Fabulous architectural conversion of a rundown townhouse into a shopping center that now has a lovely mix of local designers and artistic jewelry shops. Plus there are a couple of places to eat too! I discovered it just wandering around the Temple Bar area of Dublin and had a throughly good time checking out all the cute and quirky stores. One thing that was quite serendipitous- I was in town the weekend of St Patrick's Day parade and they had tons of events going on. There was a lovely local mixed gender choir singing Irish songs that afternoon I was there, and there finale piece was this brilliant song called "Brewing up a storm" by the Stunning. I had never heard of the song or the band, but it was just wonderful music! Glad discovered it thanks to this shopping center. Come and check out if you are in town and have a few hours to spare. Originally an 18th-century Georgian mansion for the Earl of Powerscourt. It became a run down dump. In the 1980's It was restored to it's beautiful elegance. The glass ceiling lets in quite a bit of light. The cafés are a lovely place to eat and relax. The antique and jewelry stores are quite exquisite. No shortage of lovely shopping. Please stop in and join me in leave a few euros behind.
Cute shopping centre tucked away... Almost like a hidden gem! I absolutely love this place, it's got air and grace about it, packed with boutiques (mostly high end) as well as a few bridal shops, eateries and well let's give a mention to the florist that takes pride and place just inside the South William Street entrance. This place will always turn on a great seasonal display, as we can see this Christmas :-) My fave shop is up on 3rd floor, the Loft!
Being a Corkman, I do long for when I would venture up to the city for some spirited xmas shopping (on xmas eve, of course!! Why make things easy for yourself!), grabbing a coffee in the English Market and taking in the atmosphere outside the Opera House and on the Grand Parade. Happy days. The capital does have its charms though. Yeah the live music on Henry st. has it's charms, probably!! And yeah, a walk under the lights of Grafton St. on a December weekend is kind of all right, I guess....Actually, one thing that really does give the English Market a run for its money for me would be the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre. Probably seems childish, but entering an old fashioned mall with a high roof and a big shiny Christmas tree and loads of glass windows and fancy antique shops where everything just sparkles and glitters...it does evoke memories of when I was in short trousers being dragged to the Blarney Woolen Mills to see Santa, and running around the mall playing hide and seek with random kids. If i were a kid growing up here, I'd be begging them to take me to Powerscourt just to take in the sparkliness and run up and down the stairs like an idiot! From an adults perspective, It's one of the places where it's decor for xmas doesn't feel overly corporate, but feels genuinely charming. Of course, their aim is to get you to buy stuff, but in the case of Powerscourt, I'm happy to part with my money. #DublinShopsLocal
Gorgeous little gem, tucked away in the city center! Beautiful from the outside and you'd never guess it'd be even more gorgeous on the inside. An enclosed little courtyard with beautiful brick facades that couldn't be more charming if it tried! A lovely little paradise to escape to, great to just window shop, enjoy a drink; love the indoor/outdoor feel, it's equally cozy on a sunny or rainy day. I love to stop by just to browse, but in terms of shopping I really only come here for the yarn at This Is Knit. My second fav. shop is Article, full of gorgeous contemporary designer home decor and cute gifts with a Scandinavian feel. Generally the shops are definitely on the higher end in price range, but you can find pretty much anything here, jewelry, clothes, flowers. It's always busy but that doesn't ruin the atmosphere. There's really nothing to compare it to, it's such a unique space that I just never get tired of. This is a place I'd take anyone visiting Dublin, it has such a great atmosphere that you just can't beat. I can't wait to see this place during the holidays!
The Powerscourt Townhouse Centre really is a beautiful building, and a landmark in Dublin's City Centre. If you hadn't heard about it or didn't know where to look, it's easily missed - even though it's smack bang in the middle of the city centre. It's basically on the street parallel to Grafton ST - Clarendon St - and the easiest way to find it is to cut across the little lane that links the two street, which is located about halfway up Grafton St. With over 40 places to eat and shop, it's hard to get bored. They've everything from kids books, to high fashion, vegetarian restaurants to menswear, antique jewellery and much more. Well worth a visit.
A beautiful modern shopping centre is hiding in this stunning eighteenth century town house with magnificent walls and ceilings and fittings! The new shopping centre and the old town house blend beautifully together to create a really delightful shopping experience. Have lunch in one of the four restaurants and listen to the pianist play classical music. Browse the upstairs gallery and purchase some wonderful Irish art or just shop till you drop in one of over forty shops. The brow bar is a fab brow specialist beauty salon here.
There's something about this place. Grandeur. Opulence. Vibrance. Irishness. I can't think of anywhere in Dublin in which these four descriptives are married so well together (Yes, 'Irishness' is a word!!) A distinctive example of Dublin's Georgian architecture, the once privately owned 18th century mansion has been converted in the most exquisite way into a paradise for browsers, people watchers, eaters, drinkers, and yep, shoppers. With 42 ways to spend your time here, from boutiques to cafes, there can be no doubt that the architecture of Powerscourt is the essence of the atmosphere that hits you when you step inside this beautiful building. The second thing to hit you is likely to be the aroma of coffee coming from Pygmalion Cafe on the ground floor. What a delicious place to kick back and people watch. Under the same roof, there is also Lost Society Lounge (lots of cracking Irish DJs and musicians in here most nights of the week), Pygmalion Bar (famed for it's Sunday sessions), The Pepper Pot (delicious organic fare), and Terrazzo Italia (if you're looking for something more posh to satisfy those delectable taste buds) Shopping-wise, this place is generally more on the mid to high price range, depending on what you're after. With anything from Bonsai trees, to Bridal dresses, antiques and jewellery to handmade beauty supplies and salons, heck there's even a doll's hospital and museum to keep the young 'uns shtum! The Centre also run guided tours for those who really want to soak up the history of the 350-odd year old mansion. The 'Grand Tour' takes place on Thursdays and Saturdays at 2pm and 4pm for €8 a pop. All in all, Powerscourt Shopping Centre is a place to be proud of, to bring visitors to, to wander around on your tod breathing in the magnificence. And of course, somewhere to spend your hard-earned dough supporting Irish owned businesses.
I love this place! It's so beautiful that I can't even explain it! Well there is always the way that I use to describe it to my friends, 'Dublin's version of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II'! :) It's so magnificent and quirky! Plenty of cafés, restaurants, shops and even a garden at the entrance with such a good aroma that just makes me want to buy all their flowers! When it comes to shopping it can be a bit pricey but the shop 'Article' is a must! Everything in there is a must-have. I love the buzz in summer with people sitting in the outside stairs while watching the world go by! But in winter is just as nice as it has a really nice Christmas decoration! This beautiful building is fabulous and a perfect place to go for coffee, a meal or even to listen the pianist playing piano!
I must admit that I've never actually bought anything in the Powerscourt Centre, nor have I actually entered any of the shops, but I have walked through there on a number of occasions as a shortcut to South William St, so, on the basis of this very dodgy premise, I shall now bequeath you with this review, full of generalisation and stereotype. The Powerscourt Townhouse Centre is, as the name suggests, located in a very impresive Georgian townhouse. It was owned by the Powerscourt family, and the buildings current usage is very apt: a house that used to belong to an Anglophile Anglo-Irish family is now operated as a shopping centre catering to southside Dublin's West Brit rugby masses. The shopping centre owners have left the architecture as it was insofar as is possible, which, as I'll be the first to admit, is very admirable. It is not, unfortunately, conducive to an amenable shopping experience,as it can be quite confusing to find the exit (especially when you're just taking a short-cut through the building and have no intention of actually entering the shops and purchasing anything). There's definitely a jewellery shop, a coffee shop in the central concourse, and some sort of women's clothes shop upstairs, and Ba Mizu is attached to the outside. The patrons are exclusively composed of yummy mummies buying overpriced tat to make the neighbours in Glenageary jealous, and schoolboys from Blackrock with gigantic collars trying to get inside the Juicy Coutures of the schoolgirls in the ugg boots. That's it, essentially. Do you need to know anything more about this place. Avoid it like the plague, won't you. Nice to look at from across the road, but no closer.
It's probably my favourite shopping center in Dublin. Small and gorgeous on the inside with lots of antique shops, some galleries and an assortment of other shops. The cafe in the center is a nice location to sit and admire the Georgian architecture and the gorgeous building. Been here many times to look at the antiques watches and jewelry and also to get an antique watch repaired. Been to the cafe a few times for a coffee and just chilling out on a weekend afternoon.
Absolutely love this "shopping centre" even if I can't afford anything in here. It is quaint and magically, the shops are not your average high street style which is what makes this a must. The shops include higher end fashion, Dublin's oldest Dolls Hospital and Museum, in a fantastic location, that would make any girl (whatever their age) want a Dolls house. There is a small theatre (for Irish Dancing with a small museum) but this has some other shows such as a puppet show every christmas....a definite must see. You will need a good sense of direction when in here....as you leave one shop you must pass through another....can be confusing but don't let that put you off.

