For the most part, I do all my own mechanic work. I love turning wrenches. I Put my truck into the shop for a transmission replacement. Excellent price and so I felt very happy. I'm a new customer. They called me about a few major problems they found that they knew I couldn't fix myself like a leaking rear main seal, etc. they made me an incredibly good deal since the engine and transmission were already apart. They did all kinds of stuff for me and called me at 4:30 the same day! Never seen a shop work so fast! Drives like a dream! read more

Super nice and knowledgeable guys! I was quoted $4500 on a transmission repair, and as they started taking my car apart, they kept finding more things that needed repaired. My total ended up being around $7000. It would have been very helpful to have an accurate quote (which could have been managed by them looking into the manufacturer's recommendations regarding that model's transmission before quoting me a lower price). When they had finished the repair, they caught a crack in the transmission housing (which seems to have been the manufacturer's fault). They communicated with me about that very well, and completed the repair with no hassle or extra cost. Their warranty appears solid, and the car runs great! read more

If I could give them no stars I would. My experience with this company has to be the worst I could have possibly experienced, and I haven't even seen them yet... They told me that they would have to look at my car but I had to schedule transportation due to it taking a few hours which is fine, I figured it out and went and then was told that they do not need to look at my car and they would just email me and estimate by the end of the day. I have gotten no estimate for a week... I called to follow up and they told me they have no idea who I am or any recollection of it. I had an extremely negative experience with Pro-Auto Repair in Slidell, and I advise against using their services. The owner was unprofessional and rude, and they completely swindled me out of $700 for an A/C job on my Tahoe that they didn't complete properly. After the initial job, they tried to charge me an additional $900 to fix their own mistake! The work was poorly done, and the treatment I received was unacceptable. I was entirely taken advantage of, and I would never recommend this shop. Save yourself the trouble and take your business elsewhere! You didn't not offer a free recharge nor did you apologize or acknowledge that you all missed a leak. You had the vehicle for 3 days. A simple acknowledgment of Missing the leak and a respectful conversion how to rectify the issue was the way to go. But that didn't happen. As a 24 year retired Navy veteran we have never experienced what we have experienced with you as a business owner. Your Mechanics were respectful and understanding as well as acknowledge the mistake. UPDATED RESPONSE to Shawn - you are to be ashamed of yourself. For one, I had a car, two, everything you wrote were lies. All of this because I questioned something. You included your wife, the tow truck guy, the other mechanic in your response to try to belittle me, yet again, instead of owning up. Really bad business. I called your shop & your guy Arly was very pleasant & said bring it in. He called me later that day or next morning & said it could be done before noon, that it definitely was the fuel pump, gave me a price of $968 & I said to proceed with the job. symptoms: no engine light, worked fine the night before, but when the car was cold the next day, tried cranking engine & it was sputtering, battery worked so car was coming on at first, but as we continued to try to crank the car, it killed the battery ( it happens). Guy came out To diagnose & it was the fuel pump. I had my car towed from my home to a shop, where my car sat for two days waiting on getting serviced, It sat outside of the bay area & wasn't touched. So, because of that , chose your place to have it towed & fixed due to the other shops I normally would have gone too, not being able to take it. Before noon the next day, received a call by you, and you said the car was ready, gave me the price of 968 and I said, ok coming to get it. And before I hung up, you stated oh by the way, we heard a faint clicking sound in your engine. We checked it and it looks like you have a tiny crack in the manifold. It is nothing to worry about right now, but if you see the engine light come in the future, it may be something you want to get fixed because it will get louder, and it will cause other problems. And you said it could be three years from now, who knows! I said OK. Came in and paid my bill. Took the car up the road, not even to the end of Old Spanish Trail and Front Street and the engine light came on. I thought maybe the car needed to be reset or something, it happens in these kind of cars. I called ASAP. I was told to bring the car in and they would put the diagnostics on it. The guy that came out was not very friendly at all, put his machine up to it and said I can't do anything with this. You need to bring it back tomorrow and leave the car here. What?? I just paid almost $1000 & for him to tell me that? My husband just literally came back to town after being away a month. This was nothing I needed to hear. We left and I was pretty upset about that, and called back and spoke to your lovely, sweet, front desk person. She said you were gonna call me back. I had no idea you were no longer at the shop, and I didn't ask for you to call me. But you called me and I voiced to you that I wondered if someone drove & tested the car because the engine light came on right away. I was trying to find out that if it was driven, maybe they would have seen the engine light before I came to pick it up, and maybe y'all could've caught the problem. I also stated that it was coincidental, you had just told me about the engine light may come on, and it would probably be from the manifest crack. I was in no way insinuating you or your guys broke my car manifold as you yelled at me. I tried to explain myself. I tried to finish my sentence, and you wouldn't let me talk. You talked to me like a dog. & scolded me like I was a young child , And then proceeded to tell me that you took time out of your precious day to talk to me on the phone while you were at your sons sports event & you had to go. That I could bring my car back into the the shop and y'all would look it over like it was a new case. For the way you spoke to me alone, I would not come back. You were defensive right off the bat towards someone making an innocent comment. I meant no harm by what I said, but that's how you took it. I've seen other reviews on Google where you've talked down to people, and were rude, so I know it wasn't just me. Seems like you have a hot temper, and a little bit of an obnoxious arrogance to you. Also, when I was at the shop, I didn't think anything of it at first, but I asked about the warranty before I left, and you couldn't even look at me in my eyes. You were looking all over the place and gave me a very vague answer. So I'm not sure about this Nationwide insurance y'all are referring to. I have nothing on the receipt to let me know otherwise how it works if something was to happen to the fuel pump, but so far so good A few days later. The next day I had a very reputable Mobile Mechanic come out and the guy repaired the problem in less than a hour. The purge valve, simple fix. Working with my dad, long time ago, in this industry, I have never heard of another Mechanic or my dad, speak to a customer the way you spoke to me on the phone. I live out of state and was visiting family when my alternator decided to go out and leave me stranded. I had AAA tow my car to Pro-Auto Repair which was recommended by AAA. By the time we got there it was after 1:00 pm on a Friday and I noticed they are closed on the weekends. I was planning on going back home that Sunday. I knew it was a long shot for the car to be ready by the end of the day. Everyone at this shop went above and beyond to make sure the alternator was fixed that day so I could leave as scheduled. Customer beware. Recent 3/24 vehicle diagnoses for potential repairs. Decided the business was on the high side of repairs, therefore, declined their services. Charged a diagnostic fee of $150(general inspection) and $299 for ac inspection. I'd say that was extremely excessive. Wouldn't recommend their services. Just be appraised of their questionable practice. I would gladly except reasonable estimates....this, however, isn't...oh they also concluded saying a $50 credit would be applied if U service the ac here in the future. (really) read more

