It's a set up inspection They will find something wrong with your car to see if they can charge more. I made an appointment and was not on file, why make an appointment. I was 15 mins early but still had to wait. Customer service okay not friendly. Also make sure you check everything before an inspection at that place becuase they will charge you just for a little light bulb for your license plate $30 plus the inspection cost $37, I'm thought I would be lucky because I already purchased a light bulb but it was the wrong one for license plate bulb which was so small, so they will be truthful for there car inspection. read more

The first time I walked in to Prestige, the typical autoshop stereotypes about women were playing in my head. All for naught, as it was the best auto shop experience I could have asked for. Their staff is friendly but most importantly, they are efficient, reasonably priced and trustworthy. They handle major repairs, flat tires, photo inspections and such. You can drop your car off and pick it up later or sit tight in their waiting area. They have a little tea/coffee station and a television playing to help you pass the time. Prestige is pretty popular so don't be shocked at the seemingly long line for service. It is worth the wait. You can check them out, although if you don't I am pretty sure they will be just fine. One great indicator was seeing a NYPD cop car in the shop. If they work on police cruisers they have to have the mojo. The name says it all, This has been the best shop I have taken my car too. The customer service is outstanding and the level of professionalism is over the roof. First time I found about this place was threw a family members. His vehicle was almost impossible to fix and the guys here at prestige had it back and running in no time. At the time I was driving a 2001 Saab 93 and I had taken it to a shop in the Bronx and had paid over $1,000 in fixing it. The car stood running for about 2 weeks then it broke down on me again. It was either sell the car with all these problems or give it to a mechanic than can actually fix it. I took my uncles word an decided to bring it in to prestige. I came in to the shop they told me I had to leave the car in so they can inspected and find out what's cousin the car to run for a while then stop running. I left the car for about 2 weeks, and they got the job done. Gave me great discounts on the parts that needed to be replaced. I used the car for a few months then I traded the car for a new KIA Optima 2012 EX My best friend bought a car in a PA dealership. He drives it back to New York City He bought a BMW 330 XI from 2004. When I tell him to let me test the car out I see the check engine light on, So I tell him if he is aware about the light. He tells me that light turn on while he has driving back from pa. I told him listen they sold you a messed up car and removed the light so when your driving it back to New York and the light pops up it happened while you were driving it. Called in at 8AM because my car's check engine light came on the previous night They diagnosed an idling issue, cleared out what was likely causing it, pointed out to me other issues in the system that might act up down the line with instructions to come back if they do And also recharged my broken AC, with dye to show them if there are any leaks when I come back And also replaced the leaking gasket on my engine, solving the oil smells that have plagued by car for ages And also took care of my trunk seal, that had been leaking whenever it rained for years And did all of that, plus a few more small things, for $350 And had it done in the mid-afternoon of the same day, in spite of being busy af These guys are heroes - especially Mike, who was handling my case. This place was recommended by a friend so I brought my car in for an inspection. They said the rear struts needed to be replaced ($600) - which if I had thought it would be one of those places that always find additional work, i would have checked everything beforehand. Check engine light was on (EVAP system code) and they reset it but needed to drive the car before they could finalize the inspection. Unfortunately I did not pick up the car because I would have asked questions to make sure that the cause of the check engine light was fixed. 2 more times I had to bring it back - 1 time because the check engine light came back on and they reset it again. When I asked the last time (again I was not present the earlier times) why wasn't this just corrected, I was told it was the computer and it would need to be taken to a dealer if after driving it the computer was not "ready" for inspection. That may be true but tell me this when I have 10 more days to fix it, do not wait until the last day. They offered to drive the car additional miles if I left it and see if the computer cycle reset. I got a call at 4:30 telling there was an issue with the EVAP canister and vent valve. They can fix it but it will cost over $900!! I told them no and then they wanted to charge for a diagnostic. I never authorized it - all they were to do was drive the car and hopefully the computer would be ready for the inspection. When I said I never authorized the diagnostic, Mike got angry and said that I did when I initially brought the car in (this was not true, I brought the car in only for an inspection). Once he realized this he got even angrier told me he did not need my business and to take my car and never return. Looking at all these 5 star reviews, I think these people just paid for whatever "service" they were told to pay for. Because Mike does not like to be questioned and doesn't want to take responsibility for his poor communication. read more

