When I walked into Unikob I got sharp glares and stares that would have outdone the slicing capabilities of any of the shredders the store had in stock. Before I took two steps toward the Post-it section I was stopped and asked 'Can I help you?' by both the store manager and the cashier. Believe me, this was not a customer service induced question; they obviously thought I was bad news. I told them that I was looking for Post-its and when they heard my American accent their faces were visibly relieved. When I was finally taken off of the Stationary Stealers Wanted Roster I got a chance to peruse the store. They have everything you need for your office or for your studies at reasonably cheap prices. I paid £1.30 for a packet of Post-its and I'm quite happy with my purchase. They were quite happy with my purchase too and as I exited the store they were all smiles. So if you're not up for travelling to the nearest Ryman's and you live in the area, this is a good place to go for your clerical needs...unless you're wearing a hoodie.

As I was in a rush and there was 12 balloons that needed to be blown up so the staff member managed to get two more staff and I was out of there with my balloons in 15 mins! Sticking to what I can understand, Cowling and Wilcox has a really nice card and gift selection with a bit more personality than anything you'll find in Clinton's. The writing sets are particularly stylish although they can be quite expensive. Similarly, they have a great selection of Moleskin diaries and books but these can cost anything upwards of £15. On the other hand they have a great selection of arty presents for kids which all seem very reasonably priced and a lot of fun too for that matter! I defy anyone to be too old for face-paints. Cowling and Wilcox is a lovely shop which is well worth a look around if you're in need of anything a bit arty or looking for a more personal present for that difficult someone.

They have everything from portfolios, to canvas, paints, spray paint, paper, printer ink cartridges and much more. A light and airy shop pack fill of supplies all organised clearly on shelves and stands making for easy spending. It is a little on the expensive side, however the quality and quantity of supplies is impressive. Especially if it is a final year portfolio or important presentation. To top it off the staff are very helpful and inspiring if stuck for colour choices or alternative solutions to presentation.

I love the selection of quirky fridge magnets they sell here with text like "I cant be good all the time" and "Old enough to Know better.. too young to give a rats ass" These magnets are by Anne Taintor and I find them hilarious as extra gifts for friends for their birthdays. Another favourite is "Why do dishes when you can do daiquiris" they certainly bring a smile to my face. .

Also on the other hand well placed for picking up the perfect bouquet before starting your commute to the in-laws, or heading off to Sunday lunch at Ma and Pa's.
