We had an item that needed to be shipped and unfortunately we're given the run around about shipping charges. We waited for help for over 25 minutes. Waited over 30 minutes to be quoted on a sending a package to the Midwest from California...$38.40 for a two pound box. When we decided to make the decision about shipping--less than 15 seconds, the sales associate was ready to set us aside and take the next customer. The sales associates struck out on every opportunity they had to provide decent customer service. We are ready to purchase gifts right out of the store to ship even though the markup on their gift shop items were 20% more than Amazon. We saw items that are $9 and $10 on Amazon (Prime Shipping) that costs $14.99 before tax. read more

just like the epiphany moment when i found out i could go to AAA for most DMV-related things...discovering I could come to the postal annex instead of USPS for most shipping needs was pretty stellar. are we noticing a trend here? yeah government-run services suck. if you're willing to pay *slightly* higher for shipping costs, its totally worth coming to a place like this. practically no wait (if any), handles most shipment options - and drop off for prepaid fedex/UPS/etc, all the packaging supplies you could want (in fact, we found out bubble envelops were cheaper here than other places like walgreens), and friendly service. wham, bam, done. argue with me that USPS can compete with that. read more

Very rude staff... talking the whole time I was there... clearly did not value me as a customer. The clerk's cell phone went off while I was at the register and she was checking it and ignoring me. Felt like they totally did not want me there at all. Would not come back here, they don't value their customers or put their focus on their customers. At 930am on 04/18/14 in store to drop off FEDEX package. It had label and was a simple dropoff. Clerk/Cashier was taking 10 to 15 minutes to serve each customer. I was third in line . Do not go here. read more

Will never do business here ever again.. Ordered a customized stamp on 4/14/2016 didn't even get the stamp until 6/25/2016.. It was promised a 2 WEEK waiting period.. I place my order for a customized stamp for work and paid $41 for it upfront.. They told me the stamp would arrive in 2 weeks and I would get a call when my order arrived. 3 weeks go by... I call and ask why my stamp isn't ready yet.. I had given them the benefit of the doubt and called 1 week after it was supposed to have arrived. The employee told me that he did not know why it didn't arrive and that he would give me a call back later after investigating. Turns out the company who is supposed to make the stamp (they send my order elsewhere to be made) never received the order and they had to resend it. 3 weeks after they re-sent the stamp order, they call me to tell me the stamp finally arrived... GUESS WHAT, The fax number is wrong.. So, 6 weeks later I get the stamp that I was supposed to receive in 2 weeks... and then RE ORDER because they got the fax number wrong. if I didn't call that 3rd week to see where the stamp was at, then I would have waited even LONGER to get the stamps than 6 weeks! I had to drive to their facilities 6 separate times to solve this issue, and gas isn't exactly cheap in California, and end result, not even worth it. They didn't offer me any kind of refund or anything... I asked for one, but the employee said he would have to discuss it with the owner before he could do anything for me. Even after more than 2 months of hassles, I still did not get a refund. Terrible, horrible customer service go to literally any other postal service and you will be treated better and fairly. read more

This probably should be advertised at the front of the store: You have to pay $2 or more for dropping off of a prepaid package for USPS and $1 for a couple pieces of tape on the top of your box. If don't have cash, you're asked to spend $5 in order to use credit card. Everything is overpriced in the store for example, a mug is $12.99 and candles are $30. If you go to UPS, you'd be able to drop off for free with a drop off receipt. read more

Please avoid this place as they will lie to you and charge you extra. My contract ended around July and I went out of town for 2 months due to business. As I was back in San Diego, I went ahead and wanted to renew my contract. When I went to renew my contract, I was informed that I was past due and they will need to charge me extra $10.00. In addition, they will renew my account for 3 more months. I agreed. A month later, when I went to pick up my packages they REFUSED to hand me over my packages. They informed me that I was past due AGAIN. They told me that I had paid for the 2 months I was not here. I explained that the individual who renewed my account did inform of such thing. She AGREED that they misled me but they will NOT be able to do anything about this. Further, she stated that if I need to pick up my packages, I will have to renew my contract again and pay for past due. I went ahead and renewed for a month and paid to the past due amount just to obtain my packages. I will NEVER again work with such individuals who will mislead you and rob you and refuse to hand over your packages, even though they are at fault. PLEASE avoid this place, there are hundreds of other businesses similar to PostalAnnex+ around San Diego. read more

