We come into town to shoot technical and installation videos. We land at O'Hare, grab a car, and then make a bee line to ProGear where Peter takes great care of us. They are expert in their suggestions and run an incredible organized shop. They'll even load up your car. Do you need sandbags? Ask for a couple, you'll need them in the windy city. I love this place. I have been renting photo gear for years and have never been able to find the combination of friendly, helpful service that is fast and efficient. ProGear hits them all. I spoke with Peter about renting a Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 lens. Apparently they've had quite a few inquires about this lens that they decided to order one after my request. Lucky me was the first to use this bad boy! Their facility is spotless and all of the employees were friendly and helpful. Their professionalism and passion for what they do are in evidence; while the shop has grown quickly (with a best studio write-up in PDN, no less), any client can still enjoy the genuine care and attention to detail that make me pass up other rental shops on my way to ProGear. The owners are knowledgeable and personable -- if you have any question, they will always make time to share their expertise. ProGear's equipment is impeccable and reliable. O my Gosh. These guys knocked it out of the park! I just flew into town from Atlanta for an engagement shoot and I could not bring my external battery from home because it was to big. I called up a few rental places with little to no help at all. Finally placed a call to ProGear and Got Steve. There were already closed but he waited for an hour while I drove from the airport to come and pick up a piece of gear that no one else seemed to have. Even better once I got there He helped me out by telling me the sweet places to shoot around town. Our production company is based out of LA and recently went out to Chicago for a week long shoot. We had to last minute rent lighting/sound gear, and Steve and Doug at ProGear hooked it up. I've rented lighting and equipment for tons of shoots all over the country in the past 10 years, and ProGear is without question my favorite rental house, period. They have all the gear that you'd need for any shoto, but the big difference is their staff. These guys are friendly and chill, and they'll make sure you're taken care of. I was just in Chicago for a shoot last week and one of the camera bodies I rented had a firmware issue, and these guys were lightening fast to offer to refund the fee for that particular piece of equipment before I could even suggest it, no questions asked. I CANNOT say enough good things about the guys at Pro Gear! They are really just as good as it gets! They are super professional, knowledgeable, and so nice. They are so willing to help with any issue. Case in point: I have an Elinchrom softbox that had lost one of it's spokes - they took the time to find an old chimera spoke, and SAWED IT OFF to fit my softbox in order to help me. What the heck! Progear is my favorite rental joint in the city. One time I had an emergency while they were closed. I left a message asking if I could rent a 400mm f2.8 for a wedding the next day. The next morning, as soon as the place opened, they gave me a call offering to drive the lens to me Evanston. Another time, I got a sensor cleaning for $25 in half an hour and it was a good job too. I never write reviews. Going to take a few minutes to write one for them because they've been so great. I couldn't find some images that I shot so I called them to see if it was still on the card. It had been a few days since I returned it so didn't expect them to still have it. The cards were cleared but they offered to run it through their data recovery program.
