You will notice Jason's Trading Post from the outside because of the amount of stuff they have out on the patio in front of the doors - from gardening pots, to sink trays, to cooking ware - they really do offer a load of random bits and pieces. The best thing about the place is that they are really cheap, so if you are a bargain hunter then you are in for a treat - you will probably find that everything is much cheaper than it would be from any chain store - and the staff are so friendly and happy too which just makes a bonus! It's a great place if you are after something for the home but you're not sure where they would sell it, as you will probably find this shop has what you are looking for. It's also good to just have a look around to get some inspiration - it's hard to leave the place without a few items in your hands!

They stock a whole host, floor-to-ceiling - gifts, cards, stationary, candles, ornaments, mirrors, luggage, beauty and cleaning products, household goods, crockery, catering supplies, DIY products, pet supplies, gardening goods and furniture, curtains, towels, cushions, blinds, bedding, toys and electrical goods. All at warehouse discount, bargain basement, super-duper low prices. The Xmas decoration section itself is breath-taking - you could decorate an entire village with what they have here - tinsel, baubels, trees and lights a go-go. Rajanis also has a café on site, a cashpoint, delivery service and pensioner discounts on a Thursday. Phew... it's like an entire new city of stuff.

I'm a big fan of the Co-op food stores, and as they go this one is OK. It has the post office in…read morethe back room (see separate entry for that). They have a good bakery section - especially the croissants and rolls - which is delivered every morning. They have a fair range of fruit and veg (not packaged either, good eco points). They have the basics for the rest of the groceries - my only sticking point is that their baking section is a bit titchy and since the Co-op in Staple Hill has changed to a Tesco (but Co-op is technically next door with a Somerfield, keep up at the back) my baking needs are now having to be fulfilled all the way at the bottom of Fishponds in none other than Morrisons! Anyway, open really late even on a Sunday, got a good range of items, sometimes the tills are a little slow but I think it is just because they are understaffed. Oh I should mention the staff - at the weekend almost entirely run by emos. Fantastic. And they are ever so polite.

The staff in the shop are so friendly and helpful it's always a pleasure being served there, always inviting a chat about how your day's been and helping if you can't find something. I've seen them help older customers a number of times carry their groceries out of the shop as well if they've got a heavy load. Good service goes a long way in my opinion and I can't stand rudeness in supermarkets. It's very unlikely you'd find rudeness here, quite the opposite. Co-op Fishponds I solute you!

St Peter's Hospice has about 50 shops in the Bristol area, all raising money for the charity which…read moresupports and looks after adults with a terminal illness. One of the charity's newest shops and you can tell - beautifully laid out and with everything well displayed. I particularly liked the mannequin with the necklaces on. They have a nice selection of nick nacks and the clothes are of a high quality - they have some of the higher end of the high street labels in here.

It's a tidy…read morelittle charity shop that really makes an effort to keep good stores thus making some profit for the cause. One of the main points here is how easy they make it to shop. For example little signs on the roof mark out what is in what aisle. The men's range, once you locate it, is a decent assortment of really quite good clothing. I've bought many good shirts from these guys as well as a few nice hats. The rest of the stock is similar; easy to find and good quality. Little more you could ask for really.

I went there looking for some light natural trousers for an up and coming holiday and came away with a 100% cotton pair from M&S that looked brand new and a linen pair and only spent £3.98!!! So all you other charity shops out there with your fancy layouts and store windows, take a leaf out if Barnardos book. It may be like a jumble sale in there but it's cheap and that's what I want from a Charity shop!

They have a small selection of pre-owned consoles and controllers. Be prepared to be looking for quite a while if there is something specific you are after as everything is a little ramshakle The selection of DVD's is ok, with some good boxset and even some VHS's! I know... how very retro!

Due to the high expense of many high street retailers, places like Game Scene have set up to provide more affordable, pre-loved numbers - and fair play to them. This shop is absolutely stacked from wall to wall with games for all sorts of consoles and devices. It's not really my forte so I can't specify which ones but judging by the huge array of colour and shape I'm guessing they're pretty well stocked. There's also a really good choice of DVDs to choose from, with some blockbusters for a mere quid or two. Game on.

The toilet paper is never ever in the dispenser in any toilets even the baby change instead always loose on top of the sanitary bins or dispenser. It's in a handy…read morelocation, right next to the main First and U-link buses in Fishponds, meaning you only have to walk a few metres with your heavy bags. There is also a substantial car park which I have never seen full to the brim. Inside, its bright and spacious meaning there is plenty of room to maneuver your wonky trolley without plowing down the locals. Prices are also good, and easily rival the adjoining Lidl's and I personally think it's much more of a stress-free zone than Lidl's. Additionally, there is a cafe for a sit down if you have had a long morning, which is always in use (mainly by the older generation may I add!) and the coffee isn't too bad.

So much so in fact I often forget I'm in a charity shop here. As you wonder around the well stacked aisles looking for bargains and discounts take some time (if you're a gent that is) to check out the bin of cheap flat caps and trilbies - an absolute gem if you're into your hats. The selection of men's clothing doesn't stop here with a good range of tee-shirts, trousers and jumpers. Obviously there are hoards of clothing for women, books and accessories too. Not so obvious however is the enormous range of assorted teddy bears. Bizarre yes, but it's always good to know where to get a pre-loved bear should you need one!
