Drs look very good on their bios and seems like they would be a Great fit for providing care. However trying to get Any one to help you get to see one of them is a joke! No response to emails, website messages, or anything. After posting my review on a few sites did get a voicemail from a Veronica with a promise to call in a few hours to make personal apology, no call or even an offer to make an appointment. They lost a patient who has Excellent insurance and Lives in the building.How have they been in business So Long with the his type of service ? Ahhh, where do I start. The day I called to schedule an appointment, the office was nice to my son and myself. After his session, the therapist and the office seemed to have completely stopped communication with me. I emailed the doctor, and she notified me that the teacher did not complete one of the forms. I was able to get the teacher to complete the last form within a week. I did not get any feedback from my son's results/ test. I am a single parent, and I had to keep reaching out to the office for any reaction from them. Dr. Jay is really nice and quick to respond to her emails, but I figured since I am the father of the patient, there would be more communication. We went to this facility in January, and the paperwork was completed in March after I was notified that all of the paperwork was not completed by the teacher when I emailed the facility. Fast forward to June when I was able to get a virtual call. I received a call from the office at 9am from Mandy to let me know that I would have to pay off the entire co-pay, which is above $1000. I did not hear the location she called from. I had 2 appointments today, one for my son and one for myself. Furthermore, I asked if I could make a partial payment and was told no. I told he I would call back to notify them of my decision and call them later. I called back to cancel the appointment and was told that I would have a cancelation fee added to the current balance. I asked Manady a few questions, which she answered, and then proceeded to talk over me when I tried to talk. She ended up hanging up on me because I raised my voice to try and talk over her. Iris is the 1 (Iris) of the 2 (Dr. Jay) bright spots in this location. Iris called me back within 10 minutes. She apologized for Mandy's actions, and for the long process, we were able to have a 2-way conversation, I was able to set a payment plan up, and Iris helped calm me down. To preface this review, I was referred to this practice by a licensed therapist with whom I had a brief consultation with for mental health purposes. It was mentioned by my therapist that their psychologists would be able to provide more insight into and coping mechanisms for my mental health concerns and specifically provide a thorough Neuropsychological evaluation. I proceeded to have a discussion with the front desk about their approaches to conducting Neuropsychological evaluations where it was mentioned that they assess both behavioral and cognitive functioning. I then scheduled an intake appointment with supposedly the only psychologist licensed to conduct Neuropsych evals at their practice for $210 who proceeded to inform me that their practice DOES NOT do comprehensive Neuropsych effectively contradicting the feedback from the front desk. To make matters worse, she recommended me to another practice that also DOES NOT conduct comprehensive evaluations, namely, that only tests for cognitive conditions and not behavioral. After the appointment, I followed up with the front desk and informed them of the references/referrals being inadequate and they haven't replied either by email or left a voicemail since. They also failed to submit an insurance claim on my behalf which the front office assured me of. In conclusion, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for mental health support as this practice is unprofessional, untimely, and contradictory with their feedback and policies. read more

Dr. Gillum conducted an Autism assessment for me. She was extremely thorough, methodical and deliberate. She did not rely solely on a few tests, but took the time over multiple online and in person sessions to assess me using numerous evaluation methods. She was compassionate and personal in her interactions and truly cares about her patients and ensuring an accurate diagnosis. I've been with this practice for about a year and a half now and have been very happy. It took some time to get in (which is common with many places) but very happy once I was able to. The front desk staff were very nice and worked to charge my insurance - the process was quite seamless. There is a charge if you cancel with short notice, but I have not yet had a problem in my time there. Part of this means that you have to take therapy seriously and not skip out, but my therapist usually is able to work with me if I need to reschedule with enough advance notice. I've also been very happy that they setup Doxy.me (telementalhealth) so quickly once the pandemic hit. The transition to virtual appointments was seamless and appreciated given how necessary continuing mental health care is during these times. I've been with Dr. Gillum the entire time and both my daughter and I see her weekly. We have made tremendous progress since we started. Since many of my issues relate to my life as a mom it's been instrumental in my progress to have a qualified child therapist to help work through behavioral concerns and learn to be a better parent. I don't say this easily but she's truly been a lifesaver. She's supportive, kind, understanding, not judgmental, and very easy to talk to. Her therapy is based in CBT which means that she helps you find solutions and is not just there for you to vent to. This requires real work on your part but delivers tangible results. She's given me the tools to continue to improve myself and my family and I will be ever grateful. I'm not sure how the other therapists are obviously but I've been very happy with this practice and my experience and have wholeheartedly recommended it to anyone in need of mental health support. read more

We have been seeing Dr Debra Japzon Gillum, Ph.D a clinical psychologist for our son for a year and a half. She is the most compassionate and caring individual. She has provided strategies for us to use at home and have helped our son grow and develop in many ways. We appreciate the connection that she makes with our son. Even in the most difficult of times during Covid she has provided resources and strategies to help our child. We feel very fortunate to have found The Potomac Center and Dr Gillum. read more

My family has been seeing a therapist at the center for 3 years. It's been a great experience that has helped my family immensely. Sure there have been occasional hiccups, but that's going to be anywhere. Our therapist Dr. Ogilvie has been wonderful. I try to schedule appointments in blocks--a month or so at a time in order to make everything easy. They have been great about handling all of our insurance issues as well. read more

Very poor quality treatment of new clients. They make you sign a form saying you'll pay $100 if you don't give 24 hours advance notice of cancelling, but then cancel with you only once you've driven out to their office. Beware. This place is out to get your money, not to make you healthier. As stated in an earlier review, they treat new patents very poorly. I was the office manager of a dental clinic for 3 years, and I am flabbergasted by the way these people handle patient accounts - it's as if they don't care if you stay or leave. The entire practice is extremely disorganized and very difficult to contact. The office manager and the doctors play "pass the buck" when you have a dispute. The receptionist, Iris, will tell you just about anything to get you off the phone. Later, you will come to find that she fed you a bunch of malarkey and now you have a problem. Her disrespectful rhetoric, contradictions and lack of professionalism have been a huge headache and caused many problems. Potomac Center presents horrible communication between patient, doctor and front desk. I was charged $100 (that's right, 100) for missing an appointment which I never made. When I attempted to resolve the mistake with the office manager, Iris refused to connect me with that person. Several weeks, emails and phone calls later they are still demanding the fee. When I asked Iris if she could prove that I made the alleged appointment, she told me their policy is not to confirm patients, and I could speak to the office manager if I wished to "escalate the matter." (Remember, I was originally refused this request.) The manager did not answer, and I am still waiting on a response. When I terminated my treatment due to dissatisfaction, they charged me another $100! My therapist, Dr. Ogilvie, has left me high and dry. I have heard no response from him or the office manager, who remains nameless. Mind you, I only got through three appointments before they began to screw up my patient account and hold me responsible. So, do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place! read more
