Be prepared to wait a bit for them when its busier, but again not really a bit issue. We did not have the vreakfast option, but it smelled good. This weekend we were supposed to be in London from my son to take the SAT on Saturday morning. Just before we were going to leave for our train, we found out that there was a bomb scare at Gare du Nord. Someone had left an unexploded Ww2 bomb on the track. So they closed the station until Saturday afternoon. The flights to London were completely sold out almost immediately. This was something that we could not have foreseen or prevented. When we called the Marlin to try to cancel, the woman on the phone had an attitude from the first sentence spoken. I was polite, I explained the situation and then she started with "policy blah blah blah". '. Then she told me to just call Booking.com. I called them and they tried to liase with the Marlin. They send us an email that said. "Good afternoon, We understand this is not the answer you are looking for, and we're sorry to disappoint. We will be able to send the invoice for this booking either after the booking has been cancelled, or if it remains active and runs as a No Show. If you wish to receive the invoice today, we advise that you cancel this through your booking provider. If this remains active and runs as a No Show, we will be able to provide this tomorrow. Furthermore, please provide an email address for us to email this to, and any additional information (company address, etc.) you wish to add to the booking." So, basically this reads "you won't like it but so what". Does the Marlin have a right to do this? Yes, they can be draconian about their policies. Is it smart? No. This has been very stressful and when the trains are more accommodating than you, it's not a good sign. You really learn what an organization is like during these sort of stress moments. We have been loyal customers for a long time. What l've learned here is that this hotel is NOT one that I will stay at again, if this is how they respond to this sort of stressful situation for a customer. So be warned, if this is the way they behave with customers who have issues out of their control, then you can expect that the same attitude will prevail in other situations where you may need a little extra help or some flexibility. This is turning a good and loyal customer into someone who will speak poorly of you and your brand.

Breakfast was serviceable and kids ate free with adult purchase. The reality is that when I'm in London I'm not spending much time in a hotel, and with that thought you cannot beat the pricing and cleanliness of the room. Find the location that suits you best. The room itself was great. Modern enough for me, not sure for the pricepoint. It was $204 GBP per night. When I calculated this today, its $264 US, a night. The street in front of the hotel has an access barrier arm restriction, that requires a paid entrance or a key fob to enter. If your using Uber or a taxi for pick up or drop off, you have to walk down to the corner, they can't pick up or drop off right out front. I loved the location because it was easily walkable to all the sight seeing I wanted. Plus the area appeared safe during the day, and at dusk, especially important for solo travelers. Plenty of restaurants across the street. Its literally steps from the London Eye, if that interests you. The drawback is the check in/check out process. There was only 1 person doing it, the que (line) gets long quickly. It was flowing out the door when I checked in and out. And the staff member seemed to move at a snails pace. As if they had never anticipated there would be more than 1 customer waiting. So give yourself lots of time to check in/out, if you are on a tight schedule. The check in/out line is the same. They had an iPad kiosk, but for some reason it was not usable. The entrance to hotel from the street has a flight of stairs, there is no lift or elevator. So if you have heavy bags, you have to lug them up the set of stairs to the entrance. There is no staff outside or inside helping with bags. I guess these small things seem minute in comparison to other things. But can really make or break an experience. At least, if I decide to stay there a again, I know exactly what to expect. The do have luggage stowaway, if you need to store your bag for after check out, but before you leave the hotel. They offer breakfast for a charge when you book the hotel. I think it was aroun $20 GBP per person, it didnt seem worth it. I did not utilize it. Would I stay here again? The hotel brand I would use again, but likely different location.

The hotel was conveniently located near an Underground stop, but we opted not to use public transportation and relied solely on Ubering and taxis. The check-in process was simple. We did not encounter her everyday, but when we did, she provided the same level of customer service without fail. The room was small but nice. It had some cute features that I have come to expect from the Novotel brand. It was very comfortable. The lighting in the room was modern and the bathroom shower/hotel room wall was glass, but it was smoky so you could not see through it completely for privacy purposes. The room appeared clean, but I brought my own products to sanitize it to my personal standards. The breakfast plan was purchased as part of the accomodations to eliminate the need for finding breakfast every morning. Breakfast was complete with whatever struck your fancy for the most part and featured a standard English breakfast and then some. The pancake maker was a nice feature. I did not like the texture of the pancakes, but it was a novel idea in theory. As an added mention, some of the wait staff were cordial. After one weird encounter and there were many, I was over eating breakfast in the dining room and elected to take breakfast to my room for the remainder of my stay. All I can do is shake my head in disbelief. As an entire experience, the area provided an interesting experience, but not necessarily in a good way. From the staff not being very cordial/welcoming here to the other tourists/guests being rude, this was completely not what I expected. There was food and drink available adjacent from the lobby and too had friendly staff making this place very well rounded. Really Strong Air Conditioning This was great as we arrived at the hottest day on record 40C / 104 F 2.) Good Location Useful bus stop right outside the hotel, walking distance to British National Museum, and short walk to Holborn Underground Station for other locations 3.) Friendly Staff 4.) Delicious Breakfast See pics for the delicious London Breakfast Con's 1.) Room is super small This is again for American standards. It take some time to get use to but I found it its actually decently sized compared to my stay in Paris 2.) Bathroom Tub/Shower Water blocker is small You have to be really careful when you take a shower or water will splash everywhere. I looked it up at the end and found out this is common in a lot of establishments to have this "half" glass plane that blocks some of the water 3.) Sink is super low At 5' 11", the sink was situated around my knees. It required me to bend over significantly to do anything such as brushing my teeth or washing my face. 4.) Toilet / Toilet Paper Hard to Reach You literally have to bend your elbow and arm in a weird way to reach the toilet paper. Maybe it's due to the small design but did not enjoy this at all. 5.) No sound proofing You can easily hear the cars outside on the street and people in their rooms. You will get use to it after a while but just a forewarning. Overall I think I enjoyed my stay despite the con's. Once you get use to the small nature of European hotel rooms and the differences between American hotel rooms / European hotel rooms, you will be fine.

I thought the hotel's greatest asset was its location, right next to Waterloo Station in an interesting neighborhood, within walking distance of a ton of shops and restaurants, as well as several sightseeing destinations. The lobby was attractive, artsy and very Andaz, and our children were fascinated with the jars of candy and the slushie machine. I personally appreciated the apricots, which were really delicious. The rest of the hotel, though, felt a little dated. Still, our room was comfortable. Nice mattress, decent shower. A rollaway for our kids, who took turns sleeping on it (the other spot being an outsized middle portion of our bed). The Andaz isn't a particularly special hotel, but I'd be happy to come back on another trip to London. It was a great home base for this visit, a nice walk or easy train ride away from just about everywhere we wanted to go.

The included full English breakfast was delicious, but had to be ordered from your table, which as I overheard repeatedly was confusing to the many people staying who didn't speak English very well. It's surprising they don't just do a buffet, I ate early but it sounds like you may need to wait a while in the busiest times.
