TK Maxx in Barnsley is well located in the Alhambra centre, although you do have to pay for parking. It is quite a small branch compared to some of their other stores, and it is of the older style of decor so looks a bit more dated and rather like the jomble sale that so many people compare it to. There aren't many cash desks and each has an individual queue rather than the communal queues you get in their newer stores - so if someone in front of you needs a price, you're stuck! Plenty of bargains to be had though, and always worth a visit.

There is loads of clothes shops at J32, but there's only a few of them that are on the High Street, and others are shops which you've probably never heard of before. I'm only rating this place 2 stars, but that's maybe because I'm used to seeing the High Street shops.

Located just across the road from the fabulous Xscape, Junction 32 is the more shopping oriented venue out of the two, offering an array of discounted shops, in the form of Christy's, Gap, Gaggie, Whitard's, Nike Factory Outlet, Rockport, LaSenza, Monsoon, Mango and Mexx to name but a few. Once you've walked your feet off following the square layout of the place, there's a Starbucks to indulge in, but as Starbucks' go, this one isn't that brilliant, Thornton's Cafe, Subway, BB's and some others to recoup and gather energy back to the core. But if that doesn't just do it for you, wander over to Xscape as there are plenty of food facilities over there. Massive car park, so if you've climed into your motor vehicle, there's no worry about finding a place to park, and it's free too, nice little bonus. Open until 8 on weekdays, it's been a life saver on occasions where work doesn't permit leaving until 6pm, and everywhere's shut.

It isn't the largest store and it really does have the jumble sale look, especially upstairs in the homewares section. It's a shame as TK Maxx are by far my favourite UK retailer - apart from the poor aspects of this store they generally sell absolutely brilliant goods at excellent prices. They have a poor returns policy, so make sure you keep your receipt, and you must return items withing 14 days. Oh yeah, take a bag with you too or it'll be 6p!

The location is a bit odd though - it used to be near Debenhams, but now it's moved down near Sainsbury. I don't know if they get more foot traffic at this position, but it gives me a different impression about the shop somehow. My main issue with Next, and by that I mean all branches of the shop, is that the full range in the catalogue isn't available in the shops. I've never found a size 22 in any branch, including this one.

Anyway. It was half an hour before closing time, so ages to go, still plenty of shopping to be done. So I got some stuff to try on. And then I got into the changing rooms and what said my size on the hanger actually had a sale tag on a size smaller. And then when I realised it wasn't going to fit, I spotted it said a size smaller than even that on the inside. Which made me grumpy. And then I tried some of the sale stuff on and it was crap and then the non sale stuff was awful too. Really bad quality. Hot Steve and I reckon that they never try and sell all the pap normally that tips up in the sale items, because it's always always horrible, and then it ends up in a Next Clearance, and because we all think Next = Quality we get duped into buying it. It's a con! A CON I tell you! Also, I didn't like the layout of this Next. It seems to have a really low ceiling.

In terms of style these guys seem to have my look down. Vintage styled shirts, (one in particular that I coveted had some incredible detail on the neck but alas it was dolly pink, which just isn't me) and interestingly tailored trousers, with more than a few cute dresses to boot. I've found the overall quality of the material is pretty high, which is a massive jump from the tacky plastic based cloths of Primarni, and the pricing is just under the line of the likes of Warehouse, French Connection and River Island. Whilst I'd prefer to buy something unique from a vintage shop, for some staple pieces to match in with what I've got these guys are just the business. On average the staff encounters I've had have been pleasant and whilst I wouldn't go for the shoes they've on offer, as I don't believe the quality is really there, overall you can't really go wrong with DP. They're brother branch Burtons is also great for quality men's clothing. I've already reviewed it, but it's worth mentioning I bought an entire suit, including shoes, for my boyfriend a while back for about £150. Really great value!

Sales and promotions are common and they offer a student discount of 10%. The queues at the check outs can sometimes get a bit long but the staff don't have too much trouble clearing them.

Most of them are pokey affairs with that ever so snooty air to them, as if they were housing Vivienne Westwood herself in their generic clothing rails. Next like Gap is an expensive basics place, and whilst the quality is good, it's really overpriced for what it offers. For me the best bit of Next is the kid's clothing department, as they really do provide some lovely kidlet wear, and I often find it a good emergency shop place for whenever someone's kidlet is getting older or yanno it's Christmas or something. The ladies selection of clothing bores me, it's not quite trendy or funky enough to rival what Free Sprit and places of that ilk offer/ed but it almost tries to insist it is. The formal wear is indeed formal, and whilst not being TopShop, it seems more often to lean towards the middle aged stylings of Principals and Wallis lately. For fellas, the suit department is rather lovely, and being dragged around at the elbow with various boys too self concious to pick out a suit on their own, the Next suit dept, really do a good job at off the peg tailoring that looks bespoke when worn without breaking the bank and being boring too. Ladies' tailoring isn't quite as funky as the Men's and harks back to that middle aged isse, which is fine, yanno, if you're middle aged.

It is really up to date and i found loads of things i liked and which actually fitted. Its nice to find a larger ladies store for off the peg clothes. The store is down the walkway at the side of kirkgate market which makes it very accessible and smack bang in the middle of town. There isnt a huge selection of clothes but they are always changing so that is good. The store is nice and clean and the staff are very friendly. The prices are decent if not on the dear side, but, not too dear.

They sell FASHIONABLE clothes for ladies who are slightly larger, including bridal. The store isn't exactly huge but still manages to stock a wide range. The prices are a little bit higher than what other normal high street stores would normally charge but they quality is usually really good. There is also a store card which allows you to get discount on shoes and jewellery as well as earning points. :)