I almost walked into Powerscourt Townhouse Centre expecting a typical shopping center, but it turned out to be one of Dublin's most beautiful hidden architectural gems. Originally built as an 18th-century Georgian townhouse, the building has been thoughtfully transformed into a shopping and dining destination while preserving so much of its historic charm. The moment you step inside, you're greeted by elegant staircases, intricate plaster ceilings, sparkling chandeliers, and a stunning glass-covered atrium that fills the space with natural light. I spent as much time admiring the architecture as I did browsing the boutique shops. The indoor greenery, unique independent retailers, and inviting cafés create a relaxed atmosphere that's a welcome break from the busy streets of Dublin. It's the kind of place where you can slow down, enjoy a coffee, and appreciate the craftsmanship surrounding you. For photographers, this is an outstanding location. Every floor offers new angles of the atrium, staircases, and historic architectural details, making it easy to fill your camera with beautiful images. Whether you're interested in history, architecture, shopping, or simply discovering places that many visitors overlook, Powerscourt Townhouse Centre is absolutely worth a stop. It's a wonderful example of how Dublin has preserved its heritage while giving historic buildings a vibrant new purpose. read more
This is a pretty special shopping center made from a very fancy historical townhouse aka mansion. Inside you'll find some of the best retailers in the city as well as beautiful restaurants and bars. There are some amazing estate jewelry shops, a fantastic florist, Irelands oldest gentleman's clothing store and much more. Free to enter this place is definitely worth the visit even if you're just window shopping or people watching. read more
The Powercourts Townhouse Centre intrigued me. Initially it appears to be a flower shop. It unfolds into much more as you explore further. The Irish food tour was the meeting point and it was advertised here and I had a positive experience there. The nature theme definitely adds value. read more

