There are a bunch of food trucks right outside, so if you aren't in the mood for German food (I mean come on really?) or if you are vegan (yep), you have the option to get food from a cart and sit on their patio. How incredibly nice of them! This, is exactly what we did. We got some awesome vegan grub and proceeded to sit at the bar and enjoy some real, good Deutsches Bier. One of the first sunny, warm Saturdays of the year and this place was packed! We were tired from walking around Mississippi and decided to stop in for a quick bite. I, having newly had some fun oral surgery, prayed that their beer cheese soup would be good. (The boyfriend can eat anything so no worries for him) The soup was SO good that is actually has now set the bar for all other beer cheese soups. I wish the future beer cheese soups good luck because this Prost's soup was smooth, creamy, flavorful and yet not heavy. There was light beer taste that really complimented the cheese so now I apparently have to go all the way to North Portland for the best beer cheese soup. The boyfriend ordered a gigantic slab of meat that came with some mustard, saurkraut and a few other things and he was happily full! Some place that is a little different than the average Portland pub. This place is a must stop if you are in the area. On a sunny evening you can hang out on the deck with a brat and a beer that won't take you out in one fell swoop and still be good to go home and mow the lawn, grill more food, (insert task that requires most of your mental faculties and coordination), etc. Tap list is decent mix of about a dozen European beers with a rotating tap, Franziskaner is my favorite. The food is okay but nothing to rave about but does go well with the beer. If the food carts are open you can always snag something other than pretzels and sausage and eat it on the deck. Ah and the boot. Yes, you can order your beer in a boot if you wish. This will likely end with you yelling Prost! and raising your boot to anyone within earshot, but it's okay because everyone else is doing it as well. I have yet to drink out of the boot. It's on my to do list. That would require my game face which I definitely left back at Amnesia earlier that evening. Next time I go I'm drinking out of the boot. Prost! read more

The servers here are really great, the german booze is expensive sooooo, don't make the same mistake is and leave the tab open for the whole night, my wallet had a nice fat bruise when it woke up the next morning. Go ahead and get a boot just to make it official, its worth it and you can get some sweet pictures! This is one of the "frattiest" bars in portland(The Gypsy will forever hold the title), not that thats a problem, just saying. Not a beer drinker but I was told I must check this place out and boy howdy I'm glad I did. This place seems unique in the pantheon of Portland establishments. It was small but inviting, crowded yet homey, open yet warming. This place is just cool. The beer was good, the vibes were very friendly and chill with everybody mingling and having a great time, smiles all around. There were gorgeous girls everywhere and from my female friends, gorgeous men too and none of them seemed pretentious and unapproachable. We sat at the small (seats about six or so) outdoor bar first then moved on to the patio deck because of heavy cigar smokers near us. I didn't go inside but grabbed food from one of the adjacent food trucks and sat at Prost (they welcome it, with purchase at Prost). This place has some unique and inexpensive beers, served cold, fresh, with limited head, and in a signature glass. Bartender doubled as server for the outdoor space and was friendly and social. B-D-B stop #2. Time for delicious German beer? Yeahhhhh! (said with a German accent... "Ja!") We came for the patio and to imbibe cool alcoholic beverages. Check and check. My initial order was a misstep, as I didn't read 'faske' and think, "Oh. Flask. Like, as in a bottle." My bad. Also, what I ordered was not in the least Germanic, so my Prost adventure started with a bottled Strongbow. Ah, well. At least it was properly chilled and refreshing. Over the weekend one of our first stops was at this little pub we had searched on google and boy did they not disappoint. Food selection is somewhat limited but includes all the standard German fare. They have a great beer garden for the warmer months and there are also food trucks parked in the beer garden area. I've been looking for a good German Pub in the area but this place just gave me the creeps. The food was sub-par bar food and this city is not short of good places to drink good German beer. The patio and location is really all they have going for them. Tonight I arrived at Prost at 8:30 pm and was really excited to sit down and enjoy one of my favorite places in Portland. Sadly I had a terrible experience, upon arrival we were greeted by one of the bartenders, very nice individual who told us that he had some tables outside. He proceeded to take us outside and gave us two options. option by the fire or a table to the left of it, we chose a table with the fire. He told us a server would be right with us, our server arrived she was a tall individual with short brunette hair and she proceeded to rudely say " you're not supposed to come from the backside of the cart entrance you're supposed to come from the front you can't sit here" I proceeded to tell her that we came through the front Prost entrance and the server went ahead and sat us here and gave us an option, she said "well that's wrong". She was very rude and was very demanding which made me feel really uncomfortable. She made me feel as if I was not telling me The truth. I proceeded to point at the bartender that sat us and she said "well he made a mistake this table is reserved for 8:30 PM and we need you To move." I could not Believe how rude she was, she had attitude and did not care about how she was making us, the customers feel. She proceeded to say that she had another table around the corner to outside. At that point I just wanted to leave. I informed her we're just going to leave as our experience is not comfortable. She proceeded to look at us and she said "OK fine". I come here pretty often and I could not believe how rude this individual was and sadly due to her I won't be back and I will definitely will be sharing this with friends, family, social media, etc. I won't be coming back here due to this individual waitress, this is such a great place and it's sad to see such individuals work here and make customers feel this way. read more

I love this place! It's fair prices for Great German beer. Their menu is limited, but everything I've tried is really awesome. Well worth the money. The staff is very friendly and once you've been in a couple of times, they treat you like old friends. Also, this place has a punch card...for BEER. Hell yes. I reccomend the german pretzels (made fresh!) and whichever rotated Weiss Beer they've got that week.
