I booked this place because A it was a 7 minute walk from the o2 academy where I got to spend the majority of my Thursday and B it was very cheap for its location. The lobby actually looks really smart of a budget hotel to be honest by that quickly departs when you get to the rooms. They are basic, your expecting that though and they are for the most part clean. The toilet is in its own little room, there is a capsule shower and the sink is in the main room somewhere between these. You have a tv, I did not check the functionality of this. To be honest I tried to spend as little time in the room as possible so it's a great way to force yourself outside. There are no complimentary toiletries, we did have a bar of soap and some towels though. Hairdryers are available from the reception area and they do seem more trusting than the Bloc Hotel who seemed to think I was out to steal it. I'll have you know I steal hotel glassware not hair dyers! I would stay here again for the o2 academy, it's so nearby and about 10-15 minute walk from new street station. I could only manage one night here though to be honest. The best thing? I can see Quarter Horse Coffee from my rooms window :3

The price was great, but it really is basic. There was a double bed with a single bunk on top. When we arrived we found the to be clean but very small. The beds were all unmade. The toilet was tiny, felt like it was a broom cupboard! There was a shower but we didn't use it, again it was tiny and also offered little privacy. It was very, very basic. I had to hire a hairdryer and pay a £10 deposit, also if you need shower gel etc you have to buy it at the reception. For the price it was okay and perfect for a quick stopover. My main qualm was how come the room was. It was so cold I couldn't sleep, so i'm marking it down a star. there appeared to be no form of heating in the room - the corridors were a lot warmer than the room itself! I don't know whether I'd use the budget hotel again, I'm personally happy to pay a little extra for a warm room to sleep in!

The location is definitely the closest you'll get to the city centre but I'm not sure that this overrides the condition of the hotel. Although the rooms are cleaned thoroughly when needed, the bathrooms need a definite upgrade. The room I stayed in last had a leaky ceiling that continued to leak and spread across the ceiling until I let someone know of the above room leaking. I feel the bathroom is borderline gross. The towels are hard as are the pillows and bed. The homelessness right outside the front door is sad but I wonder why other accommodations aren't made for these poor folks who are sleeping, smoking and eating right outside the front door. I may have had to stay longer due to business reasons and was told that upon my next visit they would give me a discount if I just emailed them. I tried recently but my emails went unanswered. Probably a good thing, since I found a better accommodation not too much further and at a better price. It saddens me that they let this property go.

I could of got it for £99 on advance booking but I like to be free to cancel if necessary. It's a little more outside of the main city centre than the others, and quite noisy if you have the window open but silence if it's closed. Did here some of the neighbours though. I was geekily excited to be staying in an apartment hotel room, the idea of having a kitchen and I would not get chance to use :( and a sofa as well. Plus it has amicable wardrobe space. I've stayed in hotel La Tour and I'm telling you now I preferred the adagio! Everything inside the rooms are spotlessly clean, the hallways have some psychedelic carpet but that seems to be the only let down in the decor. There are plenty of lights so you can actually see what your doing, no sulky mood lighting which looks great but is not practical. The bathroom as again finished to a very high standard with a standard vanity mirror and built in LED lights but also a moveable magnified mirror. The shower was a decent side. It wasn't a power shower but again very clean. When I first walked in the bed was down and made, more so to prove its existence I think. I can imagine people walking in and immediately calling reception exclaiming that there's only a sofa are they expected to sleep on a sofa for £100 a night!! After a quick removal of the back visions I lifted the bed up and built my sofa. Expanding the room and laying my desire for a Murphy bed of my own. To be honest I could live in a place that compact quite happily. The staff when checking in and out were friendly and pleasant. I will definitely look to see if I can book here again the next time I need a hotel in Birmingham.

The flat was fully equipped with kitchen, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and TV/DVD player and if wanted you could be supplied with a continental breakfast but with supermarkets nearby it was far too tempting to get ingredients for a proper breakfast. Would be a great hotel if you are planning on staying for a while, sadly we only had one night there but will definitely be bearing it in mind for the future.

It took 3 visits by a maintenance man who didn't really understand what the problem was before it was rectified. However, the main issue was that 2 Security Guards suddenly opened our back door at 11.30pm, scaring us half to death. They were extremely confrontational and aggressive with us because we put 2 chairs outside to smoke on (it wasn't raining and we didn't intend to leave them there). They did not show us any ID so really could have been anyone! Customer Services Manager was not interested with my written complaint and I know from other reviews that we are not the only guests this has happened to. Used to be such a lovely hotel, what a shame.

