Food is excellent! If you are a meat eater don't be scared to go veggie for the evening as the food here is absolutely delicious!

This whole Yelpy business can be so fortuitous. Call it serendipity, call it what you will, but I…read moreknow for sure I would never have discovered this gorgeous little eatery had it not been for wordy wanderers - and I'm so glad I did. Mango is a gorgeous wee café-cum-restaurant in the wee town of Wetherby and I decided to pilgrimage out after spotting the recommendation, as my Mum was up to stay last week and I wanted to take her out to lunch. Since she came in the car we decided to make a small trip out, it was only about 25 minutes give or take, and the day was gorgeously sunny. After an amazing little browse of the town, and a fabulous visit to the monthly shoe sale in the town hall, we went in search of Mango. It's up one of the sweet little side streets, where all the buildings are made of what looks like Cotswold Stone - gorgeous sandstone bricks. As soon as we entered we received a hugely warm welcome and took a seat under the stairs in the café area to choose our lunch. I ordered a Massala Chai and I can't tell you how incredible it was. Well, I'm going to try. The lovely lady asked if I'd like them to sweeten it, which I went for since they'd be the experts, and it was delicious. Sweet, but not overly so, spicy with cinnamon and clove, and so warming. Like relaxation therapy in a cup! Given that it was one of the most blustery days I've known (the metal shop signage on all the businesses were swinging like guillotines) it was just what I needed. We had a delightful bit of a natter with the girl who was serving us, as we decided what to eat, and in the end opted for two of the Indian lunch dishes, since that is what they specialise in. And for the carnivores out there - you wouldn't miss the meat one iota. The menu is fabulous! We decided to share the Pav Bhaji and the Indian Special Wrap. Oh my goodness. The Pav Bhaji was a portion of mixed vegetables made into a patty of some kind, complete with a toasted bap, and was utterly flavoursome. The Indian Wrap (almost like a pancake wrap) came complete with the most delicious paneer chunks, potato, a side salad and a portion of mint-yoghurt. It was medium spicy (although they ask how spicy you'd like it) and it was incredibly moreish! I practically inhaled the food, managing (just about) to savour each tasty bite, my only lament being that with each mouthful I was closer to the end. Each mouthful was perfectly balanced with spice, taste and texture and it was the perfect amount to satisfy one for a lunch-time filling. If I get the chance I'd love to come back and try something a little more hefty from their restaurant menu as I'm sure it would be just as impressive. The total came to about £17 for two drinks and two dishes, which is probably more than I'd like to spend, but this is a definitely an instance where we were paying for quality. All in all I couldn't be more pleased that we made the effort to visit - and I highly recommend you do so as well! Love love love it.

Situated near the Chevin in some beautiful countryside, the Cheerful Chilli is a relaxed and cosy place. The food isn't gourmet but the quality definitely doesn't suffer for that. Rather, it seems as if they've decided to do fairly simple meals and do them really well. The atmosphere is casual and friendly, a bit like walking into a huge old stone-flagged kitchen, brightened up by lovely flowers on all the tables. It's the best of casual dining: unpretentious but attractive, service relaxed but not slow, and staff in T-shirts with friendly smiles and good knowledge of the food. Oh yes, the food. Hoo boy. I'm still so full it's actually hard to think about it. Since we were in a group of six, we decided to go for the 'Banquet' - a selection of starters, mains and desserts from the menu. It was £18.50 and wow... it was definitely value for money. We had a 'pre-starter' meze of two giant plates of couscous, halloumi, falafel, houmous, bread, olives and salad, which really could have been a generous starter on its own. But oh no, there were starters too: potato wedges with cheese, corn cakes with sweet chilli, nachos, and goat's cheese tart. All delicious. To be honest, at this point we could have left satisfied - it felt like we'd had a full meal already! But then the mains arrived: vegetable fajitas, kerala curry, enchiladas, roasted veg and pizza. Again everything was delicious - possibly the only weak point was the pizza which I think was homemade but had been a bit overdone which left it tasting a little like an oven pizza. But everything else was great. Nothing fancy: it was all stuff I could make at home, but just.... better. Hugely flavoursome in a way I can never quite get my dishes to be, and presented beautifully. So on to the desserts! We got wedges of the chocolate truffle cake (rich and divine), the cheesecake (maybe a little creamy for my taste but lovely fruit) and the chocolate nemesis (dark, fudgy, amazing). And what was maybe even better: a huge bowl of vanilla ice cream which was hands down the best ice cream I've ever had. I asked them where they got it and they said they make it themselves. I wonder if they'd consider delivering in bulk...? I couldn't quite believe that we were only paying £18.50 for a lovely meal that could keep you full for days, but yes, it was true. You can bring your own booze too, and they didn't charge corkage - champion! The reasonable-ness just continued with my friend being charged just 70p for the 7-up she ordered: smallest restaurant markup ever? And so we rolled home, vowing to return. I'm already planning a walk up to Otley for this very purpose - I can't think of a better place to welcome tired and hungry walkers!

