After delivery, I noticed underside slats and other areas were not sealed. Just bare wood. Mr. Budd claimed he sprayed three coats of marine-grade sealer. Doubtful. More like one coat and areas with no sealer at all. I contacted Mr. Budd. Let him know furniture had unsealed areas and part was missing. Sent pictures. Asked him to correct his work. No response. Did nothing to make it right. Lesson learned -- The reputation, ethics, honesty and integrity of a service provider is not just based on the work, but what happens afterwards when something goes wrong. Mr. Budd did nothing. So what does that say about his company? I do not recommend.

I bought an expensive sofa at Roche Bobois about 10 years ago (I would advise you not to buy there…read more- see my Yelp review). About 3 years of gentle use by two adults without children or pets, it looked terrible. I spent 6, yes, 6 years looking for an upholsterer who could recover it for me. My sofa, apparently, had a lot of details that were difficult to replicate. I had all but given up when I happened to find the Upholstery Shop on Yelp. I texted a photo of my sofa to them. I quickly got a response from Chelsea, who is terrific! We discussed those specific features, fabrics, timing, etc. Within a few days, I went to the shop to see some of their fabrics and get more of my questions answered. I received my fabric in a couple of days and then arranged delivery of the sofa to their shop. (This is the only negative thing I'll say about The Upholstery Shop, they do not provide pickup and delivery, you have to do that independently and it costs a lot! I live 9 miles from the store and do not have stairs or anything complicated and it cost $185 + tips each way. Other upholsterers I talked to charged as little as $75/each way). Anyway, my project was completed by Mario, the lead upholsterer. He did a fantastic job! He was able to retain all of the fancy details except for one, due to equipment limitations and I was OK with the option he could provide. He actually explained the structural issues that made the sofa so uncomfortable and how he could fix them. Chelsea is a total rock star and kept me in the loop throughout. I really appreciated her calming nature :) Two weeks later, my sofa was finished and it looks (and feels) fantastic. It was expensive; their base price is pretty reasonable, but those darn details were pricey to replicate. I was just thrilled to find someone skilled enough to do the job. Strong recommend and I've already got one or two more things I'll eventually get re-done,
