Our furnace stopped putting out hot air on a day where the windchill was -14. Going into a weekend and not knowing what the issue was, we didn't feel like we could wait for our regular HVAC company to come out on a stand-by appointment. A friend of ours recommended Prior Lake Heating & Air Conditioning, and they came within three hours and had diagnosed and fixed the issue in another 15 minutes. Scott also spent time talking to us about potential issues we might run into with this furnace which was much appreciated. Our carbon monoxide detectors went off around 9:30 p.m. on a Sunday night. We found out it was our furnace and it finally kicked the bucket. We turned it off and aired out our house, ensuring the carbon monoxide was no longer causing a concern. We called Prior Lake Heating and Air first thing Monday morning and Dean was quick to come check things out. We needed a whole new unit (ours was close to 30 years old and Dean had fixed it a couple of times before) so we were prepared for such news. Later that week Jake and Brian arrived to install our new unit. A couple of fine young men, they protected our floor and stairways with rugs and mats, ensuring to keep our carpet clean. They explained the process and kept us updated on the progress. They cleaned up everything after the install and hauled all our old equipment away (even our old furnace filters). Dean and his staff submitted all the permits, paper work and rebates for us. They sent us the bill in the mail a couple weeks after the install, and it included a detailed invoice along with warranty information and copies of the permit. I've never been so pleased to get a bill in the mail because it was for exactly what we expected. For anyone looking to have heating or air conditioning service in the Savage or Prior Lake area (I'm sure they go beyond this too), I highly recommend Prior Lake Heating and Air Conditioning. Received a quote from Jake based on an other company's indication of a fault requiring replacement of a warranty part. (The part was in warranty but not the labor to install.) Lucas and I were unable to visually verify the alleged fault but not before disassembling the unit. Lucas reassembled the unit and Jake nicely discounted the quoted price. Thank you Jake. Dean's quote was significantly lower than others and he recommends a high quality brand, American Standard. He and Scott are very good at what they do; the city inspector could tell whose work it was just by looking at it. Don't go by the 1 star review on here who thought there was attitude - we found Dean direct and to the point and that reviewer undoubtedly misconstrued that. Both the owner and his second in charge have bad attitudes and are rude. Owner is inconsistent...first service call a few years ago he was great...this time had contact with both of them and owner esp horrible and I declined to have them come out.afterall. I went with another company to install a new furnace! This past winter I had furnace problems and it was identified that that A coil in the furnace was corroded and needed replacement. In the spring I contacted 3 different firms to get quotes on A/C Replacment and received vary quotes and varying items to replace (replace the furnace, A/C, humidifier, and water heater - remember only my A/C needed attention). I contacted Prior Lake Heating and A/C and scheduled a free estimate. Dean promptly showed up, at the scheduled time, assessed the situation, didn't try to upsell me on extra items I didn't need or want. I selected his company not on price alone, but the fact that he stands behinds his product and workmanship and offers a 5 year written warranty for both parts and labor. This summer our 20+ year old AC seemed to have finally given up -- in the middle of a heatwave -- of course. We had a few companies come for estimates. Some said they had to charge a service fee just to examine the AC and that we probably just needed a new one. Dean arrived, opened it up and said we had two bad parts and fIxed them on the spot. Less than $200 and back in business! This fall we decided to proactively replace the AC and furnace. Dean had the lowest quote and the service was amazing. I called and left a message outlining the service I requested for my furnace. They called back and gave me the worst attitude about my request. Dean ended up telling me "yah we can help you... how about next next March or April." This is for a heating request going into the winter.. I called Prior Lake Heating and AC because I am in Shakopee, and it was close and a local business. I am so glad I did! I thought I only had one issue...a humidifier attached to my furnace was leaking and water was pooling on my utility floor. I found the leak and duct taped it and shut the system off. But! The next morning I woke up and found my furnace was also not working and it was 60 degrees in the house. After talking with Dean, and him hearing I had no heat, he was here by 3pm that afternoon. He said the water had leaked into the furnace and fried the circuit board. And the problem was a plugged tube on the humidifier that leads to the drain in the floor. I think I am lucky I didn't have a fire. Long story short, Scott was here today, fixed the circuit board and took the time to show me how to change the humidifier filter when it comes due. (I just moved into this place so I had no idea how to do that.) I thought I was looking at mooko bucks for a furnace circuit board. Googled it...anywhere from $400 to $700 was what I could expect. Estimate was in the mid $300's. I will call Dean and Scott again if I have issues. Very pleased with both of them and their response time. read more

I have used this company twice now with extremely good results both times. Prices are very reasonable, they do a thorough job and don't rip people off. AC broke many years ago and they just said to replace the furnace fan instead of pressuring me for a more expensive option. I just used them to replace AC and furnace since the AC died after 23 years. I was impressed with the quality of installation. I got 4 other estimates for furnace/AC replacement and Prior Lake Htg specifically mentioned replacement of many things in their quote that the others did not, and they were the 2nd cheapest. The City Inspector even commented about how good of a job they seemed to do during the post-inspection. read more

I shopped around for various quotes and Dean's (the owner) was one of the best. I do all forms of construction and know what to look for and am extremely critical of anyone that touches my house. Dean and Scott are great people and they did one of the finest jobs I have ever seen installing a new HVAC system as well as a sealed combustion garage heater. Everything was done meticulously and to much higher standards than is required by the building code. They took many extra steps voluntarily way beyond any other contractor I have seen to make this a 100% perfect installation. For example, many HVAC contractors would come in and just swap out the units, these guys on the other hand, spent the time to clean up the gas lines in my mechanical room, they labeled everything, used higher quality parts than required and paid a lot of attention to detail. They don't just swap out heating and air units, if they see something existing that is not right they fix it while they are in there. They also custom bent some ducts because I wanted my furnace moved over 2 feet. I work with sheetmetal and I have seen plenty of bend jobs by HVAC contractors, but Dean's man Scott is the finest tinman I ever seen - the sheetmetal ductwork is nothing short of artwork and the precision of it really impressed me. These contractors represent the finest of workmanship, they are also just really nice guys that you enjoy talking to and can trust and since they will be in your house a lot working, this is very important. I am also a licensed auto A/C technician and have installed home HVAC systems in the past myself, so I know what I am looked at when I rate their work as the highest quality. Now, there is one other major company in my area south of Minneapolis whom I will not name, but they have a lot of good reviews and they are a great company from as much as I can tell. They gave me a quote which was very good, but would not do several things that I wanted done, which the Prior Lake guys were more than happy to do. I am not saying that Dean's competitors are not good, I'm just making the point that Dean will take the extra steps that the other contractor's that bid for me would not, so in my experience there really isn't any good reason for me to consider someone else. I highly recommend that anyone use them for all of your HVAC needs. I did find them from several word of mouth recommendations and from neighbors. If you want the highest quality job at the best price from good, honest people then Prior Lake HVAC should be seriously considered. Here is one last update: We did permit this work and the county building inspector recently inspected the job and signed off on everything to code and commented on the high quality workmanship and attention to details. read more
