We were lucky enough to score a romantic, private booth at Grico's and they were offering their Valentine's menu as far out as Thursday. There was a perfect pace to our meal, and the drinks were noticeablely delicious. The appetizers were flavorful but still light; no heavy breading on the clams casino, really nicely seasoned and the jumbo lump crab cocktail was so fresh I just opted for a squeeze of lemon. The salads were incredible; the croutons on the Caesar were crisp and airy, the toasted pine nuts with the arugula salad added that crunch that some salads are missing. It would have been an epic meal even if it had to end there, but the entrees delivered as well. The massive portion of Seafood Fra Diavolo (shrimp, scallops, calamari and clams in spicy marinara over linguine) had my fiance packing leftovers, and the only reason I didn't finish my meal was to have another crack at this savory peppercorn encrusted bone-in pork shank beauty the next day. Rested on a mushroom brandy cream sauce, with broccoli and oven-roasted crispy seasoned potatoes, every bite smothered in that sauce was delicious. We felt like, for what we got, it was an excellent value and items were appropriately priced; staff were very welcoming and had great, honest and personal recommendations to help us decide between all the great menu options. This is basically seafood-forward Italian dining done right, with top-notch cocktails in an inviting atmosphere...we'll most certainly be back!

I'm not sure what happened because if it were like this everyday they'd be closed. We walked in downstairs and was told to sit wherever we wanted and then we were forgotten about. The AC I think was off because it was cooler outside on a warm muggy PA night than it was inside. The bar was about 3/4 full and there was one table seated and we noticed about 3/4 of the outdoor seating was occupied as well. Not super busy at all. We waited about 20 minutes before we were approached. We ordered water until we could got our menus and reviewed them. Water never came. Someone else came over and asked us about ordering drinks. We ordered drinks and asked about our water. Water never came. Drinks came. Then yet a different person came over a few minutes later to take our food order. We ordered water again since we were planning on drinking more. My wife's appetizer came out, meatballs. Pretty good, similar but somewhat different flavor than my Italian mothers recipe. When the app came out that person finally got us silverware, napkins and our water. Food came a little later. That's described above. During dinner we had to get up to get refills on water and were never offered additional drinks or anything. We finally stopped someone and asked for our check. My wife had to go to the bar to pay the bill. No one ever came back to the table. At one point earlier we were asked who our waitress was and we all looked at each other because 4 or maybe 5 people were at our table at some point but it was like we still couldn't get stuff we needed. My wife paid with a card she had forgotten to activate and it declined. The bartender gave her the slip and the card and never noticed or told her. She realized it at the table. We had to go back to the bar and pay again because after cleaning that one table everyone except the bartender would vanish. Finally we paid, sweating our asses off in a corner table with the most bassy sound system pounding for 2 hours we got out of there and went to a local bar for drinks. I would have loved to have enjoyed this place and loved to have had more drinks because their bar was the highlight of the experience but it was clear they didn't care about us at all. And we were sweating to death.
