Obviously our amazing public transport network meant I only had over an hour to wait for the next bus. So that is how I ended up in The Bear Grills Cafe. I was not expecting much, given the surroundings. But on entry, it was a pleasant surprise. It feels cosy, yet spacious. Nice and bright and well presented. We grab a seat and I find the breakfast for me. Going for the large option. Essentially 1 or 2 of everything you want in a breakfast. Plus beans. We are soon ordering and the beans are easily ditched for an extra hash brown. Whilst waiting we notice that they do an eating challenge called The Hibernator. Which is over 4 times what I've ordered. If I'd had the time I might have given it a go. Could well be back to do this Food arrives quickly. It's all looks freshly cooked which is nice. It's nicely presented and I even enjoy the tomatoes, which I'm usually a bit reluctant on. My only minor quibble would be that as a ketchup addict, I would have liked to have seen a bottle of this, rather than the packet provided. All in all. A good spot to stop if you find yourself stuck in Congleton. And worth making the visit to try the Hibernator.

Went for the "squealing pig" bacon-wrapped grilled cheese sandwich; simple white bread and cheddar sandwich wrapped in 4 rashers of quality bacon, served with a small side salad (which could be a little more inspired, but who comes here for the salad?) for just under £5, and was fully satisfied. I regularly have a full breakfast although there is the option of any combination on any type of bread, along with the obligatory oatcakes and tea cakes. For me... at lunch, the hands down winner of the sandwich filler competition has to be the chinese chicken. It is THE tastiest I have ever had, and others agree- Every time I go i am required to purchase one for the wife. Although this place has another shop on Hurdsfield Industrial estate, delivers in the local area and has a van on the move around local workplaces- the thing that most sets them apart is the service. They are a friendly bunch who are always up for a natter, but know if you're buying a butty you are usually in a rush. Love the place... every time i am in the area it is a must eat little cafe.

There are a few tables and chairs in the cafe to eat in, and they do a take away and delivery service (delivery must be over a certain amount of food). Opening hours are just the morning, I think they shut at 1ish. Staff are really friendly, and don't mind you being fussy about the way you have your sandwich made. Highly recommended.

You can have a flavour of what they have to offer through the window display, as favourites are written on the window. When I walked into the deli I found a massive selection of products: cheeses, meats, pies, pastries, antipasti. I was really impressed by the variety of food on offer, both local from further afield. I ordered an Italian chicken bap, on seeded bread and it was really top notch. The chicken was succulent and full of flavour, and it came with a decent amount of salad. I also had a couple of stuffed vine leaves, which you can buy for 30p per vine leaf which was a nice treat. The cakes and the multitude of pies also looked extremely appetising. The only criticism I have was that the air conditioning was leaking just where people were queuing, which was not ideal. I can't wait to head back, a nice little find in Macclesfield.