Melanie is right to when she claims that the Powerscourt Centre is beautiful. The amount of light that reflects off of the many windows gives the whole place a sparkling polished glow. The shops in here are quite unusual as well. There are a number of artistic boutiques such as the Norman Giles photography gallery and all the jewellery shops (one with the wonderful name Gollum's Precious). I came across a knitting place that sold all kinds of coloured yarns and needles. And if you're looking for antiques, this is a good place to start. The Powerscourt feels like a museum: sometimes I'm scared that I'll break something while walking through the hallways. Prices are expensive but you can get rare one-of-a-kind items. read more

The Powerscourt Town House is a bright, airy shopping centre built in a Georgian town mansion. The architecture, natural stone interior and abundance of natural light, set it apart from many modern, characterless shopping centres. It's upmarket with a focus on art and fashion. It features bridal shops, antique shops, beauty salons, a number of jewellers and art and photography galleries. It also has a number of women's fashion boutiques but this is not the high-street so don't expect high-street prices (perhaps with the exception of high-end high-street, French Connection!). It is the place to go if you are looking for a specialist gift, an outfit for a really special occasion (like your wedding!), or if you are just that wealthy. Even if you're not interested in any of Powerscourt's wares, go and have a wander around the building, have a coffee, watch the yummy mummies stroll on by and ask yourself what Lord Powerscourt, the building's first owner in the 16th century, would make of all these shoppers in his gaff! read more

I don't think I can afford much of anything that's sold at the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre, other than the cupcakes. But, I don't care. I love this shopping centre and I love to be in it, browsing, longing and chomping on my cupcake. I love all of the boutiques here, which focus on independent designers. High-end to the max, and extremely beautiful, if you buy anything here you'll love it forever. It will probably even outlast you and give your granddaughters something to gloat to their friends about: My granny was awesome. The only thing I don't like is that the security guards stare at you like you're about to commit heinous crimes. read more
If you are looking for an amazing place to go shoppers in Dublin, Ireland. I highly recommend visiting the Powerscourt Townhouse Center located near Grafton Street. There are two entrances to this amazing shopping center. The entrances are located on Clarendon Street and Williams Street. This shopping center opened officially in 1981. It was previously a house owned by Visecount Powerscourt. The architecture is very unique and definitely everyone should experience when visiting Dublin, Ireland. This is a great place to go shopping, get a cup of coffee or experience a few of the Restaurants. I definitely recommend visiting here to check out the amazing artists and craft stores which are primarily on the the second floor. The shopping center has a wide selection of stores to meet everyone's needs. Powerscourt Townhouse Center is very clean and has very clean restrooms. They also have an elevator in the center also. I State this due not one being here many years ago. Powerscourt Townhouse Center definitely rates ten stars and more! I definitely will be returning to this amazing shopping center on my next visit to Ireland. read more

Super fashionable spot! Powerscourt Townhouse is one of the most wonderful treasures in Dublin city. An old Georgian townhouse converted into a shopping centre, it is home for some yummy restaurants & cafés, and some great one of a kind ladies boutiques. The top floor has a theatre, art galleries and some amazing boutiques... Some selling all Irish designed and made clothes, hats, bags etc. it's a must if you're around Dublin! read more
