The only negative was a very hard, uncomfortable bed, and could not view menu online. So I'll post photos... Bummer was the small village had no wine tasting till the next morning and you could only do a tour. I've toured many wineries in my day and just wanted to taste local wine, but it wasn't possible in this village. Kind of a bummer.

This is a beautiful little hotel in the center of the Rioja Alta region between Haro and Logrono…read more There are several tasting rooms within a walking distance which is rare for Spain. Wine tasting in Spain is not what it is in California in that the wineries are really difficult to get to without a car or through an expensive tour group. Therefore, being able to stay in an area where you can walk to tasting rooms is a nice find. Beware however that the hotel is one of only 2 places you can eat within a walking distance. In the church courtyard is the second. On the plus side, not only are the tasting rooms and wineries just a short walk away, so are some breathtaking vistas of the Northern Rioja vineyards as they back up to the mountains. Definitely worth a few days just to unwind in the natural beauty. Definitely take a short walk up the road behind the church toward the mountains early morning and your eyes and senses will be rewarded!

My boyfriend and I went to the hotel restaurant for dinner and our waiter Asier was an OKAY waiter at best. At the end of our dinner Asier made a comment about my hair. Mind you, I am African American and I wear extensions. He felt the need to tell me that my hair was "not perfect" and that he sees the imperfection in my hair. The comment was very offensive. And on top of that, we get back to our hotel and then hostess sees that me and my boyfriend are obviously upset. So she asks what's wrong and my boyfriend tells her how disrespectful he found the whole ordeal. She calls the restaurant and Asier is still arguing. Speaking over her and cutting her off when she was trying to tell him how rude and offensive he was to us. Mind you I can hear him while standing across the desk from her and he is basically saying that he is in the right on saying what he said. The whole time she is trying to explain to this man that basically he doesn't have to say everything that comes to his mind. At the end of the day, I was super embarrassed and I will not be returning to this city ever again. If this is how they treat their guests from afar i have no interest in visiting and anyone that is not what they normally see on a day to day, just be aware of how they treat visitors that do not look like them. I would give this zero stars if I could

It takes around 35 minutes to drive from the hotel to central San Sebastián. We asked the hotel reception for a map and they recommended us where to park close to San Sebastián Old Town which was very useful. They didn't have that much information about which pintxos bar to visit however. It's good to know that some bars are open for lunch and close during the afternoon and open again for dinner. And other bars only open at night. Classic and beautiful but not too much. The bathroom was newly renovated and the sheets were clean. Only thing we didn't like was the home scent they had sprayed in the room prior to our arrival. If you get hungry there's both the Bailara restaurant (by Enrique Fleischmann) and a snack menu in the bar, in the Iriarte Jauregia Hotel buildning. Tip to guests: Book far in advance to get a better rate. Tip to Iriarte Jauregia: You should definately do something about the big electricity pylon in front of the hotel that destroys the view.
