And for the stomach rape that might result, I asked? No worries, take Zantac, buy it over the counter, said the good doctor. A week later, I had horrible stomach aches, but my knee was better - for a few days, and then the pain came back. That's when I decided to try acupuncture. Dr Sen was very calm, almost serene. He told me that he was trained in both Chinese and Western medicine (he's an MD). He stuck a few needles in me, explaining that my body's energy field was blocked in some places - causing an inflammation at the knee - and needed to be released. Finally, I went to see a Chinese medicine doctor/acupuncturist in San Francisco, who did precisely what I have always expected a Chinese medicine doctor to do: took my pulse on both hands, rendered a diagnosis, provided acupuncture, gave me a prescription for Chinese herbs, and sent me on my way. I was immensely better after only two visits. As it turned out, what I needed was a rebalance of my yin and yang. Once that happened, my body started to heal itself.
