Iconic square/park in Santa Theresa, Belo Horizonte's bohemian neighborhood. There are regular cultural events. Otherwise it's a fairly simple and straightforward space. read more

Wonderful city park a few km southeast of downtown. Entrance is free and it is easily accessible by…read morebus or car (parking costs a symbolic R3.50). The park has something for everyone and hosts occasional events. Set against a backdrop of the Serra das Mangabeiras mountains and perched above the town, the views are outstanding. Near the entrance, there are some manicured grassy fields + water features; great for families. A bit further afield there are sport courts and a skatepark. The rest is mostly natural terrain with pedestrian access (there are occasional busses too) for some mildly strenuous hikes (~5km for the largest loop). There is a huge number of picnic spots scattered through the park (some easily accessible and some less so), so you might as well bring something to nibble on or to imbibe. There's a restaurant / cafeteria too.

And it's specially beautiful at Christmas time. The Cultural Circuit around the square is also amazing! The old public buildings were transformed to be cultural centers, housing history, culture and art, besides nice restaurants and cafés. And you can enjoy all the museums for free! You can't miss this spot in the city! ;)

GREAT SUNSET VIEWS!!!…read more If you want to get the views of entire Belo Metropolis area while enjoying the stunning sunset, this is the place for you. The park is open from Dusk to Dawn. The gated location is easily accessible by Uber followed by a short walk to the viewing area. There is NO entry fee which is always a plus. The area is clean, safe and family friendly. However the only thing missing is there are no food stalls. So plan to bring drinking water and snacks to enjoy with the view! There are public restrooms but those are not too clean either. Overall a little inconvenient but the views definitely make up for it!
This is one of the best places in Belo Horizonte to lay your eyes on the sprawling metropolis and…read moreto enjoy a spectacular sunset. You can only get here conveniently by car, and even then it is still a bit of a steep walk to arrive at the view point. It isn't the biggest area, but there is usually plenty of space for everyone to stake out a spot at the railing and wait for the disk to drop. There is a bathroom but otherwise no facilities, so bring something to snack or eat if you plan to stay a while.