Shawn & his crew totally saved the day for us when our minivan decided to chew up its own transmission while we were driving from Texas to New England this last May. Finding a replacement transmission was quite a task because of the supply shortages due to Covid, the employment situation, and the recent Gulf storms. Shawn managed to do so in record time. I am writing this review as a mother, whose teenage son's truck broke down outside of Slidell, LA on his 13 hour drive home for the holidays. He was by himself and sat on the side of the highway waiting for a tow-truck for over 2 hours for our roadside assistance to get him. While my son waited, I went onto Yelp and found Shawn's business and this desperate mom gave Shawn a call. I told him that we were 8 hours away in Texas and my son was stranded on the highway. I asked if we were to tow his pickup to his shop, could he look at it immediately. Shawn immediately offered assistance said he'd take a look at the truck as soon as it could get towed in. He was patient and kind. He understood the helplessness a parent feels having their child stranded several hours away. Shawn assured me he would do what he could to get my son's truck running as soon as possible and would stay as late as he could after the shop closed. He even called me back a few times to ensure communication. By the time the pickup was towed to the shop, it was 10 minutes before closing. Shawn knew my son was too young to rent a car or to get a hotel room. I called hotels in the area that refused to rent a room to a 19 year old. It's now 5:15 and the shop is staying open late to fix the truck because they understood my son is literally stranded. The total bill came to be less than $500. This review isn't one for Shawn's shop necessarily, but for Shawn as a human being. He could have easily brushed me off and not cared about my son. He could have easily told me that his shop closed at 5, and that would have been the end of it. But he didn't. He and his crew stayed late to help my son. Brought my Ford Focus here, because it was having some transmission issues. They had had it for about 2 hours before they called me and told me I needed a new transmission. They quoted me $3900 to replace transmission with a used one, and $6500 to replace with a new one. I did some research of my own and based on what little I know about engines, I didn't really believe the transmission to need replacement. They charged me $120 dollars to tell me "I needed a new transmission." Since I don't trust any of the auto repair centers in this area, I brought the car to the one real mechanic I know. My cousin who lives in Kentucky. It's so much easier to find an honest and competent mechanic in Kentucky. He looked at the issue and found that it was a loose wire. A Loose Wire. He fixed the issue and did not charge me anything. I have had no luck finding a decent mechanic in Slidell. This business told me I needed a new transmission, when I did not need one. The first flag was how fast they "diagnosed" my vehicle. I do not recommend this "Professional Auto Repair" shop. Makes you wonder if they misdiagnosed my issues, how many other people have paid for service that was not needed? Always get a second opinion. I will say that this location did have good customer service. That's always nice, but I would rather have accurate service, over customer service. They almost got $3900 out of me, and it did not even need this repair. Very frustrating that there are no decent repair shops in St. Tammany. read more

