This bagel beat out every other i've had, new york included. The mini fry was also awesome. loved th white pudding and hash and bacon and all of it! not pictured but the waffles are real good too! not as jawdropping but a good belgian waffle nonetheless. But go with the bagel or the fry. It'll change you. Every morning i drank a whole tea and it was always incredible. Strongly recommend this place to any and every traveler. Great atmosphere, music selection, kind staff, and wonderful rooms if you're staying overnight. :)

The room was well updated and cozy. Each morning we had full complimentary breakfast across the street at the Barracks restaurant that was included with our room. Scott runs a very hospitable business and his passion for customer service shows through his staff. Michael was awesome, not only was he the one received us at 7pm, checked us in and showed us our room, he was also working each morning in the restaurant and helped us plan our daily journeys around the Galway area. Everyone we met were very attentive , kind and helpful. Next door to the Lodge, The Stone House Pizza had awesome food as well and is the one place we found that serves a true cocktail. I highly recommend staying at the Lodge at The Old Barracks to anyone who likes a local vibe and hospitality. After our fantastic experience I would never consider staying anywhere else when visiting the Galway area.

The space itself is small and cozy, with just a handful of tables and a private room, which gives it that intimate, tucked‑away feel. I'd 100% go back. They offer two specialty cocktails and a wine list, and while the cocktail selection is limited, the wines are unique and fantastic -- definitely worth exploring. The food was outstanding across the board. The monkfish scampi isn't what you might picture, but it's fantastic -- super crispy and full of flavor. And you have to get the bread: tomato focaccia or brown bread, then topped with the fennel, thyme, and maple butter were all unforgettable. The bavette steak was delicious, and the mashed potatoes were truly out of this world. The sea trout was incredibly fresh; just a heads‑up that the gremolata is spread over the whole dish, so it ends up almost poached in olive oil -- worth noting for anyone sensitive to that, but the flavor itself was excellent. Definitely end the night with the affogato and the shortbread cookies (chef's kiss). Who doesn't like to dunk their dessert? Highly recommend, would absolutely come back.

On both occasions I've been blessed by beating the crowds and leaving just as they come in. There's a main road that goes through this village so tour busses tend to stop here. I had the spaghetti which came with a side of Parmesan, absolutely divine. I love my salt, but I'm an American so I put salt on everything lol! Without the added salt you can taste the freshness of the tomatoes and herbs. They also sell a variety of handcrafted and very delicious pastries. You will love that you stopped by. Free WiFi on premises, clean bathrooms and not to mention the adorable, quaint and homey feel inside the cafe. Much love spread here.

So we stopped for breakfast. I had my doubts because we had been previously disappointed elsewhere in Ireland, but we ordered the Eggs Benedict. AMAZING. One of the best I've had, and I'm from NY. I also ordered a chai latte with oat milk. AMAZING. Also one of the best I've had - a close 2nd to Art Cafe in Nyack NY. Accompanied by a fruit scone (which means raisin). Also one of the best I'd had. We were so happy with our entire breakfast experience that we pined wherever else we traveled.. longing for ISHKA.