This fall has been my season of visiting the mechanic! While visiting family in NYC for the holiday my beloved and trusty car wouldn't turn on. The nearest mechanic shop was Prestige Automotive. I called and spoke to a gentleman named Mike and explained my situation, I let him know that I had to leave NYC that day. Mike was professional and courteous, told me to bring my car in and his shop would do the best they could. Well, beggars can't be but so choosy. I took a chance and brought my car in, the mechanics could find nothing wrong. My brake lights were out, so they were replaced at a little more than cost. I left the shop and boom! Five minutes later my car shut off again. I called Mike back and he had a tow truck come to my aid and bring my car back to the shop... for free... in nothing is free Manhattan! Still nothing could be found but the mechanics all came together (on a holiday weekend 30 minutes before closing) to investigate what could be wrong. Turns out it is a possible fuel pump problem. Mike delivered the news, gave me a quote with a full explanation and told me my options. Long story, longer. The men at Prestige Automotive took great care of me and my car. I made it back to my state armed with knowledge about the repairs needed to be done, because of this I ended up paying far less than I would have if I went somewhere else. The customer service is a joke. You have to wait there for a very long time and Mike would just constantly interrupt to talk to different people while he is supposed to talk about your case. The whole place is organized in a miserable way. They initially told me to pick it up on the same day. Then they told me it would be two days. Then they told me again it would be three days until the last minute. They also caused a dent/scratch on my car and I noticed that when I picked up the car. I tried to point it out but Mike turned so angry and upset that he didn't even want to let me finish my questions. It is not an honest and reliable place. That's all I want to say! read more

I came in a few weeks ago to get my car repaired, they took my car right away due to engine problems. The people at prestige give me a fair quote. When I came to retrieve the vehicle the price stayed the same no hidden cost. The adroit mechanics fixed the car and it's now running fine. However I had to wait a few days for a part, calling daily for updates. It would of been great if they called me to tell me the status unfortunately I guess they were to busy. In the end it all worked out so no foul. It seems that Prestige is a family owned business and they put a lot of pride in to their work. I'll definitely use them again. read more

Went here for inspection. They seem to have a pretty efficient system going. I was in and out in 90 minutes which is not terrible for a Friday afternoon. My only concern has to do with their system for waiting customers. It's on a busy street so it's not as though you can park and wait inside. I got the impression that I should have been checking my place in line more frequently. Not all employees in reception were aware that I was waiting which gives me the impression that I could've gotten out sooner. read more

Ten stars if I could - All-in-one, go to spot no matter what the car issue and regardless of how far away I am. I've gotten my car towed across the city and insisted on Prestige because they are reliable, trustworthy, speedy, and communication is outstanding and way above any shop I've encountered east or west coast. Their staff is knowledgeable, approachable, friendly, and offers helpful phone advice in a way that really seems to be in the customers best interest, even if that means the recommendation does not involve you coming in to take a look or get something fixed. They're also extremely trustworthy - I've taken my car to a few other manhattan and queens mechanics (in fact three before the most recent issue because my car broke down in Queens) with serious price gouging and phony tacked on estimates, but truly feel Prestige offers a consistently reasonable estimate, and the option to talk through it to see what makes sense for your car and situation. Parking in the area can be a hassle but just get in touch with the shop and they'll be creative about finding you a spot and getting you in. The customer service is really outstanding and they've gone so far as to offer to deliver the car to another location when I was in a pinch. The shop owner personally goes out of his way to get things taken care of in a timely manner and I always get a text or call back with answers to any questions I have. I could really go on and on. I spent hours searching for a reliable spot and Prestige has exceeded my expectations on more than four occasions. A+ read more
