Oh my word! Walking into Potbelly with my husband was like finding my people. First of all, let me explain something. I'm not a sandwich girl. Nor am I a salad person. But I've seen the sign and heard it was good and we were looking to try somewhere new so we stopped in. My husband got the meatball sandwich on wheat with Baked Lay's and I got the Mediterranean on white with salt and vinegar chips. Everything was INCREDIBLE! Not only did the food truly sweep us off our feet so much that I actually forgot to take photos, but the staff was amazing! See, I was actually born in Midland but we moved away when I was six. I've lived in Albuquerque the last 10+ years and just moved to Odessa about 6 months ago to marry my husband. I complimented one of the girls behind the counter on her incredible nails and asked for a recommendation being new in town again and the girls were so friendly with making sure I had whatever recommendations I needed! It made me feel like I finally found friendly faces after moving during COVID! On the way out, I did join the rewards program (which has a ton of perks!) and used it to get my husband some cookies to take to work! Seems ridiculous. It's not that it's overpriced, she was robbed! They double charged this sweet lady and I'm appalled by this. Went in last night between 8:40-8:45pm the store closes at 9pm. Go to order and they're out of a few things which is no biggie. The employee takes the 2 orders, we go to pay BEFORE the food is dressed and that's when she asks "will this be to go or dine in?" I answer for "dine in". She then says "well our dining room is closed."(no ropes, no signage, etc.) to which I responded by saying "it's 8:49 and it looks very open to me". She then just walks off to go get the manager at the time. She comes out and has a whole discussion with the other 2 employees. One of which is just leaned over the counter on her phone and says "I guess I can just clean again". Then the "manager" just walks off. No one says a word back, didn't offer my receipt, didn't say my food was good to take, nothing. So I then asked for the franchise owners contact info. To which she says "she's the manager" and I asks if she's the owner and she says "no" but she's not going to give me her contact info. So she proceeds to call Sonja, which I said I can just contact in the am. The "manager" then tells me I can just Google the number or She can Google it online for me. I take my food, we sit down to eat it and as we're sitting there the same "manager" walks up with her employees to the side of our table and says "excuse me sir, but it's 9:03 and we're closed." So I told her that we were going to sit there and finish our food that we paid for. We then offer the tray of trash to them since they had to "clean" and she says "no we can't take that from you and you need to put it in the trash yourself". Then they all just walk off and to the back. Once we go to leave, we dump our trash, wiped our own table and on the way out one employee goes to grab the tray and the "manager" ask her "did she hand that tray to you or put it down?" Side note: when we walked out all of the coke faucets were still on and not taken off for cleaning, that is also a sanitary issue. Idk what type of employees or operation was running last night but it was ridiculous. Your team is supposed to be just that, a team. Your manager is supposed to lead. If you just wanted to get out of there early, then say that. But you're open until 9pm. Not 8:45pm. When people pay for their food, they should be able to eat their food and not be bothered to get out at 9:03pm. Customer service is about taking care of customers. Them before you. This place is a mess. They have very young workers who have no clue what they are doing and I bet it's not their fault it's probably the lack of proper training. I had a very uncomfortable experience with the way everything was being done during my visit. I ordered a simple turkey and Swiss with avocado. They hide their hide the toppings and I didn't understand why but I did once I got home because they are not fresh. The lettuce was glassy and soggy same for the tomatoes. Not crisp and fresh. I couldn't see how much any of the toppings I ordered was being put on my sandwich. And someone said it's a "surprise". Well I am very particular about what I eat and I like to decide the amount. The very young guy who seemed really clueless even forgot to put my cheese on and the avocado. He had to be reminding by my friend who happens to be 6'2 so he could see over the barrier. While my sandwich was being made there was a girl with a broom sweeping right behind the guy. All I could think of is all that debris flying on to my sandwich. Like she couldn't wait until my sandwich was done? It wasn't busy there was no one behind me. And then I asked if I could just have oil and vinegar for dressing and they said they don't have vinegar. What?? You're a sandwich shop and you don't have vinegar??? Then I said well I guess I will just get a little bit of their vinaigrette and they didn't have it where all the dressing are. Someone else had to had him those little to-go packets from a drawer and helped him open it :/. There were some hygiene issues. When I got home and opened up the sandwich it was very disappointing like a said about the soggy and none fresh veggies (by the way it took us 5 minutes to get home). Not enough time to explain that mess. Overall I would avoid this place. Maybe it used to be good when they first started but it's a definite never for me. First time at Pot Belly in Midland. I'd eaten there in the Chicago area and thought id try our local version. Service was SO frustrating, no one can hear anyone on either side. The employees talk so softly..it was hard to communicate. The sandwiches were good. I had tuna and hubby had turkey. The tuna was very fresh and all the vegetables were fresh. I, personally, don't like the Zappo brand chips they carry. Now the tomato soup was my very least favorite. It was very thick like chili. The flavor was more like an Italian tomato paste. Won't be having that again. Glad pot belly is here it and I think the location will help them but they need to step up their game. Trash was stacked up on the trash can and there were no paper towels in the ladies room. Bottom line it was ok..but there are much better sandwich shops in Midland. Not sure about the food but wanted to comment on the delivery. Website says free delivery on orders of $10 or more. Went through the entire ordering process, registering, etc. Finally get to checkout and it says, "Did not meet order delivery minimum of $25, go back and add more food". What?