Shawn was trying to take advantage of my son. Telling him he needed $1400 of work on a good running Honda Accord. When I showed up shawn immediately went on the offensive. He was very calculated and knew exactly what he was doing. Shawn started announcing things and repeating himself in louder than normal talking volume. Shawn announced "I don't run my business that way" a few times. He announced (a few times) "We are obviously not the same kind of people" degrading my character. Shawn then announced "for liability purposes, I have pictures" letting me know he covers his butt no matter what any customer says... But when we looked at the pictures and shawn kept announcing "that's smashed" over and over when - in the picture there was nothing smashed. I realized we were dealing with a pro. Shawn was scripting his defense for the cameras in his office - WOW, although I despise how shawn handled my son and our conversation, I'm very impressed with how sly he is. You won shawn... My son still paid you $120 for nothing & your little show, and we left. When people get high on themselves and money they don't need drugs. They were able to quickly determine the issue, order the part, and make the repair. DO NOT TRUST!!! Was referred here!! Car was over heating! Took it to Shawn he said was thermostat holder, replaced spark plugs and few other things!! $1200!!! Kept over heating he said nothing wrong!! I had a year warranty!!' Had a recall!! Took to deal! It had wrong spark plugs!! And it had blew head gasket because not fix correct !! This place does not have a clue!!! Even took in Auto Zone print out what was wrong he threw it back at me and told me not to trust them!!!! Warranty was not up on parts!!! Had it done September 2018! If you are young, a girl, or wanting an auto body shop with a good moral compass, I don't suggest this shop. I brought my car here for a diagnostic to find out why my car was stopping occasionally while i was driving it. I dropped it off on Monday and picked the car up on Thursday. Jason assured me that while i did have an electrical problem, I was good to drive the car and fix the electrical problem later down the line (this is separate from the issue now). When I got off work the very NEXT day, the car no longer moved at all. I called them and they told me to pay for a new diagnostic and possibly more work... 2 problems there. 1, I feel as though if something else was wrong with my car I should've been informed prior to paying 1000 to fix a car that is still broken because what if I would've decided it wasn't worth the money to fix it. 2, Essentially they told me that since I was able to drive it home, they had fixed it and this was on me. That is not true or else i wouldn't still be having this issue. I could still drive the car prior to coming here, it wasn't j about the car moving. It was supposed to not shut off anymore. The ppl in the shop are nice but this is bad business and I don't feel like they would've played with me if i were someone else. read more

Firestone told me I needed a new engine. . But after speaking to a few friends and showing them my diagnostic test from autozone, they said it sounds like I need a tune up. . I called Shawn earlier in the week to ask if they did engine replacements. I've done business with him previously with him and his team installing a brand new transmission. My lack of auto knowledge leaves me vulnerable.. but you will never get that here. A tune up was all I needed. Saved me thousands of dollars, and I got my truck back right away! .. drives new. My daughters car broke down and she needed a new engine. We called Pro engine and got a quote. After deciding to go with Pro engine, Shawn arranged for her car to be towed to Slidell from the Westbank. He talked me through the process and answered all my questions. We ordered the engine on Tuesday so Shawn thought he would have it ready by Friday IF the engine came in Wednesday. Well, the engine didn't come in as originally thought. I spoke with Shawn and he said now the car might not be ready until the following Monday. However, he was able to get the car ready for us Friday by lunchtime. Everything under the hood was replaced with a warranty and at a good and fair price. Shawn was extremely helpful and very customer oriented. Overall poor experience with this shop! When I needed a new engine, I took the recommendation of a friend and called, what I thought was a shop in Kenner. The number forwarded to the new location in Slidell. I ultimately chose this shop, not because it was the cheapest quote, but because of the relatively short turn around time. Here are my chief complaints about my experience: he charged me for towing without explicitly saying this was a customer expense, he towed it 20 miles further to the new shop location without declaring where my car was going, the price inflated greater than$1600 from the base original quote (I was told to expect $800-1200 as more parts were identified that needed to be fixed), the job took 2 weeks instead of 3-4 days, one part was far more expensive than the MSRP price for my make and model, my car ran out of gas in less than a mile after leaving the shop!!!, other systems are working less robustly than before, and last but not least, an engine coil burned out one week after I received my car back. Ultimately, the apologies and modest price adjustments for things that were both in and out of the Shawn's control were laced with condescending tones and insincerity. Although this shop seems capable of quality work and good customer service, I didn't get it. Simply, this shop runs at too high of a volume to meet these basic expectations. I don't recommend taking your car there for any reason. read more

I brought my car in to get the AC serviced. They charged me $160 to refill it and "fix some seals" without even checking for a leak, only to have it all leak out an hour later. I had a backyard mechanic with minimal equipment find and fix an obvious leak that Professional auto engines completely overlooked, and refill it all for $40. It has been blowing ice cold since. I will never have my vehicles serviced by them again. Stay away. read more
