered spending the $$$'s. Ugh, second time going, and what a mistake. Pricing is way to expensive and confusing as well. Went in for the summer 14.95 advertised package, and ended up spending way more because of their pricing per sheet/policy. Also had to go through 100 pictures over and over again,with the photographer to "find my favorite." was seriously stressed and irritated with entire process. After an hour still didn't get what I was looking for. I have no plans to ever return, the pictures weren't even that unique,pretty much just basic shots. I have had much better experiences at JCP portrait studio. Planning to go there next week to have the pictures retaken. read more

Horrible customer service. Came early for an appt and they were not runming on time at all. Ended up waiting an hour. Manager was a rude woman. They mispelled pictures on a book we bought with my daughters pictures in it. Worst of all they have tons of pictures on their walls with but no variety of people if u know what I mean. Our 12 family members had an appointment for a group photo scheduled a month in advance for 2 PM on 12/26/15. Studio portraits our typically not our mantra but we opted to go this route for expediency and convenience while the family was gathered over the holiday. When we arrived the waiting area was filled with about 30-40 people. We quickly realized they were all waiting for their photo shoots. We asked the receptionist after waiting 30 min when we can expect to sit for the photos. She said there were "5 families ahead of us". That would be at least 1-2 hours wait time. Frustrated (we had 5 kids aged 1-8) we stated why have an appointment if the wait would be so long?! The representative responded "corporate has us schedule every 10 minutes". We debated leaving but knew how important this was to our mom who is aging and opportunities to have us all together are slim; we were captive to the waiting. The shoots went quickly (the rules are you have very little choice on background and we had to shoot in 2 separate rooms). Then came the wait to review all the pictures and pick packages. All of us couldn't wait as the kids were hungry and done with it all, so several adults never had the chance to review the photos. A few of us exhausted folks stayed behind and hastily picked through photos. We would never recommend or attend a studio setting again, particulary a corporate beheamoth like Portrait Innovations. First I scheduled my appointment a week early and when I got there they had no record of me so I had gotten all dressed up for nothing just to have to come back another day. Even though I was pretty positive I definitely made the appointment at the right location I started to doubt myself being that I was 7 months pregnant and tend to have baby brain sometimes but when I came back I saw that they had done the exact same thing to another family saying that they weren't booked so they were all dressed up for nothing and had to "reschedule". Then after 2 months of waiting for my Calendar and Hard cover book to come in I still haven't heard anything. The first time I called they had no idea who I was then today when I called with my booking # they finally found me and said that there was a glitch in their system so they're going to rush my stuff to me. Im so frustrated bcus I was suppose to get my things over a month ago and someone should have at least contacted me!..
