An excellent pair of shop none the less, they're bargain bucket outlets selling all sorts of bric a brac and household items at very good prices. It's fun just having a rummage around seeing what they've got and making a few impulse purchases as you go. Somewhat bizarrely their pavement display consists mainly of socks and underwear (again all at very cheap prices) - I can vouch for their quality and longevity! I love these shops and Wells shopping wouldn't be the same without them.

Holkham pottery shop is located in the small hamlet of Holkham outside Wells next the sea. The…read morepottery itself is actually on the grounds of the local stately home of Holkham hall in the yard adjacent to the main building. The gift shop has an eclectic mix of output from the pottery mixed with jewellery, books and soft furnishings etc. I'm no expert on pottery but the stuff on sale seems good quality to me. It's not cheap however. It's got slightly weird opening hours that seem to be based around the tourist season - it's closed completely in January and February, only open daily from June to September and open only on Sundays for the rest of the year.

Friendly staff will help you and often open to bargain for a discount. It's almost more of a market feel rather than a shop. They are located on a pedestrianized street close to Tesco Metro and are part of the Norwich lanes area. They are sandwiched next to a sandwich shop and the hair dressers formerly owned by a Big Brother contestant Craig.

Check out the notice board nearby too - packed full of useful information with everything from vegan restaurants, to yoga classes, to protest details.

Definitely worth a visit as it is quite hard to describe the atmosphere when you walk in there. You feel as if the world has paused and you have hours to find what you are searching for. I like to go in and have a browse whenever I am in town but the stock turnover is quite slow so you can visit once every few months to see what has changed . The staff are very friendly and let you browse but are always on hand if you need them.

The staff are very friendly and you dont feel pressured into buying something quickly, they give you the time to browse at you own will. When you first see the items for sale you would assume they were very expensive but it is actually the complete opposite, and you will be surprised how cheap the items are. My wife was really happy to visit the haberdashery shop whilst my main interest when I was there was the cider shop. They used to have a shop selling items that a local craftsman had made on a wood lathe in the shop. This has now gone and a more commercialised shop is there now selling wooden gifts, which is a shame. The Rose shop was amazing, hundreds of different varieties of rose bush, including some classic tea roses.

Whilst the website gives details of lovingly crafted articles almost every shop had commercial goods for sale - imports from the East - together with their craft-ware. We were at the end of the season, but only one workshop actually had a craftsman (well woman) performing her magic. For me the joy of craft fairs and centres is the opportunity to view unusual goods and see handmade products. Thus the presence of imports and goods that you could easily buy on the high street being sold at craft centre inflated prices was very disappointing. I appreciate that imports might be a way of making a quick bit of money, but for me this really did detract from the whole enterprise. For those with children there is quite a nice little Junior farm. Rather like a traditional pets' corner, this area allows children to get up close to some lovely farm animals and to help with some of the more fun chores such as egg collection. There's a regular timetable of events so you can call up in advance to find out when certain things are happening if that is your bent. In the season (late March through mid September) there is also a children's funfair. Payment for the rides is by token. The fair had closed when we visited and so I cannot comment on how good (or busy) it was. It might just provide some entertainment though! There is also a fairly large area of open space where one could picnic or have a bit of a run around. This area, at the end of the season, was a bit muddy, but provided it is dry, high season shouldn't be a problem.