It's cosy and has a lovely unique look to it with their unusual decor (like photo slide lampshades). Parking can be an issue as there's only on-street parking, and most of it is 'residents only'. Public transport links are good though as there's a train station less than five minutes away, and nearby bus stops. The staff are always friendly and happy to help with any dietary requirement requests. The food is always really tasty however portions can be small and it's expensive. Expect to pay at least £10 just for a main course. They have an excellent range of beers, wines and soft drinks, all suitable for vegetarians. Dessert time is always disappointing for vegans as all they ever serve is plain dairy-free vanilla ice cream, no sauce. They have at least four other desserts for vegetarians. On my visit today I was even more disappointed than usual as my friend had the dairy ice-cream and got twice as much as me for the same price! If you like fine food, and don't mind paying for it, then this is a wonderful place! It's also great for special occasions but, due to the price, I wouldn't make it a regular place to eat.

With five hungry Yelpers in tow, we got a seat in the upstairs bit, and I was instantly endeared by the ambiance, decor and service. Everyone was all smiles, the restaurant is pleasantly done out without being over the top if you want to go casual, and it had plenty of happy diners enjoying the place when we came in. Pretty much all of us opted for the thali, being as it's basically a plate of various exciting dishes, which is always more fun than just having one option! The thali comes with a lassi, sweet or salt, and I'm glad I went sweet. It was delicious, especially with the fennel seeds. The salt wasn't for me (I tried April K's) but it's worth a punt if you're more adventurous. When our food arrived we were discussing ingredients, and so the chap happily chatted with us about each dish, and what ingredients were used, even giving a detailed description of how things are eaten in India - this I loved. I'm a huge fan of learning about other cultures, foods, practices, so it was great to get a picture painted for us before we set to dine. Even more excitingly, we discovered a few dishes were brand new, though don't ask me which ones as I can't remember! In any case, we felt very special. Each of the dishes were a delight on the taste buds, and exciting in their own rights, as well as mixed together. I am a meat eater, but I barely noticed its absence. I also tried the chai tea, which was magnificent, and the pudding that comes with the thali really deserves a mention. It's super sweet and delectable, but sadly I only had room for half of it! In any case, it's a beautiful place, and I'm looking for an excuse to return. Delicious food, paired with such a wonderful and personable service, in ambient surrounds makes for one delightful evening out. I highly recommend!

Everything is reasonably priced, and if there's a group of you they do 'banquet meals' which are a great way to try lots of different dishes. My favourite dish by far is the chilli paneer - devilishly hot and full of flavour. We love Hansas so much we had it for Christmas dinner last year. One word of warning - the food tends to be *very* spicy. If you like it a bit milder, it might be worth asking when you order. Or just order a delicious lassi to go with your meal.

As a vegetarian myself, and having cycled past the Farmers Arms on many occasions, it seemed worth a go. We ate in the bar, but from a passing glance on the way in the restaurant looks very luxurious by any standards, let alone for a pub restaurant in these parts! The bar does the English pub ambience reasonably well, with a warm glow from the woodburning stove. Staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our visit. We both ordered some sort of curry from the six or so choices on the vegan/vegetarian menu. While my overall experience of Farmers Arms was OK, the food was definitely sub-standard. The curry itself, both my companion and I thought had a strange after-taste. I suggested at the time that this might come from some indian vegetable or herb, but it dawned on us later that a green potato was a likelier explanation. Which doesn't really surprise me, as the veg was a hodge-podge of roughly cut baby potatoes, julienne carrots, uncaramelised onions and nothing else outstanding. The curry sauce was thin and unappetising - even a scoop of a Patak's jarred curry sauce would have been a big improvement. Poppadom on top (OK) and by far the highlight of the meal was the food service chips served as part of my friend's half rice/half chips. Coffee after the meal for the lady was "bog standard" in her words. En route, we had passed from Fir Tree Farm Christmas Market into the farm shop and cafe itself. There don't seem to be menus on the tables these days at Fir Tree, only a short, daily changing blackboard menu. If it were all about a safe bet for wholesome sustenance, a bowl of soup at Fir Tree would wins hands down every time. But one needs to take a chance, and here is hoping that the next throw of the dice turns out a bit luckier! It wouldn't surprise me to read a good review of vegetarian food served especially from the restaurant at Farmers Arms. But I feel it somebody else's job to take a chance on that one!
