Almost ALL of our friends give this place 5 stars, both on Yelp and Google. The #1 reason that all our friends like this city is because of the food. So we went out of our way to try and it was just okay for us. Again, a personal choice. Cut and pasted from the internet; we tried almost ALL of these specialities: Look for Bouchon Restaurants and/or go to the Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse. We did both. Savory Dishes and Meats Quenelle: A light, fluffy dumpling made of pike fish and flour, baked in a rich crayfish cream sauce (Sauce Nantua). Salade Lyonnaise: Frisée lettuce tossed with warm bacon bits, crunchy croutons, and topped with a poached egg. Rosette de Lyon: A long, cured pork sausage sliced thin and served cold. Saucisson Brioché: A warm pork sausage baked inside a soft, buttery brioche crust. Pâté en Croûte: Meat or foie gras baked inside a decorative pastry crust. Cheeses and Spreads Cervelle de Canut: A creamy silk-worker's cheese dip made from fromage blanc, garlic, herbs, shallots, and olive oil. Saint-Marcellin & Saint-Félicien: Small, soft, creamy cow's milk cheeses with a rich, earthy flavor. Sweets and Desserts Tarte aux Pralines: A bright pink tart filled with crushed, sugar-coated almonds and a rich cream base. Coussin de Lyon: A little green marzipan square wrapped around chocolate and a hint of liqueur. Bugnes: Light, crispy sweet fried dough ribbons or fritters dusted with powdered sugar. We also took a "free" tour on this trip/in this city. Please make sure you tip. I learned so much history and all the hidden art. See pictures. Earned 3 Yelp badges on this trip; see my excessive pictures. Things we did while in Lyon - Walking tour (free, but please tip), Notre Dame de Fourviere, churches, parks, markets (Paul Bocuse is the famous one), museums, Colline de Fourviere, street murals (Fresque Des Lyonnais most famous), Roman Theatres, squares, Rhone river walk, scene, etc. So much history and historic sites. Ambiance - See my pictures and above. 47.9 square km. 520k population (2023). Service - Good. Price - Depends on what you do, eat, or drink. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success.

We plot out a few things in our visit list. Basilique Norte-Dame de Fourviere is located at top of the hill. If you have a car, it is easy to visit and park there. You also can take the Funicular to the hill. This church is big and able for you to view the city from the top. The theater of Roman is at Fourviere area. The old city (Vieux Lyon) is worth to visit. It includes stair near Rue St-Jean. It also has the Lyon Cathedral. The Saone River has good view at night. Across the river is the Musse des Beaux-Art. This museum located at the Terrauex Square. The city hall and opera house is near by.

English Book Club Yelp - Book Club #3!

Afterwork around cocktails on a weekday, or at tea time on a lazy Sunday, with awesome pastries,…read morethe English bookclub is a great activity to be part of. Why? For so many reasons: - I missed speaking English since I left Paris, and that's a perfect time to do it: no shy, no judgement about how you speak, if you're fluent, if you're bad, if you're tired. The coolest thing is that you're participating (and practice your English so that your foreign ex-roomates do not make fun of you =) ) - A small group of privileged people! Yes, privileged. Because when you end up with 3 other girls talking about your last lterature crushes, it's just perfect. - How does it work? Every month, Lucy creates an event and picks the place. Every people that comes is welcome to bring one book in english and present it to his/her fellows. Then you can debate if any other people has already read it and so on (careful of spoilers). And you can switch books, so that you don't have a huge pile of books to buy. - What is great is that according to the books picked, we can also chat about our lives or similar situations, or similar environments (trips, countries the books are taking place in, other books from the other and so on), and you finally get to know the people in the group more personnally and I really like it. Really, I'm so glad Lucy had this fantastic idea because it's just so interesting and so cool going there (especially after 1 vodka cocktail). From now on, Lucy will pick up a theme for every session and I think it's brilliant. It will allow us to maybe read something we would not think about at first (especially for the next one!) and I think it's a great experience! Long live the English book club! ------------------------------------------------- Le Book Club c'est trop trop trop bien !