The tv was large and room was clean however the room decor is old fashioned. The windows weren't double glazed so I could hear the outside fans and every car door being closed and whilst there are curtains didn't deal with the noise or draft coming through. Oh yeah, i thought it funny that the headboard for the bed in the room was for a two singles or but the bed was a double. Its just wrong why not fix it? (See photo) The bathroom to be fair was fine although dated. It was good they had a heated towel rail. I could unfortunately hear the bathroom from the next room and some sort of low plumbing noise all night. Sorry but i like a quiet room and shouldn't have to hear next doors plumbing when flushing the toilet. (I asked to be moved but they amazingly were full because of a conference.) I wish I could give it more as the bar area was fine and the staff were friendly and helpful but I can't get past the head board issue, lack of window double glazing causing a draft and the outside noise and most annoying having to hear the bathroom next door next door. Its just not good for £142 a night (probably only get sway with this rate due to the location being near to the NEC where they have loads of conferences. I only stayed here because in this instance it was my work that booked it. Best avoided until they upgrade the place. I only gave them a 2 as the room was clean and staff were nice and helpful.

When i arrived at the hotel, the young lady at the desk asked me if i wanted to have another room as there was a stag do staying on the same floor as me. I thought that was very thoughtful. The room i had was clean, well presented with all the amenities announced when i booked. The bed was really comfy and there was some nice chosen information about the area. I will definitively come back as i had a very pleasant stay for the same price of some not so good hotels.

There is a mini fridge to store my snacks, drinks and leftovers. They have a multitude of plugs in the room which means I don't have to crawl under a desk or move the dresser to access a plug. I love that there are plugs next to the bed for both standard power cords and for USB chargers for my iPhone and iPad. There is a nice desk that has a view that I can work from, and a comfortable bed that I can crawl into and watch tv in. The location is quiet, but I can walk to a few shops if needed. They have room service, But I can only attest to the fish and chips which were really good. The hotel is a quick 5-10 minute taxi ride to the city center or the New Street train station which makes it convenient. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and I really appreciate their customer service to help me always feel welcome and comfortable. If you're in Birmingham for work or for pleasure, I highly recommend this Hilton Garden Inn. For the cost, this hotel is excellent in terms of service, the quality of the rooms and the location.

We checked in, got upstairs, but the room was rather warm. Now, I didn't want to be that American tourist who complained about the AC, but the vent had no air moving at all. So we gave it a few minutes, but nothing changed. We went downstairs, and they explained that with the heat wave, it has a hard time keeping up, but that it should at least be blowing some air. So the front desk person had no trouble at all just moving us down the hall to a new room where the AC was blowing, and it was noticeably better. Our bed was two twin beds (as we booked somewhat late), and they were comfy to sleep in. The room came with a desk, which was nice to use while I prepped some work items. The room's bathroom was a regular small hotel bathroom, but I did run out of conditioner one morning shower and just had to deal with it as I was on a schedule. The hotel staff brought some later when my husband requested it. The breakfast experience is fun! They had lots of very helpful staff members willing to bring you napkins or help you find an item. They had lots of items for a hotel breakfast - a hot dish bar, a bar for porridge, a bar of pastries, a bar for yogurt bowl making, and a bar of other cold items. They also had lots of drink choices. I enjoyed my breakfast here. I was relieved that the breakfast was good, as there were 0 other breakfast options within walking distance. (kinda odd). Be warned, however, that the nearby dinner options are very slim. The 'best' choices were at Resort World, and that's not saying much. I didn't love eating there, and I didn't want to pay the Hilton's dinner prices. Keep that in mind!

Hallways look dated and feel like a ships galley. Old doors and rails. We had a corner suite which was a nice size with a lake view. The room looked nice and bright on entry. Room was warm A/C was not good. We found a small fan in a closet and used that to cool down. Drawers didn't close well and there was a hair inside one. I think there is a leak from the bathroom into the bedroom on the left side of the bed. The carpet is soaking wet . There are chipped and dirty pieces of furniture. The couch is not comfortable, the cushions don't fit well. Shower has several areas of mold and dirt Bed was comfortable overall and plenty of towels available. We dined in the restaurant inside the hotel. It was great, the service and food were excellent. Nice view of the lake. We left hotel at 3.30am. There were three people on reception, not one acknowledged us and said goodbye!