I went to the UPS in the shopping plaza across the street and realized I have been getting totallly ripped off here. What normally costs me $25 to mail through UPS at postal annex only costs like $12. Don't waste your money here. It's the same service that they charge double for. read more

Awful experience. They have two computer registers, but the people working there said they can only use one because the internet isn't strong enough (or something like that) to use both at the same time and the owner doesn't want to pay more for internet. So they only have one register open at a time. This can prove to be a big problem (see below). I brought in four boxes to pack/ship and I was there for an hour and a half. Absolutely insane. I had though that it would only be two packages because I had called in a few weeks prior and described my shipment (two wine glasses with a bottle of wine) and the person I spoke to in the phone didn't tell me that wine would have to be sent separately due to the law. That would've been nice to know so I would've been aware that shipping costs would be higher than I anticipated. Due to the fact that there's only one register they had to stop helping me in the middle of the process to check other people out. They continued helping about six or so people, despite the fact that I was there first and they were in the middle of helping me. If they had two working registers this wouldn't have been an issue... At the beginning of the process I mentioned that I had several of these boxes to send out and I would be back later in the week. Well, after that process and how long it took I politely mentioned I wouldn't be back when I was on my way out because they were going to order more shipping materials to accommodate me. They responded by saying, oh next time you can drop the items off and come back to pay for the shipping later on in the day so you don't have to wait. That would've been nice to know BEFORE I spent an hour and a half of my work day standing in a Postal Annex waiting for other customers who arrived after me to be helped. It was a really frustrating experience and I will definitely not go back to that location again. Find a different location or a different store if you value your time, don't go here. Oh, and I almost forgot, I looked at the receipt and they mixed up the first and last name of the people I was mailing to (I had given them a sheet of paper with the names/address on it) so one of my packages is going to a first name and last name that don't match up. This is a business gift and that looks so unprofessional, would've been nice if they had been paying better attention and not done that. read more

I've always raved about this location. The two episodes in the last two weeks have changed my mind. Two weeks ago I tried to buy stamps, and/or have a package weighed in postage to put on it. Was told no we're out of postage. Today tried to drop off a FedEx, sealed box, with its QR code for label printing. Was told no again. Said we are third-party service and do not take QR code packages. Both times same associate, rude, and lazy. read more

I needed to send some oversized items with high sentimental value across country, and was experimenting with different options to find the most cost effective strategy. Maira (spelling? Mayra?) helped me and she went above and beyond to actually help me, not just go through the motions of doing her job, but actually help me and use her experience doing this every day to recommend the best solutions. She got scrappy with me and helped me extreme bubble wrap a painting...and while I was in there getting help, at any given time she had at least 2-3 other customers needing help which she handled with no stress and no drama. This used to be my go to place for ebay shipments, but they changed so much the last 3 years. Wow, they don't have the USPS priority boxes anymore and Good Lord!! The priority pricing is a HUGE difference from the post office. It was nice before when I came here for the convenience it's closer to home, but I will not be returning at these rates. The notary lady is very rude and has horrible customer service. I had my DHL Express package delivered at this location for pick-up and after receiving an email alert that my package was ready for pickup I arrived at the store to get it. The lady insisted that they never received it and told me to come back the following day and that it should be there by then. I returned the next day and she told me that she had no idea where it was and that they must have signed for my package and never really received it. I called DHL while in the store and once they verified that it was dropped off at the store she admitted that they mistakenly gave my package to another customer. Turns out the customer was on her way to the airport to go out of the country and she would not be able to bring my package back for 2 weeks. The lady was so nonchalant about it and it was obvious that mixups like this happen all the time at this location. So $20 for express shipping and my package is delayed by 2 weeks because of their ignorance. I really hope they close this location so others won't have to deal with what I went through. read more

