Went to Prevail for breakfast while visiting Montgomery. Beautiful location, and very quiet area during the morning(except the alarm that was blaring, I'm sure it doesn't happen often.) The fresh pastries looked great, and Alex patiently informed me about local Conecuh sausage, which I proceeded to order the Conecuh croissant. It was delicious! The Honey Coffee with Macadamia Nut Milk had good, strong coffee with a little sweetness, which is my preference. The fruit cups were good too, but seemed to attract the fruit flies. The ambience is so great! You can sit quietly in a corner to work or read, or have joy and laughter close by. The employees are friendly and the customers are considerate too. I suppose it's just the South. My only qualm is that it would be great if they open earlier than 7am. There were a few customers waiting, including me, that were at door before opening time. read more

Prevail Union is such a warm and cozy cafe deep in the heart of downtown. It is a great place to relax during the day or even to get some work done. Their menu has great coffee and tea options. They have plenty of homemade flavors that really take the drinks to the next level. I had a matcha latte, and it was fantastic! Very fresh and tasty. I had a great experience at this spot. Prevail was the prefect choice for a night time coffee craving. Located in a cute and artistic area of downtown Montgomery Prevail is a nice spot for work and play. As we entered there was plenty of seating and light conversation between patrons and baristas. I like how they partner and showcase local bakers and sellers as well as having live jazz nights on Thursdays. I got a cappuccino (only 8oz available) with honey vanilla. It had that classic cappuccino flavor without being overly sweet. They also had some interesting options on the menu with various combinations and barista favorites. We happened upon this nice little shop while searching for Can A Brotha Get A Slice Pizzeria. Everyone was friendly and helpful as we looked around the cafe. I ordered a hibiscus tea and a danish. After adding additional sweetener to the tea, I liked it. The danish was very good as well. My guy didn't like his drink and I don't remember what he ordered. He ended up drinking water. We throughly enjoyed the pizza from Can A Brotha Get a Slice, a separate business that shares a space/kitchen with Prevail. The combination of these businesses work and I can see me visiting again to sit and chill, sipping on tea and munching on delicious pizza. read more

Great downtown location and a wonderful addition to the city. When I come back to visit friends, I always have to stop by Prevail and take some beans back home with me. Prevail Union has a great atmosphere and is a very welcoming space. I don't remember which night it was, but there was a live jazz/blues band when I visited, and it paired perfectly with the drinks. After about 4-5 PM they serve "Can A Brother Get A Slice" pizza -- and honestly, it might be the best pizza I've had in the state. If you're downtown, this is absolutely a place you should stop, see, and patronize. It adds to the energy of the area and is well worth your time. read more

An epic spot to stumble upon!! The staff was very calm and friendly and took care when talking our order. What an orderly space with all patrons participating in society with grace and respect. No one was looking for attention. It was very peaceful with everyone keeping their matters to themselves. I was very impressed!!! The music wasn't too loud either!! So notably lovely!! My custom matcha and the spicy orange mocha was not too sweet, surprisingly tasty! I can't say enough good things about this craft coffee shop. It's local to Alabama, and it has expanded to Atlanta. It was bookmarked immediately as a place I needed to visit when in MGM. It certainly turned out to be the best coffee shop experience of the entire trip. I must warn you that it gets super busy early in the morning. There are many military personnel that go through this shop. That's always a great sign as they are very well traveled and know their coffee. Our favorite time to visit was around 2pm when it wasn't so busy. The service is great, and the baristas are professional & friendly. I can't comment on any of the pastries because we were strictly there for the coffee. The coffee was amazing! On the first visit, I decided to get their signature Alabama Stinger (iced) with macadamia milk. They have other plant-based milk options such as oat and Myracle mylk. I was given a sample of the macadamia milk, and was hooked on it the entire trip. I was definitely buzzing with the Stinger's shaken blend of Miller Farms Alabama Honey and a double shot of espresso. You can get a quad shot for $1 more. Well, I didn't think it could get better than that until the next day. I decided to try their other signature drink called the HVR. I never thought I would like raspberry in coffee. This was another amazing flavor. They make their own syrups. What more can I say? My brother loved his hot latte. So much so, that we made this our daily afternoon stop to energize and talk about our day. Listen!!! I'm a true coffee lover. I seek out local coffee shops any time I'm traveling. I walked past Starbucks on Coosa Street and passed Market Plaza every morning from my hotel just to get to this place. It was initially difficult to find as a tourist, but I figured out the quickest way was to go through the old Kress Building (from Monroe St.). It's a lovely indoor walk with some public art and work spaces. There's an entrance to the coffee shop from inside that building. There's also an entrance from Dexter Ave. The coffee shop is warm, comfortable, and inviting. It's very tastefully decorated with lots of wood. It sits there overlooking a beautiful public art mural of Dr. Valda Harris Montgomery at Lower Dexter Park. It's the perfect spot to chill at a table in the park. Don't miss this hidden gem if you're ever in Downtown Montgomery. read more

