This was the coolest park i have ever seen for toddlers. There is no reason to pay huge prices for activity centers when this park has it all and it's all safe for Littles. I love that there's this much fun outside during respiratory season when we are avoiding being indoors with a bunch of kiddos. The ground is super soft and plus for not being sand or wood/plastic chips. My son could have hung out here all day. The only thing that could have improved the experience would have been if there were shaded areas to sit. We will be back for sure!

Potomac Yard Park is a 2013 narrow park near the Potomac Yard development. Because of the construction, parking can be a little hard to find so go early. The park itself has a splash area with benches and two large long playgrounds for kids of all ages. Both play areas are fenced in giving more peace to parents and caregivers. There's a trail near the playground popular with walkers, joggers and runners. Along the paved trail are stairs to a hidden dirt trail through the woods.

I think this park is cute, but unfortunately is more aesthetically pleasing to the eye than play-worthy for the kids. It is a very modern space with not as much going on as far as 'traditional' playground equipment goes. The location is ideal for the Potomac Yard residents. Kids love watching the train pass by in the distance while the parents/nannies/au pairs can hang on the steel post hammocks. I can't really describe the hammocks other than they are nice to lay on, and that I was happy they weren't being utilized. You could fall asleep on one of those things if it was cool enough outside. Water park they have is mediocre at best. There are way better water park options in the area at small playgrounds than this, but if it was this or nothing; at least this offers something. No shade with all pavement, no visible bathrooms and a non-working water fountain. Bring plenty of H2O for the kiddies and yourself. Plan accordingly before visiting.

Great park for toddlers! Has water fountains and a huge playground with a maze. Easy street parking. Only con is no public restrooms only portables.

Great get away with the kiddos! So much to do and the water is the best part. Very calm neighborhood, would recommend to all parents

I do not have a lot of free time but when I do, I like to spend some of that time in the park and enjoy the weather. I live very nearby and I enjoy walking and taking my kids to the playground. I love seating somewhere in the park and enjoy drinking my coffee with my kids and wife. I like the idea that after 10 lights will turn off where people should empty the park as it is night. The water fountain near the playground does not work. There are no restrooms nearby.

Nice, big, toddler playground near the Target in Potomac Yards. We went there looking for the splash park, but the fountains were off. Hopefully it'll open up next week after memorial day. I like that everything was clean. No mud anywhere because this was a very artificial looking park, but it would have been nice to have had a big old tree for shade. My little one had a blast playing on the appropriately sized equipment. I'm sure we'll come back again to check out the fountains.

This is a great park for kids! There are two separate gated areas, one for younger kids, and one for older kids. In the middle are fountains that are active in the summer. We like to bring the kids here on the weekend. There is a lot of street parking, even though the park is very busy.

It's one of those hidden gems!…read more Great place to walk / hang out Great place to walk around, play basketball, chalk art the sidewalks, have a picnic. Located below the I-495 -Woodrow Wilson Bridge, the park is right at the southernmost point and great water views of Virginia and sites within Maryland like the National Harbor across the Potomac River. There is a walking trail along the river with informational signs and displays that describe the really cool, informative information markers of sights and the past history of the area along the trail. A 10-minute walk on the trail will bring you to other parks (Ford's Landing, Shipyard, and Roberdeaux) and eventually to Old Town Alexandria with its many shops and restaurants --situated along the water. Another added plus is that the park offers a place for fishing, playgrounds, basketball courts, and multi-use fields. I came here with some friends for the first time and had a relaxing time just being outdoors and enjoying this great space in nature. We grabbed a picnic table....while having lunch and taking in the weather. Between the space and multi-use areas, it is the perfect spot to for walks along the river, running, exercising or simply....raking time to put things on pause and enjoy the outdoors. ELITE TIP: It is a good place to park if you are planning to visit Old Town Alexandria and want an easy place to park.....without having to deal with the limited street parking, risk of parking meter tickets or the high price garage parking. and enjoy a walk along the river.

Beautiful park in Alexandria with water views. We walked about a mile, just past the restaurants…read moreBarca and some on the water. Then circled back for about a little over 2 miles. It's best to go early. Plenty of benches and covered areas for comfort while in the sun. Great place to walk with your dog or go on a date. There were also other places you could park further down the walk if you don't want to start at the end near the bridge. Lovely walk that I would enjoy doing again.
