I was out back in the coach house, which was a little surprising, and a little inconvenient as they were in the middle of doing renovations, so we were having to walk through or around large plastic sheets. The location was perfection, and the staff were helpful. I had an injury and was able to get ice each night when I got back to keep the swelling down. Would like to go back when renovations are complete.

The staff were excellent, all extremely pleasant and helpful. The even allowed us to leave our car in their car park whilst we went on a tour of Canterbury Cathedral. Check in was efficient and staff made us welcome. The room was clean, but bed was very much after its best before date!! Why, oh why, buy the cheapest mattresses available? Bathroom was spotless but we had to ask reception for a second set of towels and another pillow for the bed. This was naturally no problem for them. The food menu from the bar seemed very adventurous for a hotel chain that is not renowned for its cuisine and we chose the Green Thai Curry with a certain amount of trepidation! When it arrived we were pleasantly surprised with the presentation, and even more surprised with the taste - it was excellent, considering it had been pre-prepared and reheated by the chef on duty. We had a good night's sleep and left in the morning without having breakfast, because we always look forward to a good leisurely breakfast on the boat! Free WiFi was available in the bar but cost £5 per hour in the rooms! All in all a good value for money hotel - £43.

I was told that the air had been broken for days and there would be no update on when it would be fixed. The room that I checked into had a broken window. When I asked them to fix the window, they attempted to, but the issue was never resolved. The second night at this hotel, someone attempted to break into my room. The hotel was completely nonchalant about the incident. No one came to my room to take pictures, no one called my room to check on the door or fix anything. The excuse the manager gave me about someone attempting to break into my room was that the person was possibly drunk. They didn't offer to resolve anything and I just did not feel safe.

The night stay through my company travel agent was £7 more per night than the Telford ,location. The building has already been referred to by the previous reviewer. I had a very good welcome, unfortunately, my travel agent had forgot to inform them of my Club Carlson membership number. This was easily rectified by reception, and my room was upgraded I was offered a bag of sweets to choose from and I mentioned I'd have to select wisely, as it would be the kids eating them. I caught my foot on the edge of the door when trying to get access to the shower. There was a bathrobe and slippers available to use. Also had Aircon. Clean iron and ironing board. The dining room was disappointing; very much like a canteen. Limited "specials" menu. Hence for choosing off the standard main menu. No free paper available. I asked whilst in the dining room if they had a paper, and I was shown, via a point, where to get the paper. So up I got and trotted over to get it. Look, customer service is all about customer service..... Get me the bloody paper..... OK I didn't say that, but after 4.75 hours of driving, I wasn't in the best frame of mind. Breakfast: Cold plates. Most of the bacon, sausages were cold. There were deep-fried mushrooms, and similar new potatoes. No fried eggs. Pretty disappointing, and where Telford score points. Took my tea in the bar lounge, and then noticed a few papers in the dining room being put straight. I took one, only to be told that they were for the dining room only. I promised to return the paper. The paper in the bar area was the previous day's. So with my discount my stay cost £86.45. Mainly charming Eastern Europeans serving. Met one Essex woman (newspapers for dining room only). I'd return, but then I'd have to as it is the one chosen by the company.....

This place isn't cheap (averaging a £100 a night). The location, on Canterbury's high street, was excellent. My room was quite pleasant. The view (of a corrugated roof) wasn't exactly inspiring. Tea-making facilities are available in the room along with a few top-grade cookies and organic tea. The bed was comfortable but the height of it and the placement of the television (at a little over bed-height) when combined with my double chin made TV viewing a little uncomfortable. Poor planning. Breakfast was very nice. However, not without some problems. On the first day we went down at 10am expecting that half an hour would be plenty of time. Due to the slow service by the time our breakfast had arrived they had started clearing away the buffet items. My full English breakfast wasn't as full as it could have been. I only had one fried egg and there was no black pudding (kaszanka). Not that I am particularly fond of black pudding, but I would like to get some. I suspect I had been given someone else's break. Oh, the toast was burnt too. When I am staying in a classy hotel I expect them not to burn my toast. Breakfast on the second day was more agreeable, I arrived early to ensure I was able to take advantage of the buffet. The hotel's cocktail bar was very nice. The first night I had an egg nog and for a nightcap a banana rumba drink. Not cheap at ten pounds a shot. But, hey, I wasn't paying Checking out was a pain. The girl had trouble understanding that I wanted separate bills for each night's stay. I gave up in the end.

Plus, Patisserie Valeri across the street has some of the best pastries i've ever had. -The rooms were nice, a good size and modern. The beds were comfortable but a wee-bit narrow but nothing extreme. -The staff was O.K nothing to write home about but they are not very knowledgeable of the area but were fine overall -The restaurant looks like a complete waste of money but then again I didn't find the desire to eat there with so many options just down the street. All in all will stay there again when in canterbury

One negative was the pillows....they really were as flat as a pancake providing little support and need replacing. Staff were attentive and chatty in a good way. Seeing a rat running to the waste bin outside of reception was slightly disconcerting. He however did not check in.....

Not the usual hotel review I know, but it made our stay The room was functional, it was quiet, well insulated, not too much noise from the road, access is a bit odd coming from whitstable, Little Chef and Petrol Station on site, nearest Pub, just up the Hill, Indian Restaurant on Opposite side of dual carriageway, Whitstable is a lovely place, bigger than we thought, but the beach is really nice in Spring, plenty of places to eat and drink though parking is not as easy when it's busy.

Free wifi is great, wish other hotels would cotton onto this. One tip: don't pay an extra tenner for a cooked breakfast, its not great. There is a McDonalds just around the corner, grab a McMuffin for a couple of quid instead. The ferry terminal is about 5 minutes away, you pass by a giant Tesco if you need to stock up on any provisions for your drive at the other side.
