I placed my items on the scanner, entered my phone number, tapped my card, signed, and completed the transaction. Since my cell service has been spotty while traveling, my e-receipt didn't come through immediately. As I walked out, the security detectors went off and an incredibly aggressive security guard approached me. I tried explaining that I had paid and was simply waiting for the receipt to come through, but he would barely let me speak and repeatedly insisted that I had not purchased the items. He then threatened to call the police. What bothered me most was that a female Zara employee tried telling him that she had SEEN me pay, and he responded by telling her, "I'm not talking to you. Stop talking and allow me to do my job." He then brought over a male employee, who confirmed the exact same thing: I HAD PAID. Thankfully, my e-receipt finally came through and proved the purchase. The security guard didn't apologize or show even the slightest acknowledgment that he had handled the situation poorly. I wasn't expecting some grand apology, but basic professionalism and a little humility would have gone a long way. The male employee, on the other hand, was extremely understanding and even gave me some advice about shopping while in Germany, which I appreciated. My advice to other travelers: if you opt in for an e-receipt, make sure it has actually arrived before leaving the store, especially if your cell service is unreliable. And Zara/Mall of Berlin: security is one thing, but treating a paying customer like a criminal while store employees are actively telling security that they watched the customer pay is completely unnecessary. The Europa-Centre is a shopping centre in Berlin, it is a fairly decent size and includes eateries…read moresuch as Vapiano and KFC. It's located directly adjacent to the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church so the location is reasonable. The mall is slightly hard to navigate with very few employees around, and only two lifts, both of which are close to each other but not close enough you can press a button and wait for the next one, the lifts overall are quite slow. The mall does have some nice features such as a market outside, and a nice square where you can sit outside if you ate at Vapiano for example, and a water feature inside. Probably a lack of shops also doesn't do this place any positives, and the number of shops and even places to eat is much smaller than most other shopping malls I've seen around the city, such as the Mall of Berlin. This isn't the best of places to shop, and probably not somewhere one should come out of their way for, it has a new nice water features and an excellent branch of Vapiano and sadly that is about it, also frustratingly the toilets are downstairs (they do have a pretty frightening stair-lift) but of course you have to also pay 50 cents each for this. Due to what I've mentioned, the Europa Centre deserves a two star rating.

True, there were a lot of people on a weekday and there was an air of chaos, but I just avoided the crazed teenagers who were killing time after school as best I could. I didn't try on any of the clothes, so I can't speak to them. But I did get some accessories that were cute and incredibly cheap, like sunglasses, scarves, socks, and undies. I only hope that the quality is better than some people suggest, but time will tell. It would be nice if there was more than one Primark in Berlin, although I can eventually see that happening. Even so, the location in Steglitz is a good choice, as it's along a shopping street. I have heard rumors of ethical concerns, however, so I think I would like to read up on those before returning.

The quality of most of products here are good, but because of my experience, I do have some doubts with their shoes. If you got a limited budget, this is a great place to check it out. If you don't like the crowd, you could always come here after 19:30 in the weekdays. According my experience, that is the time in this place have less customers visit. The whole place become cleaner and more comfortable to shop. I like to come here time to time, they offer sometime very nice surprises.
