I've had a lovely experience at PostureWorks so far. Having struggled with chronic back pain for 10 years, I was struck by the simple fact that I haven't ever had an x-ray taken of my back. Out of the countless back specialists, doctors, and physical therapists I've seen, none have considered such a simple approach to diagnosing my pain. Lo and behold, my spine is off-axis in many spots from top to bottom. This was news to me, although it explains the pain I've been experiencing. I've committed to visiting PostureWorks 3x/week for the most effective treatment following the diagnosis. I must get as much out of this experience as possible, considering the price of each session and the total cost incurred by going so often. My treatment has gone incredibly well so far. The tractions are challenging, especially considering the degree of change we are striving for with my spine, but the effort has been worth it. For the first time in almost a decade, I've had entire days without *any* pain! I can actually feel the improvement day-to-day. It's important to note that all of the doctors at PostureWorks are kind, patient, and helpful. I can't overstate how important this is, especially given the circumstances required by being a patient (i.e., long commute via bus and difficult tractions). Some days I'm *really* not in the mood to have my spine yanked around, but the positivity exuded by the folks I'm working with makes everything feel more manageable. For what it's worth, I practice yoga 6x/week and other mindfulness techniques such as meditation. While I believe these have helped relieve tension throughout my body, I've never experienced such pain-free relief as I have since working with PostureWorks. Overall, if you have severe body pain, the folks at PostureWorks might be able to help. I had recently started to ramp up my strength training, and started to notice some back pain during my lifts. After trying to figure it out on my own for awhile, I decided to research some places to get an extra look at my issues and correct some other imbalances I was experiencing during my lifts. After some searching, I came across Postureworks. I noticed their methods weren't what I had seen at other physical therapy clinics so I was intrigued, and signed up for a consultation. During the consultation, I worked with Elizabeth, one of the senior therapists, who asked me some initial questions about my reasons for visiting and walked me through a 3D scan to get a baseline of how I'm moving. Based on the 3D scan and her own analysis of how I was moving, we went through a series of exercises using red cord therapy to pinpoint possible weaknesses and worked on strengthening them. After working with Elizabeth during the first session, I knew I was in good hands. She's extremely passionate and knowledgeable about movement and the body and it's very apparent in the way she explains things in detail as she's working with you. Long story short, I signed up for additional sessions, and during that time, I was able to fix my back pain with their help. On top of that, I've gained awareness on all of my bad tendencies during my movements and all of my lifts have gone up to all time highs after fixing some of the imbalances. Best physical therapy. The therapists' expertise and professionalism are outstanding. All top of the line equipment and tools. From the digital assessment to the red rope exercises, as well as massage manipulation to release tight muscles. The office manager is so friendly and accommodating that it is a breeze to book sessions. My therapist Elizabeth remembers everything about my body, so she is extremely efficient at responding to my needs. I had back surgery 5 weeks ago, and so far no more pain from my herniated disc. Spectacular! I highly recommend Postureworks!! Postureworks has had a tremendous impact on my life and I am very grateful for all their care, attention and for helping me recover from chronic lower back / sciatica pain. About their Method: The 3D Movement Scan technology is what they use to diagnose the physical imbalances of your body and determine what treatment you should do. The 3D Movement scan is basically a sensor that images your body while in movement and uses software to create a virtual 3D reconstruction of your body to analyze your movements. The treatments are customized to each patient's needs based on the 3D scan results, your input about your body and the staff's assessment. Postureworks has a Pilates Reformer and many other equipment, but the most impressive equipment to me is the RedCord Neurac. This is basically composed of a height adjustable bed with a set of adjustable pulleys over it. The pulleys are attached to straps and bungee cords that suspend parts of your body over the bed and allow you to make movements free of pain to tackle problematic regions of your body. This method is amazing as it allows you to strengthen parts of your body and re-establish mind-body connections that you couldn't before because of pain. About my experience: All of the staff are very professional, knowledgeable and courteous. It is a very pleasant environment and I feel welcome there. I started out my sessions with Kim (the owner) and it was a great experience. She is knowledgeable and was very invested in helping me; with her expertise she was able to quickly identify what I needed to work on and set a plan for me. I am now working with Julia and it has been fantastic, I feel better every week. She is really good at understanding how my body is responding to the work we are doing; she listens to the input I give her about my body and uses that to tailor our sessions according to that. To finish off, Lisa at the front desk is the best; she's really organized, nice and attentive. Final Thoughts: Particularly, I think the sessions are a bit expensive, but when compared to other good physical therapy clinics or to Pilates and Gyrotonic studios the price is reasonable. I don't see Postureworks as a typical physical therapy center, it is not a "rehabilitation" center (which is how many people see