Took a class here in January 2024, and it was so fun! There are many good things to say about Prarie Dog Glass. - The 1 hour experience was easy to schedule (and reschedule) - The class felt very safe. - The instructor was extremely knowledgeable. - We left thinking, how cool was that! And had made a couple of cool items to take home the next day. I would recommend an experience here to anyone who wants to try out something new! I love this kind of thing, and even my husband (who generally doesn't gravitate towards artistic hobbies) had a fantastic time! Loved it!

What a phenomenal place and great experience! We're visiting from out of state. This is my husband's Father's Day gift. Doug was just terrific and let's you be very hands on and even if you start "mess it ip"... it just doesn't happen. He makes sure he takes care of you and your experience! Superb staff! Highly recommend!!!

What an amazing experience! For anyone interested in glass blowing for the first time, Prairie Dog is the place to go. Prairie Dog is located in the back of the lot of the Jackalope Mercado in its own building. Attached to the studio is a small shop with glass pieces for sale. I got the class for my husband and me for his birthday. It's $225/hr (together) plus tax and tip. Between us, we could pick different pieces from a "menu" that added up to the hour limit. My husband chose a large display bowl and a drinking glass, and I chose a paper weight. Prairie Dog glass blower Matt worked with us one-on-one in turns through the experience. He has been working with glass for approximately 14 years. He said he initially got interested in glass when he visited Venice, Italy, with his family as a young teen. Through the experience, he explained the temperatures, why we were doing the steps, what tools we were using, and how the colors interacted. It's clear he really enjoys his work. We spun the glass, dipped it in the color selections, shaped it, and knocked it off the rod when directed to. After we finished the pieces, they were stored overnight in their oven to cool and solidify. We picked up the pieces the next morning. I can't say enough about how cool of an experience this was. Not only do you get to experience something unusual, but you get to bring your projects home with you to remind you of working on it.

We did a glass blowing class for five adults. Spooner was our instructor. He was super friendly, informative, polite and knowledgeable! We really enjoyed being taught by him! :) Our glass pieces came out super beautifully!! You do varying degrees of work solo and assisting the instructor so that the piece comes out nicely. It is super hot when you're working on the glass and I would recommend pulling your hair up/back if it's past shoulder length. Also, they supply safety glasses for you. The class takes about 15 minutes or so per glass piece and you can choose from many colored glass options to personalize them. To cool properly you have to pick it up the next day OR get it shipped to you. They package the glass really nicely and safely! I also bought an adorable ghost ($25) glass piece. The class was $195 per hour. You can do as many projects as you want in that hour. For us it would've been a max of 6 items since they take 10-15 minutes each. Less people could do many more. Considering their prices for their professional pieces and you're being instructed by and assisting a professional, it is a very fair price!!

Cool little "shop-within-a-shop" in the Jackalope complex. This venue features a glass blowing demonstration area (which also offers classes) along with some really fabulous art glass for sale. We watched one of the artists assist a student for a while as another instructor walked us through the process verbally. The glass chili peppers come in an array of colors and we were so tempted to bring some home. Prices are a bit high but you are getting one of a kind pieces. Just make sure you walk to the back of the Jackalope campus to watch these artists work.

What a pleasant surprise! I brought my 8 yr old in just for him to "see" how some of the glass things are made. The owner was so welcoming and immediately asked if my son wanted to try and we were allowed to pick from a list of options and pick our own colors. Worth the $$ It was fast, fun and an experience I would recommend to anyone. Your piece is ready for pick up the next day or they can ship it to you.

    Ira was a FABULOUS instructor!

Sooooooo much FUN! I felt like I might melt toooo.. But we survived and had a BLAST! This AH-MAZING experience, the wonderful memories and the gorgeous pieces that we made will last a lifetime! My son loved it even more than #MeowWolf!

What a fun day learning how to blow glass! Took Erika for her birthday and she made a beautiful bowl, a flower, and I made a blue chili. Her father who was also with us made a REALLY nice looking red chili, which we debated asking them to sandblast to give it a frosted glass look. The person teaching us, Steffen, was great! He explained everything really well and taught us how to handle the rod and glass and answered any and all of our questions while we were working. I signed us up for a 90 minute session next month to take my folks when they visit. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We recently took a class! Four of us signed up to make a glass item. Great items to choose from! 'Spooner', a talented glass blower was our teacher! He was terrific and patient. Picked up our glass items the next day! Highly recommend!!!

We came with a group of Girl Scouts and we had the best experience! The experts were fantastic with our big group. They explained the steps and made it so much fun! We were all able to make beautiful pieces. They also wrapped everything really well and boxed it up for us. George and Spooner were awesome! I highly recommend this opportunity if you are in the Santa Fe area!

One of our favorite things is walking Canyon Road and touring the lovely art galleries. We have dreamt of, one day, owning for ourselves some of the many exquisite works of art that have fired our imaginations. Today, we found ourselves in GF Contemporary. We had been there in previous visits and discovered the extraordinary works of Pascal Piermé but had not ever seriously considered taking one home. This trip we could not pass up the opportunity to finally purchase two of his works, Attitude 1 and Attitude 5. Deborah Fritz is so kind and pleasant. Like us, she is genuinely enthused about Piermé's work. She was ever patient as we mulled over the many pieces, asked questions, and had her put this piece with that, hold one above the other, etc etc. She has an easy way about her. We never felt pressured to buy. In fact, Deborah seemed to be caught off guard when I said, "We'll take them both!" We are so excited to own these works of art and cannot wait to place them in our home. Thank you, Deborah! We heartily recommend Deborah Fritz and GF Contemporary!!