I went in and wanted to print off one print and they didn't have a computer that was working nor a way to email it to them even.... over all they couldn't do what I needed and had to send me to another mail shop to make my print! read more

I regularly ship with Postal Annex due to the convenience of shipping with multiple companies (FedEx, USPS, etc.), however I always have a bad experience with this location. My first negative experience was around the holidays. I went to drop off several packages to be shipped via USPS. The packages were pre-labeled and ready for shipment. They would not accept all of my packages because some were over 13 ounces. When asking why, they said the high shipping volume around the holidays and the USPS mail carriers cannot carry packages of that weight. Several months later I returned after the holidays to again ship packages via USPS that were pre-labeled. I also had a UPS package. Since it was after the holidays, I assumed there would not be an issue. Again, Postal Annex refused my USPS shipment without providing any information. Due to the horrible customer service and lack of information, I decided to escalate the situation to Jim Bloom, the manager of franchise services. Jim let me know they did not accept my USPS package because there is a Post Office within a short distance of Postal Annex. You would think the employees of Postal Annex would have made me aware of that the first time I tried to ship with them. The customer service at this location is below average, not to mention incredibly unprofessional, I highly recommend taking your business elsewhere. read more

Do you want to mail a book via USPS media mail? Add on $3.00 here. They add on a premium to everything you ship. I got a quote from them on shipping, took it to the post office down the street, and it was about $3.00 cheaper. Also, now they won't take packages that are already paid for to ship out. My label was printed from the post office's automatic postal machine. I took it home because I forgot packing tape. They claim it is because the post office has had problems with not having enough postage on them. When I took it back to the post office, they told me places like this stopped taking already paid for packages because they weren't making money off of them. Do yourself a favor and go to the actual post office, or to the The Mail Bank where you only get charged the actual shipping price, and not a premium. read more

Postal Annex charge more than the post office, understandable since they are a franchise. However, having a few packages with pre-paid labels at 1lb, they rejected to taking them for USPS pick up and advise that I go drop my packages off at the post office since the "distance" is so close. In other words, they're advising customers to save their trip to Postal Annex and go straight to the post office or the UPS store across the street. I went ahead and dropped my packages off at the Mail Bank 1 exit away without a problem. Horrible customer service and needless to say I'll take my business to other shipping places that are closer in "distance" from now on. read more

The young lady helping me was helpful, friendly and attentive, even though I think the customer before had rattled her. What a find! I was helped by a sweet, accommodating sales rep and while there was a bit of a wait (given the holiday season), it was such a warm, cozy environment to take care of my shopping needs! To top it off, the location is prime - in a huge shopping center with Target, Home Depot, Marshalls, etc. Prices are pretty reasonable too which was surprising. I'm definitely coming back! read more

I usually ship packages from the poster annex near my work, but on my day off this week I decided to bring my USPS priority shipping packages with prepaid labels to the store for drop off. The woman notified me that there is a charge here for dropping of USPS packages here but since I was unaware of this she wasn't going to charge me this time. I found this super weird that they would charge for that but made a mental note to drop my packages off at other postal annex or post office for future shipping. So today I decided to see the status of my packages and I noticed that they are still in limbo and have not been scanned into the USPS system. So that means, they have been sitting at this postal annex for almost 48 hours. I don't know what the hold up is, but as a business owner - this is very disappointing. I pride myself on customer service and it upsets me knowing that my clients are not going to receive their products in a timely manner (because of this postal annex). read more

Don't buy stamps here unless you have to have specific stamps and absolutely can't wait until the next business day. I bought 8 books of stamps assuming they charged USPS prices (since they have the USPS logo on their signage). I didn't realize until after I paid that they charged over 40% more than the USPS. I asked to cancel/refund my transaction before leaving and was told it couldn't be done. Stamps are significantly cheaper online, even with next-day shipping. read more
