They had tons of other touristy items that you could purchase for souvenirs Or gifts, including michigan history books. They have a large selection of puzzles as well as Melissa and Doug items, I was able to get a few items for my daughter for when she gets older at a great price. I also was able to find a bag of loose Formosa oolong tea which I had been looking for for a long time and can generally only find in teabags. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We did not purchase any candy but we did check out the selection and they had a nice selection with good variety. This is definitely a stop for every Lexington vacation.

When we REALLY feel like splurging, one of our favorites in the old school toys section is the potato gun. It's about $3 (make sure to buy a couple - it's way more fun that way), that "bullets" are made from pressing the toy into a potato. HOURS OF ENJOYMENT. I have tried a lot of their seasonings and grilling sauces, and they have yet to disappoint. They also have lots of cute kitchen accessories. Upstairs is a baby gift area, but is especially known for the Christmas ornaments and accessories. Their wide assortment make great hostess gifts at holiday time! It's definitely a "step back in time", but I will ALWAYS make time for the Lexington General Store.

The store front doesn't look like much so expect to shop in something that looks like someones house. They have bulk food items such as spices, rice, flours, sugar, etc. The have some fabric but it's mostly the kind you would use for sewing Amish clothing. There are a TON of canning supplies available for much cheaper than you can buy them elsewhere. Plenty of cooking supplies, farm supplies, and home baked treats. So Elisa and I celebrated our 19th Anniversary yesterday. Being post-op, she wasn't able to go out,…read moreand we had dinner ready at home. So I thought a nice bouquet of flowers would work. I priced out a few shops in town and for what you get, The Flower Niche seemed the most reasonably priced. I called them on Friday to place an order for the FTD stunning beauty bouquet to be delivered on Tuesday for our anniversary. On Monday evening, Elisa was told to come in at 2pm the next day for a follow up appointment. I had to call up almost at close to ask if they could make sure the delivery was by 1:30pm so she could make her appointment and receive the flowers. The delivery person came early, and she was very happy. Lilies are her favorite so the Stargazer centerpiece was a nice touch. $70 for flowers is a lot for me. They must be worth it as that is the going rate with delivery fees, and for her smile, I have no regrets. I do appreciate the overall service and accommodations and would say 4.5 out if 5 only for the price because service was great. This is a smaller shop over by where I used to live and I like supporting local smaller businesses. They were the best price in town and easy to work with.

One of my favorite family traditions is cutting down our Christmas tree at Krause Tree Farm. Every…read moreyear my family stays at my grandma's cottage and on a Sunday morning we bundle up and cut down our Frasier Fir at Krause Tree Farm. They have a cabin where you can buy refreshments like cocoa and marshmallow snowmen, and they sell other things like ornaments and decorations. It's always better to cut down your REAL tree, than get it from a lot. These trees stay so fresh, that you actually feel sad putting it to the curb after Christmas.
