Prep and Pastry was a 15 min walk from where my friend's house is in Old Town, so we stopped in on a Sunday morning for brunch. We got a total of 4 items, totaling to under $60: *Mangonada Mimosa *The Cure Mimosa *Chicken & Toast *Shaved Steak Sammie The mimosas were yummy, definitely juice forward, but I still enjoyed them both! My favorite was the Cure :) The food here is always portioned perfectly in my opinion! Not too much but it too little. I think it's perfect for the price point. Their fruits and veggies we got that day were fresh! And the food was great - the bread on both our plates were delicious! The service was quick and friendly, and they allowed us to request an outdoor table to enjoy the beautiful Scottsdale weather! They checked in often and didn't rush us out the door, which I appreciated! :) The restaurant (including their bathrooms which makes me want to give them an extra star! ) was clean, as well! Prep and Pastry is a breakfast/brunch type place with coffee bar located in a more upscale and trendy area near Old Town Scottsdale. They have a separate coffee bar area off to the left side as you enter where you can grab a drink and/or pastry to go, although I saw plenty of people dining in when I visited. The interiors are tastefully done as is expected in this part of Scottsdale. As I wasn't looking for a meal, I had a white chocolate mocha latte and a sticky pecan cinnamon roll that caught my eye in the pastry display. The white chocolate mocha latte (4.5/5) was of high quality and tasted great without much bitterness, satisfying my caffeine fix. The sticky pecan cinnamon roll (5/5) was a high quality cinnamon roll with just the right amount of sweetness, accented just a little bit by the pecans for a wonderfully delicious pastry experience. Service was quick and friendly from the male barista there. While I can't speak to the dine-in food experience, I would recommend Prep and Pastry for decent pastries and caffeinated beverages in Scottsdale. read more

This is our first time at this location. We had enjoyed the Tucson location years ago. Overall it was ok. The poblano Benedict lacked flavor even though there were poblano peppers in it. This place is light and bright so you can see all the dirt on the floors and the baseboards. I feel like they may need a deep cleaning. The highlight are their pastries. My new favorite thing is being able to walk to new restaurants to try. Prep had been in my list for a while. The wait was minimal and a bit noisy. My girlfriend and I shared an egg sausage and cheese Sammie on a croissant and the Smokes Salmon Hash bowl. The hash was really good with the house horseradish (very little kick but good flavor) veggies potatoes and eggs. Very little kick but good flavor. The roasted potatoes were huge and seasoned really good. The croissant to me wasn't that soft, the only downside. For drinks I got a black coffee and house Bloody Mary with a side car of the house beer I think the coffee stout, nice touch! They don't take reservations but use a Yelp waitlist system, such a convenient touch! We went around 2 p.m. on a Sunday and were seated right away. The restaurant has a modern, well-lit, and warm ambiance. Service was quick and exceptional. I tried the pecan coffee, easily one of the best coffees I've had in a long time! For food, I went with the Harissa Shakshuka. Unfortunately, the sunny-side-up eggs were too runny, and the sauce leaned overly tangy for my taste. I wished I had picked something else. The classic French toast was decent, though I've had better. Overall, the food didn't quite hit the mark, but the coffee and service definitely did. Walked in to grab a coffee and a pastry. It was around 11:30am on a Sunday so the breakfast crowd had cleared out. The coffee bar is located just inside the door and doesn't require you actually seat in the restaurant. I grabbed a latte and a dossant. The latte was well made and smooth. The Salted Caramel Dossant was a combination of the doughnut and a croissant. It was really nice! One note, it was quite sweet. Pretty sure I could not have eaten the whole thing by myself. 01/18/2026 My friend was in town, and we both were in the mood for Prep & Pastry. So we got brunch there around 9am. I got the Simple Breakfast, but the portion of scrambled eggs looked smaller than usual. They were still running their winter drinks menu, so I got the Cranberry Matcha. I expected a garnish or something to make it look festive, but it didn't come with anything. I didn't really taste cranberry in it either. We were hoping they'd have their delicious pop tarts, but sadly didn't see any at the pastry counter. Our waiter was attentive initially. After we finished eating, he asked if we wanted anything else. We were considering some of the pastry options, so he walked away to give us time to think, but then he never came back. We kept chatting for a bit waiting for him to come by. Finally I was able to flag him down to get our check. I started off with a classic espresso martini, and added a dash of white chocolate syrup. For breakfast, I kept it simple and got the classic breakfast (eggs, turkey sausage, toast, and potatoes). Prep and pastry is one of my go tos to take my friends for brunch! Now that I've moved away I'm always bringing people to Scottsdale and this is one of our stops! My usual is the steak and egg sandwich, swapping out the eggs for scrambled egg whites. Their potatoes are unmatched- always a hit. I instantly loved the ambiance here with the airy feel and high ceilings. Our server was friendly and was prompt with our orders and checking up on us, but kind of disappeared towards the end when I wanted to order some of the pastries to go - maybe he was on break? I ordered the Black Cherry Matcha which was pretty good, but I couldn't really distinguish any black cherry flavor. We also shared the Southwest Croissant Sammie and Green Chili French Toast. I know...green chili french toast sounds weird, and I was about to pass on it, but we decided to order it anyway and I'm so glad we did because it was soooo good! It was made with a green chili bread and had two eggs on top, and the combo of sweet and savory was delish - kind of reminds me of jalapeño corn bread! I mean to not minimize the bread and the butter it had because it was in my opinion perfect. I am torn about this review, but I gotta be honest ... the service was BAD for Sunday brunch. The food remains TRULY FABULOUS, but it will be a while before I go back. I don't know if folks called out ... but there appeared to be three servers for the entire restaurant. We were seated ... and then we sat ... and we sat ... and we sat. Orders were eventually taken, food came out, no refills on drinks, nobody asked how the food was, nobody asked if we needed anything, and we finally had to STAND UP and walk TO THE BAR to get our check so we could pay and leave. Food was good, service friendly, atmosphere and ambiance very good. For its location at the Scottsdale Waterfront, I found it to be a decent value for my money. My friend had The Cure -- a brioche french toast with berries and a lemon glaze. That was also the french toast I selected. Sometimes french toast or waffles can feel very heavy and dense. Prep & Pastry's version was light and very enjoyable without being overly filling. The omelet was also nicely prepared with carmelized onion, mushroom and muenster. It supposedly had turkey sausage, too, but I don't recall seeing or tasting it. All in all, this is a very good brunch option in a very nice area with lots of other dining choices.
