This review is two years overdue, but here's the bottom line: Every time it has rained even moderately since March of 2022, I've said these words to my wife: "Getting that drainage done was the best money we've ever spent." And when I say "drainage," I mean the work that was done by Shanese's crew from Professional Drainage Experts. About ten years ago, we had major landscaping done, which led to drainage problems during rains, including flooding around the door to our garage. With even moderate rain, I would need to stack sandbags and get out my little sump pump. Sometimes, I'd be out there in the middle of the night, getting soaked while pumping water away from the house. I searched online for drainage contractors, but it was surprisingly difficult to find more than a couple, one of which was up in the Valley. The other was Shanese. She came out, drew up a basic plan of the house and yard, asked questions about problem areas, and said she'd email me the estimate. Very professional, very knowledgeable. The estimate arrived, and I got sticker shock. Like an idiot! She was proposing major work that would require a large crew. To protect my house. And looking back, I feel like the price was a bargain for all the protection we now have. After almost two more years of flooding and pumping and getting soaked, I broke down, called Shanese, got a new estimate (complete with Covid supply problem price increases), and paid the money. A large crew descended on my house, dug up my yard, and put in catch basins for the rain gutter downspouts, French drains, and a mega, in-ground sump pump. Overkill? These days, who can know? But I do know that I have complete peace of mind whenever it rains, no matter how hard. All of that water that used to rise up and threaten my house is now diverted out to the street. I get to sleep through the night and stay dry. And no more sandbags. No contracting job goes perfectly, and this was no exception. But you should know to expect some annoyances and communication issues in a big project. They happen. And I'd happily go through any of the not-so-great moments to have such an excellent drainage system protecting my home. First they did not show up for inspection. When i called they said it never made it on the calendar but would send an inspector out in 2 days and offered a $250. discount. Austin came out and spent time taking pictures, asking questions and answering all of ours. He said we would send us a proposal within 2 days. One week later I emailed him and he said he would try and send it the next day. 5 weeks later we and we did not hear anything back from this company. read more

I was very fortunate to find Professional Drainage Experts. From the moment I contacted them I know I had found the right team to fix our issue. They were able to get out quickly, do a very detailed site walk and get a bid back quickly. Job took 3 days to complete under hot conditions. The crew (there was 5 people total!) were all very professional and nice and the level of detail shows. They had to saw through some very thick concrete, dig out some trenches, add rebar and epoxy along with the drain gutters/grates and then re-concrete everything. They also did this work on a steep downward slope driveway and worked on a very steep hill. I cannot express enough gratitude for Shanese and her entire team. I'm very happy to be writing this five star review. This company is the real deal! One of my home gutters is designed to drain directly into my concrete patio, and then all the way out to the street. One particular gutter had become badly clogged and the rainwater pours off the roof instead of down the drain. This is not a good situation. I called Drainage Professionals because on Yelp, they have tons of perfect ratings from clients.  Today I learned first hand why they have so many loyal customers! Kenneth and Kendrick arrived at the exact time they were expected. They used a camera to inspect my drainage system and Hydro-Jet flushing to clear my dirt-clogged drains. We had an issue with the concrete sloping towards our shed and because it's built right on the foundation, water was actually getting inside. They recommended a drain spanning the length of the shed and it was a great idea! The water runoff pile is tucked nicely next to our fence and drains out via a pop up in a planter area. These guys are the best and do great work! I had a major issue with water getting into my crawlspace so I immediately called Professional Drainage Experts. Jonathan came over and inspected the property and crawlspace. At the time, the crawlspace was so wet it was difficult to move through but Jonathan was able to do so and not afraid of a little mud. Upon inspection, he immediately knew exactly what needed to be done - it helps that he has a strong engineering background in addition to being a drainage expert. The scope of work was as follows: * Excavate approximately 153ft X 6ft X 4ft trench along the backside and left side of the house (deeper than the foundation) for retaining wall and drainage system install. * Install forms and rebar for the wall * After wall is clear from forms Install sump pump * Install waterproofing system and drainage pipe to sump pump * Backfill with rock needed for positive flow to the drainage system * Back fill with dirt and grade area as needed * Install electrical for the pump * Reinstall the drainage for the downspouts and run them to the sump pump * Clean work area and remove debris The job took about 1 month for Jonathan and his team to complete. There was quite a bit of demo done to my backyard and when completed - it's looks exactly as it did before (except the crawl space is now DRY!!). We felt comfortable with Shanese from the beginning. When she came out to give us a quote she was professional, knowledgeable, and spoke in a language we could understand. We felt her quote was reasonable and we were extra happy to support a woman business owner from the area. The team put in french drains around about a third of our house and routed most of the water to a sump pump which they installed. They also found where one of our backyard drains was routed (we couldn't figure it out) and determined it simply dumped into the middle of our front yard where someone had jacked up the drainage there. To fix it, Shanese and the team got us a change order at a price we were happy with, and they fixed that problem during the same time they were fixing the rest of our problems. The team of guys who did the work were awesome! They regularly checked on how we were doing, took our multitudes of questions with extraordinary grace, and made all of the minor change requests/fixes that come up in a large project without fuss. We hovered a lot and they were seemingly all good with it. I also felt comfortable with their knowledge and expertise. They told us what needed to be cared for and what didn't. I live in Huntington Beach and our sunken living room has gotten water each time we get a heavy rainy season so I called Professional Drainage Experts. Shanese (owner) and Julio (head foreman) came out to develop a plan. They installed French drains that connect to a sump pump to take the water out to the street. They installed new concrete in my backyard and all surface drains also emptied into the sump pump basin. I can't say enough about Julio and his crew. They showed up every