We arrived almost before closing on a Tuesday night, but they served us at a table. Several groups after us did take away. We ordered their carrot/cucumber/onion salad with lemon, chicken tikka masala, and lamb madras with rice. Also had plain naan bread. Everything was flavorful, hot and delicious. They offer a variety of drinks and desserts. Nice decor and music. read more

Got the Lamb Jalfrezi (medium heat), Saag Lamb (mild), Mango Lassi and a Gaelic Naan. Wasn't busy and service was quick. Lamb was beautifully tender and tasty in both dishes. Both dishes were towards the spicy end of the respective orders and had great flavour. The naan was a different style than I'm used to: thinner and crisper rather than thick and fluffy, but perfectly cooked and delicious. Really it's a 4 star place, but I'm giving it an extra star to balance the ridiculous reviews. read more
More like 3.5 stars, but it's a bit pricey. It was pouring when we drove into Hokitika so we drove around looking for a good place to eat and spotted Priya. Some hot, spicy Indian food sounded like an awesome plan for a rainy day. We were the only ones in the restaurant when we arrived, but after 30 mins or so a few more parties came in and sat down. The menu here is extensive, but after deliberation we decided on the chicken tikka, lamb vindaloo, and chickpea masala along with a side of garlic naan. The food took 10-15 minutes to come out and then we dug in! Our waiter also provided us with a big bowl of rice which came in handy to soak up the sauces from the tikka and the vindaloo. The tikka had a different taste than I was expecting though, and I really didn't care for it because it didn't taste like the original. The vindaloo on the other hand was very tasty, and I LOVED the chickpea masala. It was spicier than I expected but it was delicious and was excellent with the naan (which was decent). Overall the food was pretty good but it's a bit overpriced in my opinion. Service was quick and cordial and the interior of the restaurant is nicely decorated :) read more

Also agree on 3.5 stars for this place. They have an extensive menu but it's a bit on the pricey side, esp for vegetarian dishes. The butter chicken tastes a bit different to what I was expecting as it seemed like they used tandoori chicken in the sauce. But naan was very good. read more

Not a lot of restaurant choices are available in this town, including only one indian restaurant. We decided to try it. Menu has vegetarian and meat based dishes. We tried the Malai Kofta and the Dal Tarka. Both were fine, nothing special. Rice was, well, rice. read more

Avoid if you can do cuisines other than Indian. Everything is made in the same curry sauce, heavily flavored with cardamom and the food is sweet- ugh! If you are paying $16 to$18 for mains, you should expect a much better quality. Overpriced underwhelming fare. Try the pizza next door instead! read more
Horrible! Don't waste your time and money here. Food was below average, nothing great. We went on December 26th and were told there's a 10% extra charge for holiday season.. which we found weird since none of the restaurants we ate at before or after this charged anything extra! Also, they charged $3 extra for mint chutney with samosa - the chutney which looked extra green (added color probably) and tasted like it was made a month ago! read more
