After 2 days, Spilotras clearly breached our contract by NOT performing in accordance to "spackling, sanding, priming...". They just wanted to slap paint on as quickly as possible without any prep work, then stopped the work altogether when we requested corrections. In an effort to salvage the project, we asked for a different crew, but they refused and demanded another $7,750! They had no intention to work with us to resolve the issues because they had our money. Adding more damage to us when we requested a refund, they claimed expenses of over $5,000 for 2 days of poor quality work. We asked for detailed accounting multiple times but were ignored because they likely cannot document them. If the total project was $15,500 for 2 weeks, how can the expenses be over $5,000 for 2 days? They realized these numbers were ridiculous, so they came back with another refund offer of $4,200 out of the $7,750 paid, which means they still want to keep $3,550 for 2 days ($1,750 per day!) of horrible work, from which we received no value but problems that we are paying another contractor to correct. We also incurred substantial expenses resulting from moving-in delays. Spilotras appears to feel that since they got our $7,750, they can be arrogant and not accept any responsibility for their failures. Instead, they chose to blame the customer and to extract profit from their failed performance.

I wrote a review about 3 weeks ago (pls see below) and as I was very happy with that experience, I contacted Precision again for another job. This time, I had to have a portion of my bathroom patched, covered and then painted. I also had a related request to remove a shelf from the bathroom. As with my first experience with Precision, this job was just as good! Again, the coordination within the Precision team was excellent and clearly evident in all aspects of the job, from initial inquiry and questions all the way to the final communication post completion of the job. My key contacts were Jason and Trish. My request was not a standard apartment painting but involved some work on fixing a portion of my bathroom wall, removing a shelf, and then painting and cleaning up the job. Precision was able to accommodate my request for this job so quickly that even I was caught by surprise (positive) as they were able to schedule me in a couple of days. The staff who did the job were Freddy and Steven. As I requested with Jason, I asked for a call about an hour before the staff's arrival at my apt as it's currently unoccupied. I got a call from Javier exactly an hour before the promised start time and Freddy and Steve arrived right on time! Freddy was already aware of the "special" request I had with the bathroom shelf and after a quick run-down, work started and was done in a couple of hours. Freddy and Steve knew exactly what they were doing (notable since this was not a standard job) and everything was completed in a couple of hours! I will definitely be working with Precision again and I highly recommend the company as it's very comforting to work with a highly professional organization that does excellent work! On my first call to Precision, they were able to give me a rough price estimate and date availability. This was a pleasant surprise as I needed the job done soon and, it's always hard to confirm an appointment without having an idea of price. (Of course, the final price quote had to be confirmed upon providing further details via email but this was done very quickly as well) My primary contacts at Precision were Jason and Trish. Both were very professional, efficient and friendly in their communication. And, they were able to accommodate my request on a few days' notice. We kept in regular contact throughout the process and calls and emails were returned promptly. The overall quality of the work was great. I met Javier (Project Manager) at my property just before work started to go over any relevant issues. The team were there on time and ready to start working immediately. Javier was also very professional and put me at ease to the point that I only checked on the quality of the job after the painting team was done and already left the property. One important thing to keep in mind for those not familiar with big jobs (i.e. painting, flooring, plumbing, etc.) for most New York city buildings is the insurance coverage of the contractors. Some companies will not have this ready or have sufficient coverage to complete jobs in some buildings. Precision Painting was on top of all required paperwork and approvals for this aspect of the job.

They tore the brand new carpeting which cost us $900 to have it repaired. They also slopped the paint everywhere and washed their dirty paint brushed in several sinks blocking the drains. We had more damage from them than we had from the storm. We hired Glenn Totten of Totten Painting to restore the room and repair the storm damage as well as the damage from the first contractor. We could not have made a better choice! Glen and his team gave us a high quality, professional job at a fair price. We are happy to recommend Totten Painting if you are looking for a high quality, professional job in central New Jersey

I did the "adult" thing & got three quotes. The other two were late, wish washy, cheaper but would take a long time. Anyone who has had work done or painting knows that having a bunch of strangers in your home sucks & creates chaos. Best to pay more to get the job done. Ross from Precision painting showed up on time (usually early during the job), had an industry discount with high-end Farrow & Ball paint, & left me his business card like a professional. He also knew about priming over different colors & surfaces & what my specific project needed for gloss levels, etc. Ross' quote was reasonable & he would be faster than the other guys. I confirmed with the woman holding down the organized office & decided to sign with them. Of course I added in wallpaper on the ceiling & crown moulding after I asked & Ross was calm about it, "yeah, we can do that" is not what I am used to hearing. He didn't second guess my wants as a woman & had capable men on hand to really make my dream room come true versus settling. We readjusted the quote to add in the new work & ALL FINANCIAL & TIME PARAMETERS WERE 100% CLEAR. There were no games around money or time- no saying he'd show up & then nothing. His crew were the best. They came early & were good people. Minimal mess. I have had all of this work done multiple times in the past with horrible messes & dust. I feel traumatized by past work but Ross + Precision Painting job was unbelievable. The room before was OK but boring & simplistic plus kind of messy & a bad paint job. The paint job was a sloppy mess. Than the wood cases started to peel. We told him that he never sanded the existing oil. He insisted he did. He had a Benjamin Moore rep come to the house who told him that the casing were not sanded enough. Ross decided to strip it with peel away. He never had enough workers to do the job properly so the peel away dried and created a mess. All the wood casings needed heavy sanding since he never cleaned it. It was like he had no idea how to use the striper. We are two months into painting one room with no end in sight. We are now arguing about sanding the horrible strip job. My advice do not hire them!!!!!
