I really enjoyed working with Prabha, and felt very seen and validated in her caring-yet-candid presence. She and I were able to swiftly work through some deep-seated issues and mindsets around fear and scarcity using EMDR. I had not experienced EMDR before, but found it to be a very efficient modality which allowed access into (and through) outdated storied and old traumas. Prabha is a very refreshing therapist in that she's not afraid to provide her frank appraisal of your situation, based on what she's hearing from you. She provides plenty of space for you and your process, but also isn't afraid to reflect back a clear point of view. I have no patience for clinicians who are overly passive, and I've struggled with this in the past- I don't need to hear banal reflections like "that sounds hard;" I'm already aware! Prabha is NOT like this, and will tell it like it is, which I really appreciate. I definitely recommend working with her if you're curious about EMDR, and if you're looking for a true thought partner to help you work through your situation. read more

I do not recommend Prabha's practice if a callous and unkind demeanor would reduce the quality of your experience. I had a terrible, terrible onboarding experience. I had scheduled an EMDR session, for which in hindsight I see now that I should have observed her cold/short communication as a harbinger of things to come. Fast forward to the day of my appointment, and a very rare emergency caused me to be meaningfully late to our first appointment. Not a great introduction on my part, I know... so I did everything I could to show respect and apologize to Prabha. I emailed first 15 minutes before my start time with notice of my long delay and sincerest apologies, and also provided my forms electronically in advance to allow her time to review. I didn't get a reply, but instead a stern email about my absence. I kindly replied to this new message apologizing again and asking her if she's read my two messages sent before (advance notice of delay and forms). No reply from her on this either. I send one more message asking if we can at least finish the meeting slot via Zoom, which I understood her practice to also offer, so we could at least finish my on boarding this way. In the meantime, I also pre-paid at this point for my meeting, despite not yet being asked to pay. I'm going out of my way because I felt really bad about having been late. In this message, I also asked alternatively if the other time she had originally offered for the same day might still be available for us to hold as a backup. After all the above, I get a series of diatribes and lectures from her, scolding me, with lots of repetition, for my tenacity in being late, for asking for a different time, for asking for a late Zoom change, and dictating I need to pay twice for such a change even if the time were available. I was really, really turned off by this, but decided after a few days that given my invested time in this already, I'd give one more go at this after she asked if I want to schedule again. Keep in mind I fully paid for my first session already, despite being completely ignored and receiving no service, and I didn't so much as mention or complain about this. I sent her a reply after her further unkind emails that came later, and do my best to ignore how I had been treated to-date, and still tried to offer a "I truly respect your time despite what happened" message at the end, to which she latched onto again, indicating I clearly didn't respect her time, otherwise I wouldn't have asked to change the venue, I wouldn't have asked if another time was available, and so on. Bottom line: I was wrong and made a mistake. But the treatment I received was despicable and showed the true colors I believe one can expect here. She never so much as acknowledged her own neglect and oversight in missing my sent emails in advance, and in fact had the tenacity to proclaim they went to her spam folder, which was a rather disappointing lie, given they were replies to the same email thread for which she received every single message I sent, and even replied to all within 1-2 hours of receipt. For someone providing various forms of therapy, this was far from therapeutic. I suspect from the other reviews she must be good at what she does. But like the soup kitchen on Seinfeld, sometimes you have to pay a heavy price for quality. In this case, receiving poor treatment seeking treatment. read more

To say that Prahba is one of the best things that has happened in our relationship is an understatement. My husband (boyfriend at the time) and I started seeing Prahba in the early stages of our relationship. We fought about the same things over and over and risked building a relationship led by resentment and never ending arguments (something that that I believe is fairly common in most relationships). Prahba gave us the tools to listen to one another and work through the hurdles that most relationships would avoid early on. Prahba's goal has always been to be our support system but not our crutch. We've leaned in when we needed it and taken breaks when we felt strong. If you are willing to face the hard demons in your life, change behavior for the better and be open to feedback -- you've landed in good hands. Prabha Milstein is a great therapist who moves things forward and gets results. Prabha is not someone who insists you come in every week for the rest of your life , while she passively sits there listening as you go over the same material. She has a directness that gets straight to the issue and then she provides tools to help make lasting changes. We used EMDR which took me out of denial and propelled me into clarity , action and healing. I cannot speak highly enough of her. She is empathetic , humorous and tough! Making the decision to see Prabha Milstein for EMDR therapy was one of the best choices I've made in my life. She's a very compassionate, patient, and skilled psychiatrist. With Prabha's help I found the roots of my problem, and together we created tools to fix them. This review is long overdue. Because of therapy with Prahba, I feel more mentally healthy than I have at any other point in my life. I worked with Prahba a year+ ago and I am still feeling the benefits of her therapy now. I was in an emotionally and physically abusive relationship at the time I sought therapy. With her help, I was able to see the relationship clearly and gain the power to leave safely. And once I left the abuse, she helped me unwire my trauma (via EMDR & roll playing to name a few techniques). I went from having unpredictable panic attacks & suicidal ideation, to feeling a sense of mental health & control I didn't know was possible. She provides the perfect balance of autonomy and guidance with each session. This is no stereotypical sterile therapy environment; prepare for an unorthodox, warm, at times mutually-sharing space. Ms Milstein has been a tremendous help to me. I was in a situation that was literally draining my energy, enthusiasm for life and overall attitude. I was really on a downhill slope ready to collide. I had tried talking to others but they were of no help. Ms Milstein listened attentively, asked relavent, thought provoking questions and showed a genuine interest in trying to guide me to a healthier mental state. Looking at the situation now I see that what she did was to form a partnership with me that had a unified, focused goal of helping me get well and strong again. She was committed to my needs!