physical therapy centers), it is much more than that. The work at Postureworks is applicable to anyone trying to work on or improve their body, be it people with injuries, chronic pain, athletes or anyone just trying to take care of their well-being. Postureworks has been a life-changing experience of physical therapy: in addition to focusing on the immediate pain concerns, all of the Red Cord therapists take a holistic approach that starts with proper breathing techniques and extends to full-body alignment as well as proper sleeping positions. Along with being back to biking and hiking, I can foresee that--happily and unexpectedly--running is in my near-future! Now that I understand and feel my body in new ways, I know how to do minor corrections that will ensure my form doesn't aggravate my piriformis. And during the shutdown, they organized online appointments to ensure I kept up on the gains made. This was a bonus so that now I know how to properly adjust while doing my at-home exercises. As a bonus for someone hunched at a computer all day, my posture is greatly improved. My experience with Posture works was incredible. I've been in and out of PT my entire life being an ex collegiate athlete. Most PTs treat you like a number and your in and out after doing a couple exercises by yourself. Posture works is the exact opposite!!! Postureworks' physical therapy program is life changing. I had an extreme case of anterior pelvic tilt which i've tried to correct on my own over the years but was never successful. That changed after coming to Postureworks. They use a special camera technology which takes a 3D rendering of your body doing certain movements to pinpoint exactly what needs to be strengthened/loosened to create a program from. The program they put me on not only significantly improved the issues with the pelvic tilt but highlighted other issues that needed to work on that I wasn't even aware of. I drive from Burbank to see the therapists at Postureworks because they are THAT GOOD. I came in because I was experiencing knee and hip pain. Instead of getting an MRI and then waiting to talk to a surgeon, I knew that the staff at Postureworks would help figure out exactly what was going on, quick. Our evaluation was a bunch of simple movements with the Redcord system (both movement and static holds). I felt better after just the evaluation! Even though I work out regularly (I work in the fitness industry) there were still many basic patterns that my body had forgotten. After three sessions, I'm feeling almost back to 100% - I know that just a few more and I'll be good to go for another 100k miles. LOL Yes, it's more expensive, but that's because you work with the BEST therapists in the world and you will be better FAST! No more being bored to tears with more clamshells. I have been to physical therapy for over 15 years to address various issues to do with rehab, body pain and/or body weakness. Having suffered a AVM stroke in 2006 that left me with physical challenges including dropped left foot, numbness from below my left knee to tip of my toes that impacts my gait/balance I tried multiple therapies and some helped, but never really made a huge difference. At the beginning of 2021, I started therapy with Elizabeth Rosenfeld at Postureworks in Santa Monica and continue to have physical therapy twice weekly. The improvements in my gait, balance and core strength can be attributed to Elisabeth education as a doctor (PhD) of physical Therapy, her knowledge of human anatomy as well as her expertise using RedCord therapy that separates her from all the other physical therapists I have been to. Don't let the red ropes etc. scare you, this place is awesome. I have attended about 20 sessions at Postureworks and I can't even describe the progress that has been made on my shoulder. I have a severe shoulder injury, that was getting to the point where it was effecting almost all aspects of my life on a daily basis. I was miserable, and another cortisone shot was not going to make a difference. Furthermore, I was not ready to get a new "shoulder." Over the last 8 weeks I have made significant progress attending Postureworks. My range of motion has increased, my pain has decreased, and I just feel better about everything. Furthermore, I feel as I leave each session that I have made progress. Let's face it, there is no secret to physical therapy. While there are many methods, at the end of the day it really comes down to a few factors: (1) your attitude; (2) the knowledge and experience of your therapist; and (3) the work he or she is willing to put forth to help you. Postureworks has been lifechanging! As someone who was diagnosed with scoliosis by age 14, I've felt cared for poorly by all but one of my orthopedic doctors. That doctor sent me to Kim and I have never had a better awareness of my posture and my body's abilities since coming to Postureworks. Put simply, Postureworks is great. But that's too easy. You must know why Postureworks is great. I was sent to Postureworks after my spine surgery to help strengthen several areas of my neck and back as a result of my injury and surgery. Improvement in those areas was expected and accomplished with the help of the skilled staff and modern techniques and equipment that isolate the injured areas to work on muscles that normally aren't activated by conventional therapy. But what I didn't expect is how much my posture and core strength would improve as a result of the therapy. For the staff at Postureworks, it's not enough just to make you feel better or mend ailments. They want to make sure these changes improve your life well after you no longer need therapy. That is the difference between this establishment and others. The entire group is knowledgeable, skilled, friendly, accommodating, and needless to say very pretty. My experience with Postureworks has been incredibly positive for many reasons. The first thing that comes to mind for me is the warmth that I feel from Kim and her staff as soon as I walk into their space; it kind of feels like a home away from home.
