I had no problem giving him $2500 of the $3300 we agreed to do the job, materials and labor because I had used him once before. He came down, looked at the space and gave me a price. The only stipulation was that he had to get the complete job done in 5 days, starting on a Monday so I could be back working that following Saturday. He agreed. Monday he never showed. Tuesday he never showed. He finally showed Wednesday night, still saying it would be done Friday by doing 2 coats a day. He said like my old location I would need 5-7 coats. He did 1 coat Wednesday, 1 coat Thursday and on Friday he only coated about 60% of the floor and that was the last time he's been in. He told me that I need to give him more money or he's not finishing. I explained that as a business owner, if he quotes a job too low he's gotta still complete the job but learn from it. He called me screaming at me telling me I took advantage of him but he physically came to the building just days prior to give me a quote. A quote that I didn't even talk him down in. I just agreed even though it was quite a bit higher than the exact same job that was 500sqft smaller than he did prior for me. Larger building overall but his job was much smaller.

He did custom work around the fireplace hearth and transitions into the adjoining rooms. From start to finish it was a great experience with minimal cleanup on our part due to his dustless system. I would recommend his services for all of your hardwood needs.

My March 27 review at least got some action--a message from the owner. The only contact from him, I…read moremight add, except to ask me to consider taking down the review and promising complete satisfaction. The job was finished on April 15, 19 days after the review. The appearance is acceptable. Granted, matching my old woodwork was difficult and they tried very hard to come up with a satisfactory solution including replacing the wood--twice and sanding and refinishing the stairs (at my expense). The contract warns of unforseen problems with the subflooring. That cost me an extra $5400. I was warned that the walls might be damaged, and they were. I was warned that the moldings might be damaged, and they were. On the bright side, the workmen were friendly and considerate and they worked very hard. My salesperson was also very pleasant and tried very hard to provide a positive outcome.

I recommend finding…read moreanother business, especially if you are hoping to get carpet installed on a tight timeline. I reached out to them on 11/25 for a move in date of 12/28, hoping to get carpets installed before then and figured we had plenty of time as it was more than a month out. We scheduled an initial appt for 12/5 and I made sure they knew when the move in date was. 10 mins after the appointment start time and only after I had called to see if anyone was still coming, a friendly rep arrives to take estimates. I inform them up front that we will want a few variations of quotes as we figure out which rooms we want to cover now versus possibly later, and again, when our move in date actually is. 12/10 we get a couple of quotes. We ask them to look at more flooring samples. My partner goes in to grab sample boards on 12/14, we ask for a final configuration of 2 quotes and they send one on 12/17, and the second one on 12/19 after I checked in with them again on 12/18. They only get carpet installs on Tuesdays and Fridays and initially claimed to be able to do it over the weekend of 12/21, but when we pushed them about actually scheduling a day, especially since move in date was imminent, they claimed it would be 12/27 and 12/28. After we reminded them 12/28 wouldn't work since that's move in day, they said 12/26-12/27. It wouldn't have surprised me if something else would've come up that pushed things back by another couple weeks. Their internal communication and organization seems to leave a lot to be desired - there was even one point where the rep who'd visited our home prior called me thinking I was a different client. One of my biggest pet peeves is when a party who has been dragging their feet through an entire process turns around to tell you "timing is crucial". No apologies for delays or indications of surprise on their end when we inform them we will not be continuing with their business. What a waste of stress and time during an already harried period of moving.

The first visit to their Los Angeles showroom was very promising - the flooring displays looked really nice and of high quality, and after looking through all their samples and having a very informative discussion with Wendy (sales/design consultant), we came home with several samples. She also put us in touch with James, the regional sales director, because she was leaving on vacation in a few days and she didn't want our project to get delayed, waiting for her return. The samples were very nice, but not exactly what we were looking for - the wood texture and overall look of one of them was what we wanted, but the color of another sample was closer to what we were looking for. After sharing our thoughts with James, he offered to custom fabricate a couple of different samples for our evaluation, at no charge and with no obligations. James has always been prompt in providing answers, keeping us updated on the status of the samples, and providing us quotes for the various options we were considering. The samples arrived to us on schedule and as promised, and they were beautiful, but still not exactly what we wanted. After discussing them with James, he agreed to provide another set of custom samples at no charge, with the modifications we wanted to the samples he had just provided. He expedited their fabrication and tentatively reserved material and fabrication time in the factory, in case we decided to place the order after seeing the new samples, since we had a tight timeline to complete the project. Needless to say, the new samples came again on schedule and they were beautiful and exactly what we had hoped and looked for. We placed the production order and the engineered hardwood flooring was delivered right on schedule and without any problems. Wendy also recommended a couple of installers and we ended up using one of them for the installation of our beautiful floor. The quality of the Carlisle flooring is great and the planks look amazing, but what really made this entire experience special, is the level of support and customer orientation provided by Wendy and James, and I can't thank them enough for going above and beyond.
