I had a coupon for a free can of any Arizona drink and I've been searching for the watermelon one like forever, lol. I decided to try my luck to see if they had it and lo and behold they did! Hurrah! This location is a free-standing standalone store. Not connected to a gas station. It's in Sandy Hill, near the University of Ottawa student residences, so I'm sure it does well. It has a large selection of Froster flavours, as well as Polar Pops (they had Green Apple Crush!) and flavoured coffees (they had Mint Oreo, and S'mores!!). They have lots of canned and bottled drinks and packaged snacks as well. Service was very friendly and efficient. The lady working there was the friendliest staff at any Circle K I've ever encountered. This location is more for the people who live nearby because parking is street parking only and difficult to find. I actually parked several blocks away.

We were surprised to find a number of random items in the store, in addition to your usual snack and grocery items. There was a cash register, some electronics, purses, and other miscellaneous items on sale. The prices were all very reasonable and were actually much cheaper than other convenient stores we've been to. We were disappointed that they didn't have any hotdogs, but there were vegetable samosas on sale with sauce for under $2, which I will definitely try the next time I stop by. The lady at the cash register was very sweet. She asked us if we were new to the neighbourhood because she's never seen us before. We'll definitely be going back soon!

Remac is a convenience store, but they sell samosas and Jamaican patties. I saw pictures online that they sell sausage rolls, but they didn't have any while I was there. And they only had vegetarian samosas, no beef or chicken samosas. They did have both chicken and beef patties though. The samosas were $2.25 for 4 and the Jamaican patties were I think $2.25 each if you bought one, but $1.95 each if you bought 2. I bought 2, one chicken and one beef. The lady warned me that she only had spicy beef patties left and they are really spicy. I said I was ok with that. They actually weren't all that spicy, IMO, lol. The beef and chicken patties were good, they had more filling than at some other places, but nothing beats the beef patties at Golden Patty in Kensington Market in Toronto - I'm still looking for a local substitute, but no dice thus far. The samosas were very flavourful. I always prefer beef or chicken samosas to potato samosas, but I enjoyed these. The potatoes are more mashed instead of cubed. I discovered Middle Eastern meat pies when I first moved to Ottawa and have been hooked ever since. So I'm always up for checking out new places. I learned that SM Market, a convenience store in the Alta Vista Shopping Centre (it's really more of a plaza), had meat pies, so when I was in the area, I dropped by. The store itself had a lot of things that appealed to me. They have Mini Melts, which are little dots of freeze-dried ice cream. They are similar to Dippin Dots. I love this frozen treat! They also have a wall of unusual soda flavours. And they have a slushie machine. It's Slush Puppie though, my least favourite slushie brand, but still, in a pinch, I'd drink Slush Puppie, lol. Their meat pie counter is at the back of the store. They have meat pies, cheese pies, and zataar pies. They also have pizza by the slice, or you can order an entire pizza. I got a cheese pie ($3.99), beef and cheese pie ($4.99) and chicken and cheese pie ($7.99). They were all delicious. They are generous with the cheese, as a result, the pies are a bit greasy from all the fat in the cheese, lol. Staff were courteous. I asked for spice and unlike most places, the spice had some heat to it :) The pie lacked the smoky flavour that I like with Lebanese meat pies, but it was still very good. A solid pie for sure. Service was very friendly. I think they employ university students who live in the area, which I think is great. They had some prepared foods like salads, rice with chicken, and falafel balls. They also had slices of cakes for $5.99 each and tiramisu in a cup for $3.99. I like that they have prepared foods in addition to regular items you would find at a convenience store. The store is in the heart of where a lot of University of Ottawa students live, so I'm sure they do really well with the student crowd. Since it's more for locals, there's no parking, so you have to park on the street.

I would say it's very comparable to Natural Food Pantry. The selection is good, but the stores are not huge like Whole Foods. Prices are acceptable, but not as cheap as at Healthy Planet. They do have a clearance section of short-dated items, where you can get some good deals. They occasionally have samples of featured products. They are obviously not doing this during the current COVID-19 Pandemic, but in normal times they did. They have a points system but admittedly it takes a long time to accumulate points if you don't buy a lot of things there. I didn't know the details, but Robert from Kardish responded to my review and let me know that it's spend $350 and get $10 off and it's free to join (Thanks, Robert!). The store is bright and clean. I asked if they had any baked ones, but unfortunately they only had fried ones. Nonetheless, I got a beef and a chicken ($2.50 each). They were both tasty, but I preferred the chicken. The owner said he also likes the chicken ones more, haha. The chicken samosa has chopped up chicken, peas, onions and spices. The beef samosa has ground beef, peas, onions and spices. I found the beef samosa a bit too salty. The chicken one was perfect. The dough wasn't too thick, but it was a bit greasy. I would have preferred baked ones ;) They also sell Biryani for $20 a container. They also sell pizza. They had a sign on the side of the store that a slice of pizza and a drink was $4.99. I'll need to check this out sometime. The owner said that they will be selling sandwiches soon as well. I feel like this place has a lot of potential. And the owners are so nice. They carry a small supply of basic groceries from snacks, noodles and various pantry items. Their drink selections is pretty impressive from Japan, China and other countries. You can also get tea leaves and bags. There is a frozen food section with things like dumplings to frozen meats for hot pot. It saves me a trip to Chinatown or T&T and the prices aren't terrible. Staff are the same as Hong Kong Express who are pretty friendly. Come check it out for yourself, especially if you're downtown and want some Asian drinks but don't want to pay $7+ for boba.
