I love Positive Pie. I grew up eating their pizza and nothing else can truly compare. Because they are a small business with a few locations around the state, you're sure to get wonderful customer service from some of the friendliest folks, most of whom turn out to be your neighbors! I have several go-to pies from them, but my all time favorite is the smokehouse. The bbq lsauce is the right balance of sweet, smoky, & tangy without being too overpowering. The red onions are cooked perfectly and pair well with the blue cheese crumbles and chicken. AND THEIR CRUST IS PRACTICALLY PERFECT IN EVERY WAY!! (Bonus points if you get the movie reference) It's a thin crust with the right amount of edge to hold onto while your sinking your teeth into a slice. I don't know how they get the gluten development to be so perfect every time, but I guess that's last of the magic. It always has great leoparding on it. Depending on how busy they are, you can usually snag a pizza in about 30 minutes. They offer call ahead ordering but you can also buy by the slice. Their menu is stuffed with great options and I'm sure you'll find something that even the pickiest of eaters will enjoy. I usually call ahead & pay over the phone because that's what works best for me, but I have gone in to get slices before. Really cool little spot that we pulled into to grab some grub after a hike. The prices were great and you can tell the food is well out together by someone who cares about the food they're producing. This was my first time at this location and it was just as delicious as the others I've been to! It was take-out only because of Covid. The order took about 20 minutes from when I called to when I picked it up. I love the way they make their pizzas- perfectly crispy crust, just the right amount of sauce and cheese. Yum! This post has nothing to do with food quality. This has to do with service, at no fault to the ONE person working there today. This poor girl was on her own, waitressing, bar tending, cleaning tables. Very friendly woman, working her hardest to serve a near full restaurant. My daughter attended This establishment this afternoon, they felt awful for the woman running the entire place, alone. Food was great, she gave the best service she could with no staff. My daughter got the slip, sent her card back to pay the bill. She gets back another person's credit card. She of course, panicked. Went up to the waitress and said it wasn't her card. The waitress swapped my daughter's card with another persons card. She had to call her credit card company and cancel the card. Very upsetting to her, as it would be to any of us. The waitress was super sympathetic and comped her meal. I hate to write a negative review but this should be made aware. The owners should not have allowed this place to be open with ONE person working, this is how mistakes are made! read more

It has been a while since I wrote my last review of Positive Pie so it is time to update it. This is one of our top three pizza and beer places in Vermont. When you enter the door, the inside looks just like an old Wild West saloon. It's very rustic with a squeaky wooden floor, a long bar and about 12 tables. They always have around 20 beers on tap and a good selection of bottled beer if none of the draught beers are what you like. The pizza here is thin crust and quite good. They bring it out and put it up on a stand on your table so you have more room. Service is always excellent here. Parking is on the street and there is never a problem finding a space. read more

Used to be a huge fan. I would never give one star if not for the fact the last 5 times I have ordered it isn't even close to being ready on time. I don't mind when I call in an order and they tell me it will be an hour, or an hour and a half. What I mind is when you arrive and then they tell you and it's not even in the oven. You have to wait for additional 15-20 minutes. From now on I am going to drive into Montpelier and get Domino's and save $20 per pie. May not be as good, but customer service is certainly better and with inflation every penny counts! The pizza is decent, not the outstanding, one of a kind pizza that a lot of people claim it to be, and the prices are pretty steep for a size that is smaller than most. ($16 for a "large" cheese pizza that's only 14 inches and $2 for each topping) but I'm not writing a review about the prices and sizes. That can all be found in the menu, so I know what I'm getting into when I order there. This review is more about the customer service that I received tonight. The girl on the phone that took my order was very kind and got the order correct, but waited until after I ordered to let me know the food would be ready in 55 minutes. I get that it's a Friday at dinner time, so that's completely understandable, but it would have been nice to mention that before I made my order. After I make my order I feel like I'm in too deep and I'm not gonna pull out because of the wait. I know that's a silly little thing, but I would have appreciated the info up front. The only actual problem I had was, upon arriving at home, I realized that instead of the specialty pizza I ordered, that contained pepperoni, spicy Italian sausage, meatballs and mushrooms (the Carcass), I got a pepperoni pizza. For those of you playing at home, that's 3 toppings short. But my family was already eating their orders and I was hungry and didn't want to wait another hour for the correct pizza to be made, or to go back and get what would be a cold pizza by the time I returned with it, so I resolved myself to stick with the Roni. I then called up to let them know what had happened. I mentioned that I wasn't planning on coming back tonight, but heads up, the order is wrong and if someone is looking for a pepperoni pizza, please don't give them mine for two wrong orders. This is the part that I give a "2 star" review for: I understand mistakes happen, but the mark of good customer service is what you do next. Mistakes give opportunities to make it right, and that makes all the difference. The guy that picked up the phone decided that making it right wasn't important. Shockingly, he didn't even offer an apology, although he did thank me for letting him know. But that was it. He didn't offer a free pizza, or discount, or, well, literally anything at all. I've worked in the service industry for years and, like I said, mistakes happen, but you always, always do your best to make it right. Hell, Domino's gave me two out of three wrong pizzas a few weeks ago and they called me when they noticed their error and made all three pizzas over fresh, let me keep the other three and gave me 50% off my next order. Did I expect PP to go that far? No, but they could have at least made an effort. You pay a premium for pizza at PP, and part of that premium is to support a local business who gives a personal touch. I've had good and bad experience at positive pie. There food is great, and was amazing 5-10 years ago. The quality seems to have gone down. They seem to be in a hole where they're charging money for sub par quality food because they're in the gutters. I hope they find a way to lower the prices or at least increase the quality of what you're buying. They also seem to always lose a good chef that's extremely good at making the pizza and other items on the menu. I want to say I love this restaurant, but in the last 5 years, it's been declining Also, I've heard that at the Montpelier positive pie they tell the workers to cut around rotting meat and use it...... sorry, but what.... do that at home, fine, but not at a restaurant when customers could potentially get extremely sick! read more

Lunch was excellent. One of the best calzones I e ever had. The grilled chicken sandwich came on a soft brioches bun and was really good. The fries were cooked perfectly. When you're staying in Plainfield, (I know, not a lot of places to stay), this seems to be the center of Plainfield's world, both socially and foodwise. Yes, it's a very small town. We had the carcass pizza, which was fairly well loaded with some great meatballs, spicy sausage, and quite tasty pepperoni. Very good crust, tasty sauce, nicely melted cheese. I SO want to love this place, living 4 miles away, with very little else available within a 20 minute drive. The potential is great, but in actuality, it falls woefully short as a decent local hangout, or as a dining "destination". In theory, all the local brews on tap and the NY style pizza has great potential, and the actual setting is pretty cool, but the poor service, the chintzy portions, the cold fries and the mushy pizza more than offset any positives. I've never sent back so much food in my life! Too bad. Attention to detail is sorely lacking. They try to be hip and trendy and local this, local that, but to me, good food for a decent price, with attentive service, is where it's at, and this place don't got it. We only got positive pie because it was the closest pizza place to us when we lived in Marshfield. We've had both good and bad experiences at positive pie. Once, we were put on hold for 30 minutes on the phone while ordering; they completely forgot about us.