I've visited several times. The vibe depends on who's working. Christmas Eve was great. This rising, I had my feet up in Lower Dexter Park. A woman working came outside and wiped down one rainy table and returned inside. Then a nice police officer came by to tell me I could be out there, "sitting down," but "not with my feet up" and that Prevail said that. Lol "Together We Prevail" my butt. The park sign outside only says no smoking, dogs, skating, etc--things like that and no mention of a "you can't put your feet up." Really disappointing to see them die on this hill, but it's great the Lord has provided this redirection as protection. I guess because I'm unhoused they sent the police officer to deliver the message. He's purchased a pastry for me before from there. Definitely better energy from him than the people working there today. Might as well go to Starbucks. Supporting local only gets you friendliness if you're paying for it. I was really excited to try the Chaider today, but now I won't be patronizing there again. They're not worth my presence. The people of the city are what support and uplift any business. I do feel like they intended to infringe upon my freedom today for no reason at all except they didn't like the way I looked. No actual employee even spoke to me today, let alone said anything about my feet being up. After just spending almost $50 there on Christmas Eve--that was a quick change up in how they interacted with me. Never again. I went to Starbucks today--the peppermint mocha here is better anyways. Sure it's probably all simple syrup, but at least they've never said anything to me like that. They do give nasty looks though. Starbucks is also standoffish. They both lack Southern Hospitality so pick your poison wisely. It's time for some other entrepreneurs to stand up and give actual community and genuine good-hearted service and vibes to the people of Montgomery. I would say we deserve it whether lying or not because you never know who you offended or disrespected. I am God's child. Use prevail to use the bathroom in the basement. The blonde cashier barely gave me the time of day, didn't try to say one word to me and I was plenty polite. Then the iPad asks for a tip. You don't get a tip acting like that. Alex is amazing, very personable and knowledgeable, friendly but professional and made me feel like a friend, not just a nameless customer! And Will was also great, although he's a little "quieter" than Alex, but just as professional. Their attention to each customer's needs, requests, and questions were excellent! And the cappuccino and iced latte were some of the best I've ever tasted! (My husband got black coffee and thoroughly enjoyed it! Then he finished my latte and had to buy me another one to take with us! Lol!) This is a great place with great people, atmosphere, and coffees! Back to Alabama again! And had to stop by THE best coffee for miles and miles of Montgomery. Nothing else comes close! I ordered one of their current specialty lattes, the HVR, or honey vanilla raspberry latte. I'll admit, I was skeptical on whether it would come out too sweet and be overwhelming with flavor, but it was perfect! Temperature was just right too. I sat outside on their patio on a perfect 70 degree day, which has a ton of space and seating for everyone. I'll be back to this again, and I'll for sure be coming here another time! read more

A nicely designed, beautifully located, Starbucks quality coffee. I enjoyed the presence of being here, the music was lovely and the decor was paired well to sit and relax with a cup of Joe. The coffee was not my main draw and it was just okay. It was to me Starbucks, which depending on how you feel can be good or bad (though I frequent them often). Despite this, the place is well worth the stop and to just relax. Also if in the mood, you can also have a beer or wine instead of coffee; a nice touch. The service wasn't blazing fast nor painstakingly slow, the barista calls out your drink when it is ready for pickup which can possibly lead to the wrong order being taken by haphazard listeners but this isn't an issue when business is lite. One odd add, they don't warm your pastries for you and direct towards a microwave in the corner. This can also be good or bad, but I didnt try a pastry this time and I am known to burn water. I loved the refreshing coffee drink with soda (sorry I forgot the name) and the matcha drinks were delicious! I bought coffee beans for the hubby as souvenirs. Nestled in Downtown Montgomery, this large, airy space adjoins a small park, affording customers quiet outdoor seating and relaxation. The space is clean and inviting, with bar seating, high and low tops, as well as a few comfortable armchairs for the dedicated lounger. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. This place is really popular with the military folks from Maxwell AFB, but even when it's crowded the staff moves quickly though the orders. Drinks are amazing. I'm still working my way through the menu but the problem is that I LOVE the Alabama Stinger so much that I can't move past it. Anyways, come here for coffee. 13/10 would recommend! read more