day at 7am worked till 3:30pm, six days a week till the job was finished. They left my house and yard cleaner than they were when the project started. Whenever I think may I have a problem and I want to fix something or I just want something checked just to be proactive and prevent problems, I have a professional come out and take a look... and then all of a sudden I have a $5k-15k worth of work staring me in the face and there goes my emergency fund. I've learned as a homeowner that any company I work with, the first and foremost thing that I sould rate them on is their diagnosis of the problem. Do they know what they're talking about, and are they being honest? This company has not actually done any work on my property except this: the diagnosis. And I will say that these guys are amazing. They sent me a project manager named Jonathan. He showed up on time which is always a good sign. He spent a good hour looking around the parameters of the house, the inside of the entire house and even the attic (I was worried about a crack running in that are), explaining everything to us. All of his explanation made total sense. His diagnosis was that our house was fine. There are certain areas that need cosmetic work, but there was nothing of concern. That was a first. We have an old house, and he could've easily tried to sell us on something, but he was thorough, professional, respectful and when he didn't see a problem, he was honest. If I ever have any problems with foundation or drainage, this is the company I'm going with. And Jonathan will be my project manager. Over the past two years, with unusually heavy rain in the winter, we had lots of water building up in our back yard and one side yard so needed help in figuring out what the problem was. I searched in a variety of ways (web, BBB, networking) and found a few options (mainly landscaping companies). I called three and had them come out and look at my yard. Two of them proposed the same solution but also tried to upsell me with a variety of additional work to "improve" my yard. The third on did not have insurance and I was not comfortable having them work on my property. Professional Drainage Experts did a great job addressing our drainage issue at our 60-yr old duplex in Dana Point. Because of the slope on our property, we historically have had issues with water seeping into our crawl space. The Company ripped up all the concrete around the property and dug trenches along the crawl space, installed a French drain as well and piping all around the property (12 drains in total), and a sump pump to get the water out to the street. Because the concrete was completely removed, we took the opportunity to re-pipe our sewage system as well, and the Company worked well with our plumbers to ensure they were able to synchronize the two projects. Shanese was a pleasure to work with and was super helpful in addressing a couple of issues that arose during the 4-week construction project with plumbing, tenant issues and concrete. Edgar (project foreman) was also a pleasure to work with and we kept in constant communication throughout the job to make sure the project stayed on schedule and any unforeseen issues were addressed timely. I wanted to give a shout out to this company and Shanese who spent some of her time answering my questions and reviewing photos of the condition of our house foundation and what I thought needed repairs. I wasn't 100% sure the work I needed done was something Professional Drainage Experts normally handles and as it turned out, I actually only needed someone to repair my stucco and weep screed. But Shanese took the time to give me feedback on irrigation and other water intrusion issues that she noticed were likely causing my stucco issues. Also it was good to confirm that the issues I was having were not the severe foundation issues that Professional Drainage Experts would normally handle. For that, I appreciate not being told I had a foundation issue when I really didn't and that type of honesty is why I'm taking the time to leave a positive review even though I didn't have to use their services. read more

Everyone from Brett (estimator), Liberty (coordinator), Andrew & Julio (supervisors) and the entire team did a great job repairing a major drainage issue at my elderly parents' house in Laguna Niguel. The main drain line on the side of the house was completely infiltrated by tree roots. The project required the crew to channel cut concrete, dig under a wall and planter, and create a new trench line in the front yard to avoid existing trees and completely replace the main drain line. They also added several catch basins and additional circle drains, and now the drainage works great! Our garage sits at the bottom of a hill and the foundation was showing signs of water damage. Our house also has some hairline cracks in a few walls, and a foundation company said we should look into drainage solutions to prevent further foundation settlement due to ground moisture. I found Professional Drainage Experts on Yelp and I'm so happy I did. They came out quickly and did a thorough review of the property, and the team completed their work installing a french drain around our garage and several downspout extenders/pop-ups for our gutters this past week. It was a huge project and I couldn't be happier with the results. The team went above and beyond my expectations. We accidentally told the team the wrong spot for one of the downspout pipes, and they moved it a few feet over when we realized our mistake. They even repaired a leaky pipe that they noticed when reinstalling it--that project was on my to-do list but now I don't have to make a trip to the hardware store and try to figure out what I need; the team took care of it without even being asked. Five plus rating! Shanese certainly chose the right name for her company. They are professional and they are experts at resolving drainage problems. From the day Shanese came to my home to do an assessment and recommend a course of action, to the completion of the project, I knew I'd hired the right company to repair and remediate the drainage issues at the back of my home. Kenneth, the crew chief and his team (Adam, Luis and Jorge) did an excellent job. They arrived everyday with a positive, can-do attitude and worked extremely hard. Kenneth and Adam very patiently answered my numerous questions and displayed expertise on the installation of French drains, sump pump, water proofing, gutters and underground downspouts. After 9 years of living in our property with poor drainage, and a foundation replacement on the to do list, I can finally sleep at night when I hear rain. Our lot was too flat and weird to just grade water away from the house. After our foundation replacement it required a new driveway, foundation water proofing, pipes, sump pump, and French drains, but while not cheap, it was worth every penny. The amount of attempts I tried to make to our drainage in the meantime continued to fail and make things worse. Rain barrels, hoses to the alley, it was not only not able to function as I needed to meet the demand of the rain, but looked so ugly. The team was professional and collaborative with certain things and came back after to make some adjustments. They finished 2 weeks before all these atmospheric river events started and was so happy seeing it in action. Finally!
