Prospero is located at the end of a dead end street in Pleasantville. I've never gone at a very busy time and there's always a place to park outside the entrance. I've only purchased pails of juice from them to make wine and have done this for 3 years now. I'm glad I found them because I was tired of the chaos scene at my usual place in Clifton. Prospero let's you pre-order your juice and schedule a pickup time. Very convenient and no stress about wondering what grapes or juice they'll have in stock. They take cash or check. Any credit card use will incur a fee. One person who answers the phone definitely has a bit of a tone, but the girls at the register/pickup area have always been friendly. The guys who being out my juice and load into the vehicle have also always been nice. They do sell more than juice and grapes as the guy in front of my just bought two big bags of walnuts. You can also do tastings or purchase their other lines of products. The minimally 9 reviews that exist on Yelp at the time of this review are carefully representative of the volume of customers that have. Second year buying grapes for making homemade wine. Fist time I purchase 10 crates and had a few clusters of moldy fussy grapes and clusters of dry raisin. I took it as normal loss. Following year I purchased 8 crates due to price increase. To my dismay I must have had almost one crate worth of dry grape clusters useless for wine making. I've tried multiple times to contact prospero, let my name and contact info multiple time with no return call. If you say I should have over looked my crates before I purchased you may be right but there system prevents you from doing so until you unload them yourself. The have an order picker who fills the your cart and loads it into your vehicle. Obviously putting the better crates on top. Also as an FYI they don't refrigerate there grapes, they sit on the loading dock until sold. Go to Corrado's in Clifton instead! read more

Like most of the reviews for this place, and each customer is right about the terrible service, terrible products, high prices, and don't get fooled when you have your cases of grapes pressed there, and you get back something totally different then what you bought. Many people have experienced one type of rip off after the next at this place. My family and relatives stopped going there years ago after experiencing the same issues. Do yourself a big favor and find a better place to shop for your wine. read more

Great place to stop by and taste wine. They make all their own wine from grapes brought in from California. Absolutely top-notch wines and great prices. Plus it is fun just to visit the tasting room and try new things. the main business is selling winery equipment to most wineries in the U.S. and they bring in and wholesale grapes each fall for home winemakers, so they are well equiped and adept at making wine as well. Very impressive overall and their wines are available at select local stores too. read more

If you like awful service and crap wine then this is the place for you!!! Did a tasting here a few weeks ago and it was horrific. Every wine was either overly sweet or bitter beyond belief, like it had turned into vinegar years ago and they're just pawning it off as good. The staff is inattentive and rude. Do yourself a favor and get a nice bottle of barefoot for $8 and forget you ever saw this hell hole passing itself off as a respectable winery. Tried to give it another shot but the staff is so rude and unaccommodating I couldn't even speak to someone on the phone for any length of time to get some information. They instantly put me on hold and then hang up after a minute completely forgetting I was there. They don't have good products and the people are even worse. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! read more

In early October I purchased wine juice from Prospero Winery. I took it home and allowed it to reach room temperature (24 Hours). I then added yeast. After two days, fermentation was not commencing. I measured the sugar level. There was no sugar. It appears the juice was already fermented. I called Prospero and they asked me to bring in a sample. Joe, the wine master confirmed the juice was completely fermented. I expected an exchange seeing that I thought I was puchasing wine juice and not wine fermented in a plastic buckett. I was told I had a fine wine and was not entitled to an exchange. If you are a wine maker you will know that the yeast you use has a very significant impact on the final wine product. The wine I got was fermented with wild yeast. What wine I finally get is anybodies guess. Finally, I expected wine juice that I could add my custom yeast to., Instead I got wine fermented in a buckett with wild yeast. I was entitled to an exchange that satisfied my purchase expectations but was refused an exchange that met my expectations. read more

I was impressed with not only the selection of wines that were available, but with the friendliness and passion of the sommeliers that were available. They were very knowledgeable and made fantastic recommendations on several bottles of wine that we purchased. Well with it, can wait to go back. read more

I was really looking forward to going back to Prospero. The first time I was there it was such a nice experience. That's why I recommended it to my friends to try. I wish I could say I had a great time, or even a good time. My friends and I were really looking forward to an afternoon of sampling wine and making a lot of purchases. When we walked in the only person working there was talking to a customer. We walked around the small store front area for what felt like a long time. Not ONCE did she make ANY attempt to greet us. I'm almost certain, she didnt even say hello. Eventually, we all just sat down on the stools near the tasting area. After some time, she came over and handed our group of 4 people, 2 books to check off our selection of wines from. There were no pens or pencils offered to write with ( you must bring your own or ask ) and if you want to keep your booklet to take notes on the wines as you go along, you can't. The booklet is taken from you and turned upside down so she can see what she has to pour and then crosses it off your list. Many of the wines we wanted to try were not available. The most information/history we were given was, " This is the merlot. " Thank goodness for the comfy stools because whenever one of the worker's friends came in, she left our group for 10 minutes at a time to catch up with them. We also inquired about sampling the olive oil, which we had tried previously, and we were told, " We don't have bread. " You offer an olive oil tasting but have no bread? No crackers were even offered between the samplings, not even water. The employee wasnt friendly and I feel when you work in any service industry, it is your JOB to be welcoming! While there, I looked on the winery website and it said this employee ' keeps the party going in the tasting room '! Hmmmm......sadly, it COULD have been a party but it was't. Perhaps if the Prospero Winery wants to continue to PROSPER they should hire someone who can better sell their products with a smile, a friendly attitude and the knowledge and history of the wine that will make the consumer want to drink more, buy more, and come back with friends more!!! read more

I tried to coordinate with this company in order to buy grapes for the 2017 season. Firstly, when I called to inquire about wines they expected to have available, the woman answering the phone was extremely rude. She was also clueless as to what type of grapes would be available and in what quantities. When the day to pick up the grapes finally arrived, the staff was just as clueless as they initially were. I had taken a day off from work in order to pick up the grapes to make wine. However, when I called first thing in the morning the day shipment was to arrive, they told me the batch arrived late and would be ready by the afternoon. When i called back the afternoon, they told me that, in fact, no grapes had actually arrived and they would not be ready until the next day. The next day, there were such a slim quantity of grapes available. It's a shame this is the only place to buy grapes in this area, but I gladly traveled elsewhere for more variety and quality, not to mention better customer service. read more
